As October begins, there’s a sense of lightness in your astrology and it’s wise to make the most of it. This is because the Sun is in your fellow air sign Libra and the Sun is joined in bright and breezy Libra by your ruling planet Mercury, up until the 10th.
This feels fun and sociable and it’s a lovely time to catch up with friends, hang out with your children, flirt with your lover and generally enjoy yourself. It’s a good time to focus on your hobbies or creative projects too. When key planets are in Libra, this is about self-expression and revealing who you are through your past-times, your leisure activities.
There is one proviso, however, and that’s not to get carried away financially pursuing an expensive hobby, for example. Mercury clashes with Pluto in Capricorn on the 3rd, followed by the Sun’s encounter with Pluto on the 12th. This is not the time to splash money on credit or run up bills. If your friends are wealthier than you are, try not to go overboard keeping up with the Joneses.
The same applies with regard to children or a new relationship. Keep a close tab on what’s happening around money matters, especially if someone is spending money they don’t have.
There’s a New Moon in Libra on the 9th, great for planning something special or arranging a social get-together. A New Moon is a symbol of new beginnings, excellent for a first date or planning a pregnancy.
Do be aware, however, that Pluto’s lurking here too. Sometimes being a Gemini, you prefer to avoid anything difficult or taboo in your life but this isn’t the time to turn a blind eye.
On the 10th, your ruler Mercury, moves into the water sign, Scorpio, where it joins the planet of love and relating, Venus. Scorpio rules your work and routine, your lifestyle and your health, so after a light and frivolous start to the month, it’s back to business.
Your ruler, Mercury, isn’t that comfortable in Scorpio, however, because this is when life can turn a bit ordinary or boring and you have to deal with everyday issues, day in, day out. If you’re a typical Gemini, variety is the spice of life and you don’t find it easy if life becomes too pedestrian.
It is a good time, however, to consider your health and sort out any niggles or worries. Scorpio is the star sign which rules detoxing and elimination and you may want to leap right in and change your diet or lifestyle.
There’s also a possibility that a job or contract could come to an end this month and you know that you’re soon going to have to start thinking about what next. There’s a real intensity in Scorpio this month, a build up of pent-up emotion as if things are coming to a head.
This could spell good news for you, whether you’re promoted or you hear about a new job. The 29th is a top date for you when your planet Mercury teams up with lucky Jupiter in Scorpio.
However, it does also suggest extra responsibility and hard work and this is something you can’t avoid moving forwards. Either that or you encounter a period of unemployment and doing nothing sends you stir crazy.
There may be issues at work too, surrounding personnel or what’s happening behind the scenes. This is because an important feature of this month’s astrology is the fact that Venus, the planet of relating, turns retrograde in Scorpio on the 5th and remains on go slow until November 15th.
This suggests tension with your colleagues or workmates. You might hear about someone who’s getting paid more than you, for example, flagging up an issue around gender. Venus in Scorpio can be seductive and scheming too, so perhaps it’s an issue around sexism that needs to be addressed.
Or maybe there’s someone at work who’s off because of ill-health and it means you need to step up your game. Decide whether this works in your favour and you can take advantage of another person’s misfortune or whether you need to create clear boundaries in your life so you don’t over-commit.
The Full Moon on the 24th is the start of a particularly lively period as it pulls in Venus but also unpredictable Uranus. Uranus is often about wins and losses, highs and lows and it rarely indicates stability.
Notice whether you’re more emotional during the Full Moon and whether you’re able to detach yourself from other people’s successes or luck. Scorpio is a sign closely linked to jealousy and the green-eyed monster could rear its head towards the end of October, whether you’re the one feeling it or someone targets you.
Be ready too for some sudden twists and turns later in the month. This is when your flexible and adaptable nature will come in handy. Celebrate the good times, but get ready to leap in and be supportive to others when it’s required.
