In the northern hemisphere, this is the quiet time of year. Up until the 20th, the Sun is in Capricorn and the most hidden sector of your horoscope. You may favour quiet time now and moments of peace and solitude.
When the Sun is in Capricorn, this turns your attention inward. It’s your inner world that’s under the cosmic spotlight and where you find hope and faith. You might be coming to terms with a personal issue or want to start 2026 with some rest and retreat.
The Sun’s not the only planetary body in Capricorn. Talk planet Mercury is here from the 1st to the 20th and action planet Mars is in Capricorn until the 23rd.
Mars in Capricorn can indicate a time of preparation or research when you’re busy working on a project behind the scenes. As Mars rules anger, ensure you channel any frustrated emotions constructively and try not to be hard on yourself or other people. Sometimes, you’re prioritising self-care when there are planets in Capricorn. Or you’re caring for others.
Venus, the planet of relating, is also in Capricorn until the 17th and the lovers of the heavens, Venus and Mars, unite here between the 6th to the 9th, alongside the Sun. This is about partnership and it could be linked to your past, for example a benefactor or guardian.
Alternatively, it may flag up a love relationship but one that’s private or hidden, a secret liaison. Perhaps, you have feelings for someone close that are unrequited.
Also this month, both the Full Moon on the 3rd and the New Moon on the 18th continue the Capricorn theme. During the Full Moon, the Sun’s in Capricorn while the Moon’s in Cancer and your work and health sector. It’s wise to be organised moving into 2026 and prioritise your well-being. Perhaps, you have some big goals for your health or a dream to step into a volunteering role.
The New Moon on the 18th feels dynamic as it pulls in talk planet Mercury and action planet Mars, both in Capricorn alongside the Sun and Moon. This is an excellent date to walk your talk and do what you say. Perhaps, you’re joining in with other people in a spiritual group or hidden project. Find your allies as the year begins and know who’s got your back.
Aquarius Themes
The Sun moves into your star sign Aquarius on the 20th which means it’s the start of your birthday month. When the Sun is in your star sign, it’s your turn to shine and put your needs first. Planets in Aquarius highlight your personal aims and goals, your image and profile and how the world sees you.
Plus, the Sun isn’t the only planet in Aquarius. As the inner planets are close together in January, they move into your star sign almost at the same time as the Sun. The planet of relating Venus is first on the 17th, followed by communication planet Mercury on the 20th and passion planet Mars on the 23rd. It’s a heady mix of planets in your star sign.
Your star sign Aquarius is linked to modern technology so this may be the time when you find your voice online. Alternatively, you could decide to play your part within society, politics or the collective.
This year’s astrology is about the future, not only on a personal level but for the world as well. You may have a unique role to play moving forward.
In addition, all the inner planets run into Pluto, the planet of loss and transformation, as they move into Aquarius. This brings added intensity and is a reminder that sometimes you have to close the door on the past before you can start over.
The dates of the Pluto conjunctions are as follows: Venus – 20th, Mercury – 22nd, Sun – 23rd and Mars – 27th. This suggests a theme of endings. Therefore, it’s as important to focus on what you’re not taking into the year ahead, as it is to line up some new dreams and goals.
The Pluto theme could mean that ultimatums are issued later this month. Alternatively, you’re stepping into a new role or position of power. It can go either way. Consider where and how you may need to be more empowered in your personal life.
Saturn-Uranus
There’s another strong planetary influence this month as one of the major planetary aspects of 2025 completes on the 20th and it’s significant for you. This is because it involves your two ruling planets, Saturn and Uranus.
The two planets came together last year on April 4 & August 12, 2025 and this is their last connection. Therefore, events from last year may be linked to what’s coming to completion or resolution this month.
Saturn is the planet of authority and responsibility currently in Pisces and the star sign which rules your personal money, your assets and possessions, your values and self-worth. Uranus is the planet of change and innovation currently in Taurus at the base of your horoscope. In your horoscope, Taurus rules your home and family, your past and where you come from.
You may already know why these areas of your life are foreground. Sometimes when Uranus is active, external events step in to bring about change. You may consider a new way of living, whether this is about sustainability, eco-living or community, down-sizing, sharing where you live or letting go of ties that bind you. There may be financial reasons why you’re ready to explore new options around home and family.
What’s most important with this combination is that have a safe base to start from and you build from your foundations. It’s not about starting over completely. Instead, look at how you can change or alter your current situation.
Neptune Enters Aries
There’s another major planetary event taking place on the 26th when the planet of dreams and imagination Neptune changes star sign and moves into fire sign Aries. Neptune’s been in Pisces and your personal money sector since 2011 but this year, it’s moving on.
You’ve already experienced Neptune in Aries as it was here from March 30 to October 22, 2025. Aries is your communication and community sector and Neptune is a compassionate and inclusive influence. Perhaps, you’re keen to play your role within society or your local community. Alternatively, you want to explore your creativity, perhaps through film, photography, music or art.
Lean into your dreams as there’s a chance for them to become reality next month when your traditional ruler Saturn joins Neptune in Aries on February 14.
