October could turn out to be the pivotal month of the year. There’s so much big astrology taking place, some of it echoing what’s coming in 2023. Here’s what’s most significant for you to take note of:
Mercury Turns Direct
As October begins, the planet of communication Mercury switches direction on the 2nd. Mercury turned retrograde on September 10th and this is a welcome turning point. It’s been an unusually chaotic Mercury retrograde phase. When Mercury turns direct, this often brings news or information to light.
Mercury picks up speed in Virgo and your joint finance sector. You may be involved in sorting finances out as October begins, creating new systems or tidying up your financial situation. Mercury remains here until the 11th and teams up with Pluto in Capricorn on the 7th.
This combination is definitive. Therefore, one way or another you may have to sign a contract or make a decision regarding finances. This might mean cutting your losses or letting go of the past but the astrology suggests it’s the right time to move on.
Money matters are foreground from the 28th onwards, when expansive Jupiter returns to Pisces and your personal money sector. Jupiter will only be here for a short time until December 20th but it does indicate that you may have to make some big moves this month where money’s concerned.
Full Moon Aries
On the 9th, there’s a Full Moon cutting across the Aries/Libra axis of the zodiac. Aries is a passionate fire sign that rules communication in your horoscope. Yet, this Full Moon is dominated by air signs, your element and this favours objectivity, rationality & logic.
All three of the air signs – Gemini, Libra, Aquarius – are dominant from the 12th to the 23rd. The Full Moon is when you’re most likely to be making a key decision, perhaps around travel or study, culture or learning. You might be at a workshop or course during the Full Moon weekend.
Or, perhaps you’re abroad and liaising with people from different backgrounds or cultures to yourself. If you’re true to your star sign birthright, you are the humanitarian sign of the zodiac, a global citizen.
Your traditional planet Saturn takes on a key role on the following dates – 12th, 14th & 23rd. This is when you may be playing a supportive role to other people. Or, perhaps you’re in a position of leadership and working alongside a diverse group of people.
It’s important to note that your ruler Saturn turns direct on the 23rd and begins its journey out of your star sign Aquarius where it’s been for the last 3 years. Come March 2023, Saturn will change star sign and won’t return for another 29 years.
A lot depends on how you’ve experienced Saturn in Aquarius what this means for you. Sometimes, it’s about a period of authority, duty or responsibility. Other times, you’re dealing with hardship or lack.
Aim for stability and solidity once Saturn switches direction and don’t feel that you have to go it alone this month. There’s power in numbers.
Solar Eclipse Scorpio
On the 23rd, the Sun enters Scorpio alongside the planet of relating Venus. Scorpio is an intense water sign and is at the peak of your horoscope. This is about your career and vocation, your future path.
Plus, two days later, there’s a powerful Solar Eclipse in Scorpio on the 25th. This is part of the eclipse cycle that began in November 2021 and completes in October 2023. A Solar Eclipse is a New Moon with oomph. It’s a symbol of new beginnings, although sometimes the new beginnings emerge from an ending.
Check out the eclipse do’s and don’ts at the end of this article and be attentive to what’s happening. It may be that someone leaves a job or role vacating a position and you’re able to step in.
Or, perhaps you’re ready for a completely fresh start. It’s a powerful eclipse cycle when the eclipses cut across the foundations of your horoscope – your past & your future. You often change jobs or direction in life and you often move home or your family situation alters in some respect.
Mars Retrograde
Finally this month, passion planet Mars turns retrograde on the 30th. Mars represents drive and ambition and is currently in Gemini, a fellow air sign, where it’s been since August 20th.
Gemini rules all the good things in life in your horoscope. It’s about play rather than work, children, lovers, creativity, entertainment and fun.
When Mars is retrograde, the advice is to take your foot off the accelerator and not push too hard. Sometimes, you’re not the one in control or you get frustrated due to other people’s actions.
Mars will remain retrograde until January 12, 2023 and it’s an ideal time for planning and reworking your strategy. If this is about romance, you may need to rethink your relationship moving forward.
The planet of love Venus is a key player throughout October and flags up the possibility of a holiday romance when love and foreign connections come together.
Try not to rush into things once Mars is on go slow and be wary around money. You might get a sense of what this is about on or around the 12th when Mars clashes with Neptune in Pisces and your money sector.
Sometimes, this flags up a theme of scams or seduction, being fooled or deceived. Don’t put anything in writing that could work against you while Mars is retrograde in Gemini, the communication sign.
Eclipse Do’s & Don’ts
Eclipse season kicks in this month & next as the Taurus/Scorpio eclipse cycle continues. Here are some eclipse tips:
- Try not to fear an eclipse – they are a reminder that you’re not always in control.
- Ideally, don’t choose an eclipse date to launch a project or start something new.
- Wait a few days after an eclipse before taking action. Eclipse symbolism is shadowy and hidden.
- Once the eclipse shadow lifts, then you can try to take advantage of any changes that have occurred.
- Know that the eclipses are closely linked to the karmic nodes & wheel of destiny – sometimes, they offer a turning point ready or not.
