To say this is a busy month coming up is something of an understatement.
There are two eclipses on the 8th and 23rd which often signal dramatic events plus Mercury, the communication planet, is retrograde from the 4th-25th. Both these key events have a theme of bringing what’s hidden to light, however you can also expect some twist and turns and at times a lack of clarity or lack of direction.
Mercury retrograde lore dictates that you’re wise to wait until Mercury turns direct (25th) before making a major decision and with Mercury retrograding back into Libra, the sign of the scales on the 10th, expect a little more umm-ing and aah-ing than usual. This is classic ‘change your mind’ territory for you and others.
But first it’s important to note that your ruler Mars begins the month of October in your fellow fire sign Sagittarius so even though there may be indecision about love and relationships and/or insecurity about money matters, you have other plans. Mars in Sagittarius is ‘rocket man’ keen to see the world, explore and live life large. This is adventure at its best and whilst Mars is in Sagittarius (until the 26th), don’t be surprised if you’re ready for adventure and then some.
Broaden your horizons physically, mentally, spiritually, philosophically and be bold and brave. Mars in Sagittarius dares you to live life to the full and on the weekend of the 4th/5th and the 8th, you’ll feel inspired to take risks, say Yes to opportunity and be gloriously wonderfully authentic and true to who you are.
On the dates mentioned, there are fire sign trine aspects in the heavens as Mars connects with Uranus (change) in Aries on the 4th/5th and Jupiter (opportunity) in Leo on the 8th. This is spectacularly dynamic and go-getting. It’s entrepreneurial, a whoosh of energy coming in and shaking life up in a good way.
Think freedom, space; make your mark and do something fun and enlivening. All the sectors of your chart that focus on the good things in life are lit up like a great big catherine wheel. This may connect for you with kids, a love affair, a creative drive or simply a desire to set off on a new and exciting journey.
The backdrop to all of this is more unsettling but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. It really does depend on your current situation especially with regard to your 1-to-1’s and key relationships. This is a profound month for love and partnership and working out what you want and finding out what someone else wants. An eclipse cutting across the Aries/Libra axis of your chart on the 8th may be decision time for some and with a Venus/Uranus opposition exact on the 11th but active on the 8th, this can signal a parting of the ways.
It’s not a straightforward decision however as Venus in Libra wants ‘togetherness’ and Uranus in Aries wants ‘independence’. Expect to be pulled and pushed a little in October, allow yourself or your partner time to ‘make up your mind’ and know that it may take until the last week of the month before you’re clear about the way ahead or you finally know what someone else needs or wants.
You can consider this month as a time of exploration, experimenting and trying out different ideas or ways of relating. Know too that you can’t force your hand or win all the arguments but whilst Jupiter is in Leo (until August 2015), life is urging you to do what’s best for you and what makes you happy.
In some cases, this is about prioritising your children and ensuring that their happiness comes first. Children may be the deciding factor in a relationship and whether you’re for or against is irrelevant, what matters is ensuring that you’re with someone who thinks the same way you do.
Money too is under the cosmic spotlight in October and this can link in to a key relationship in your life. The Solar or New Moon eclipse on the 23rd falls in the sign of Scorpio ruling joint finances and shared emotional bonds. This is the last eclipse in the Scorpio/Taurus cycle which began in November 2012. This coincides with Saturn’s move through Scorpio and as Saturn moves on at the end of this year, there’s a sense that an important financial matter or stage in your life is reaching a conclusion.
Venus joins the Sun and Moon in Scorpio on the 23rd so this is about love or about doing what’s best for you financially. A New Moon is the perfect time to make a fresh start and this is a powerful New Moon being an eclipse. Whether something hidden comes to light or someone you’re involved with makes a bold statement about money and/or wealth, there’s a change or a shift in the dynamic.
You may decide that being debt free is a priority or you may be ready to create a new working partnership or love relationship that’s built on solid foundations. Either way, by month’s end you know what you want and you know where you stand with a significant other. For some, October is a seriously sexy month when you follow your heart rather than your head; for others, the decisions that are made are painful but you’re clear that it’s time to move on.
This coincides with your ruler Mars moving into Capricorn on the 26th, the sign at the top of your solar chart representing your career, your status and where you’re heading in life. Mars is powerful in Capricorn so you can expect your ambition to peak for the six weeks whilst Mars remains in this part of your chart.
Mars takes two years to circuit the zodiac and the last time Mars fired up the sign of Capricorn was November/December 2012. This is another indication that you’ve come full circle and whether the last two years have been scarce or abundant, you’re ready to take charge and steer your life in a new direction.
Capricorn’s the sign of hard work but it’s also about taking on responsibility, moving a step up the career ladder, even a change of status. The last few days of October are setting you up nicely to plan ahead and tackle money and work issues head on.
