Who Will Win At The Oscars 2025

Update: Not a clean sweep this year but still a good result. Out of the 5 categories, 3 were bang on and the other 2 were my second choice. The Venus Aries theme won out over the Pisces mash-up with Anora winning Best Picture, not Conclave.

Oscar Predictions

The Oscars astrology predictions have been an annual affair on this website since 2017. I started the predictions to see whether astrology could help predict the winners and, the clear answer is yes. You can search back on the website to look at the astrology and the predictions for the last seven years. Last year 2024 was a clean sweep. This year’s Oscars ceremony takes place on March 2nd.

Oscars’ Astrology 2025

To make the Oscars’ predictions, the chart for the start of the awards ceremony can be revealing (see chart at the bottom of this article). This shows the main astrology to look out for and what themes may be foreground.

This year, the Oscars ceremony takes place in Pisces season as befits the glossy Hollywood glamour of the movie awards ceremony. Pisces’ modern ruler is Neptune linked to film, beauty and fashion trends.

The Sun rules the Leo Ascendant and is making a square aspect to Jupiter in Gemini in the 10th house – career/success. This aspect has a feel-good vibe and the Oscars is always a chance for celebrities to shine, egos and all.

However, it is worth noting that the Ascendant Leo is a fire sign and the Moon is in fire sign Aries conjunct Eris, the asteroid of discord. It’s been a devastating year for many people who lost their homes in the LA fires and no doubt this will be addressed at this year’s Oscars.

What’s unique about the astrology this year is that Venus, the planet ruling women, has only just turned retrograde at 10° Aries. When a planet stations retrograde or direct, its influence is often more prominent and Venus in Aries is a symbol of girl power, fierce and sexy.

The Venus retrograde theme may allude to certain controversies around the Oscars – see below – but it could give a nod towards what’s happening within the USA as a whole. A wild-card president and a dominant broligarchy are wreaking havoc in the States and it’s a worrying time for many people. Venus in Aries is a strong symbol for angry women and no doubt there’ll be some notable protests during the ceremony.

In the Oscar’s chart, there’s a triple conjunction between Mercury (speech), Neptune and the karmic North Node in Pisces. Mercury’s at the end degree of Pisces, 29°, which is a fixed star called Scheat, a place of misfortune.

It’s hard to pretend the Oscars is going to be a super happy event thanks to what’s happening beyond the gaze of the camera lens. Although, Neptune knows how to seduce and bewitch and the movies can take us away from the real world to a place of fantasy and make-believe. And, the star sign Pisces is currently dominant, where there’s a deluge of planetary activity.

As always to make the predictions, I’ll be looking at Jupiter, the biggest and best planet. It often shows for success and Jupiter’s currently at 12° Gemini. Expect the Geminis to be prominent.

Plus, Uranus at 23° Taurus often flags up the outsider or underdog doing well and both Jupiter & Uranus are prominent in the 10th house of success. The Midheaven – career/success point – is 15° Taurus which makes Venus retrograde the career/success planet.

Here are my predictions for the top 5 categories plus Best Film. As always in astrology, you’re hoping to find times of birth for the nominees but that’s not always the case. The time of birth can help you predict more accurately and I’ve noted whether this information is available in each category.

Actress In A Supporting Role

  • Monica Barbaro (b. June 17, 1990) Sun Gemini – A Complete Unknown
  • Ariana Grande (b. June 26, 1993, 9:16pm, Boca Raton, FL, USA) Sun Cancer – Wicked
  • Felicity Jones (b. October 17, 1983) Sun Libra – The Brutalist
  • Isabella Rossellini (b. June 18, 1952, 6:07pm, Rome, Italy) Sun Gemini – Conclave
  • Zoe Saldaña (b. June 19, 1978, 8:49am, Passaic, NJ, USA) Sun Gemini – Emilia PérezWINNER

Here come the Geminis – there are three of them in the Best Supporting Actress role. Intriguingly, Monica Barbara, Isabella Rossellini & Zoe Saldaña have birthdays one day after the other in June. They all have the Sun in late degrees Gemini and best planet Jupiter will reach their respective Sun Geminis in a few months time.

Monica Barbaro has Mercury at 9° Gemini, so Jupiter’s relatively close. If Mercury’s linked to her career that could a promising factor. Also, she has Venus at 21° Taurus and Uranus is close by. Barbaro played Joan Baez in A Complete Unknown and, like Dylan (see below), Joan Baez was born in 1941 and is having her Uranus Return. Baez’ Uranus is at 22 ° Taurus, close to Barbaro’s Venus.

Ariana Grande is a Sun Cancer. Like Barbaro, her Venus is at 20° Taurus. What’s different is that Grande’s Venus is opposite Pluto at 23° Scorpio in her 10th house of career. She could be a surprise winner. However, with Mars turning direct close to her Descendant, the relationship point in her horoscope, this could be about love as much as career recognition.

Felicity Jones is a Sun Libra with Mercury at 14° Libra. Jupiter’s heading for a lovely trine aspect to her Mercury and it may be linked to her career. Jones was born with the karmic north node at 17° Gemini and Jupiter will be there next month.

Isabella Rossellini was born on a beautiful Sun/Venus conjunction in late degrees Gemini and her Descendant, relationship point, is at 7° Gemini so Jupiter’s in her relationship sector. She’s born on a lucky Moon/Jupiter conjunction and her Moon at 15° Taurus is on the Midheaven of the Oscars’ chart. Some lovely astrology taking place.

Zoe Saldaña is the last of the Geminis and, it’s got to be said, the favourite to take the Oscars crown. I loved the movie Emilia Perez, partly because of the strong female roles, including Saldana. She was brilliant. There is controversy around the movie – see below – which fits the Venus retrograde theme. Apparently, Saldana swore a lot receiving a previous award this year and she has got Aries on the Midheaven, plus Eris at 14° Aries, close to where Venus is turning retrograde. A win isn’t obvious with her transits as her career planet Mercury is at 4° Cancer. However, I did note that her progressed Midheaven is at 12° Gemini, exactly where lucky Jupiter is now.

Astrologer’s Choice: Zoe Saldaña. No obvious choice from the transits but Saldana’s progressed Midheaven at 12° Gemini feels lucky.

Actor In A Supporting Role

  • Yura Borisov (b. December 8, 1992) Sun Sagittarius – Anora
  • Kieran Culkin – (b. September 30, 1982) Sun Libra – A Real PainWINNER
  • Edward Norton – (b. August 18, 1969, 2:00pm, Boston, MA, USA) Sun Leo – A Complete Unknown
  • Guy Pearce – (b. October 5, 1967, 4:15pm, Ely, UK) Sun Libra – The Brutalist
  • Jeremy Strong – (b. December 25, 1978, 8:05am, Boston, MA, USA) Sun Capricorn – The Apprentice

Yura Borisov is in Anora, one of the hot hits of this year’s awards ceremony. I did notice looking through the astrology that a lot of the nominees have the star sign Sagittarius prominent and Borisov is a Sun Sagittarius. This isn’t surprising as Jupiter in Gemini will be making an opposition to planets in Sagittarius, which brings luck. Borisov’s Sun is 16° Sagittarius so Jupiter’s not far away. There is an intriguing opposition in his chart with Mercury/Pluto at 25° & 23° Scorpio respectively, probably opposite the Moon in Taurus (without a time of birth, this isn’t definite). Therefore, Uranus is in the mix and Borisov could be a surprise winner.

Kieran Culkin is the favourite to win and has been picking up most of the trophies during this awards season. Unfortunately, there’s no time of birth for him but his Sun is at 7° Libra. Plus, he has a stellium in Libra (i.e. four planets or more), including talk planet Mercury at 10° Libra, so Jupiter’s very active. Apparently, it was the director’s sister who recommended him for the role – lucky Jupiter in Gemini in play, the sibling star sign. Culkin’s Moon is likely to be in Pisces, although without a time of birth, we don’t know the degree. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s between 9-12° Pisces. The New Moon on February 28th fell at 9° Pisces and the Sun is at 12° Pisces during the ceremony.

Edward Norton was born with the Sun at 25° Leo, relatively close to the Ascendant of the Oscars chart. Like many actors, his career planet is Mercury, the planet of words and communication. Saturn has been opposing his Mercury at 18° Virgo which doesn’t look like a win. However, Mars turned direct on his Venus at 17° Cancer, which seems promising financially at least.

Guy Pearce is another Sun Libra and, with his Sun at 11° Libra, he’s got a lovely Jupiter aspect taking place. His Ascendant is 2° Aquarius 58′ which means Pluto is exactly on this point during the ceremony. And, his chart ruler Saturn is 8° Aries where Venus turns retrograde. Both tough transits. I haven’t watched The Brutalist but without dropping too much of a spoiler, it is quite brutal! and Pearce’s character is involved in a brutal sex act. It’s weird how astrology often symbolises the roles that actors take on.

Any movie about Trump gives me the heebie-geebies but The Apprentice goes there. Jeremy Strong was born on Christmas Day under a powerful Sun/Mars conjunction at 3° & 9° Capricorn respectively. The best astrology is his talk planet Mercury at 11° Sagittarius picking up the opposition from Jupiter.

Astrologer’s Choice: Yura Borisov could be the surprise win but I’m going for Kieran Culkin.

Actress In A Leading Role

  • Cynthia Erivo (b. January 8, 1987) Sun Capricorn – Wicked
  • Karla Sofía Gascón – (b. March 31, 1972) Sun Aries – Emilia Pérez
  • Mikey Madison – (b. March 25, 1999, 3:43am, Tarzana, CA, USA) Sun Aries – AnoraWINNER
  • Demi Moore – (b. November 11, 1962, 2:16pm, Roswell, New Mexico, USA) Sun Scorpio – The Substance
  • Fernanda Torres – (b. September 15, 1965, 9:30am, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) Sun Virgo- I’m Still Here

This is the category which is super-interesting because of the Venus in Aries retrograde theme.

Cynthia Erivo was brilliant as the ‘bad’ witch Elphaba in Wicked. Venus in Aries isn’t sweet and light, she’s fierce and angry. I love this Venus as a symbol of the wicked Witch. Bring on the girl power. Erivo is tiny (5 ft 1/2 inch), yet so powerful in the movie. Astrologically, there’s not a lot leaping out. Cynthia is a Sun Capricorn with her Mars at 29° Pisces. The triple Mercury/North Node/Neptune conjunction on her Mars feels quite magical, kooky and a flight of fancy.

Karla Sofía Gascón is a transgender woman who plays the eponymous heroine in Emilia Perez. It’s a brilliant performance but there’s been controversy around Gascon since her social media revealed statements from the past which were racist and bigoted. She went from being a front contender to being largely absent from the film’s promotion. I presume she will turn up to the Oscars but it’s unlikely she’ll win. She was born with the Sun & Mercury in a tight conjunction, both at 10° Aries. This is exactly where Venus is turning retrograde on the day of the award ceremony.

Mikey Madison is the youngest of the nominees. Madison played a sex worker in Anora, another classic Venus Aries role and she is a strong passionate Sun Aries. Her astrology is intriguing as she was born on a lucky Sun-Jupiter conjunction with her career planet Jupiter at 9° Aries, where Venus switches direction. Also, she has the Moon at 17° Cancer where Mars turned direct. She was born with Uranus bang on her Aquarius Ascendant so maybe she will spring a surprise and emerge as the winner.

This is Demi Moore‘s first major nomination. The Substance is a body horror film, another nod towards the Venus retrograde in Aries theme . Moore has the asteroid Eris at 9° Aries in her 1st house so Venus is bang on it. Born on a witchy Full Moon, Moore has a stellium of planets in Scorpio and her Moon is at 18° Taurus close to the Midheaven of the Oscars’ chart. There are some tough transits as Pluto is on her South Node at 2° Aquarius and Saturn close to her Ascendant at 22° Pisces. Maybe a sign that she’s had to dig deep and wait a long time to get her reward.

Fernanda Torres is a Sun Virgo which is her career planet as her Midheaven is 16° Leo. Saturn is moving towards an opposition with her Sun and the Sun is on her natal Saturn at 13° Pisces. It is Torres’ Jupiter Return year, although Jupiter is at 29° Gemini in her horoscope. Her Ascendant is 29° Scorpio, so the triple conjunction at 27-29° Pisces is intriguing. And, her Moon is at 15° Taurus on the Midheaven of the Oscar’s chart. Torres’ film I’m Still Here is about a mother and wife searching for her disappeared husband. Also notes of Venus Aries retrograde.

Astrologer’s Choice: Mikey Madison is definitely in with a chance but could Demi Moore swing it her way? I’m going for my fellow Scorpio 🙂

Actor In A Leading Role

  • Adrien Brody – (b. April 14, 1973, 3:30pm, Woodhaven, Queens, NY, USA) Sun Aries – The BrutalistWINNER
  • Timothée Chalamet (b. December 27, 1995, 9:16 pm, Manhattan, NY, USA) Sun Capricorn – A Complete Unknown
  • Colman Domingo – (b. November 28 1969) Sun Sagittarius – Sing Sing
  • Ralph Fiennes – (b. December 22 1962) Sun Capricorn – Conclave
  • Sebastian Stan – (b. August 13, 1982, 5:00pm, Constanta, Romania) Sun Leo – The Apprentice

Adrien Brody is the youngest actor to have won the Best Actor award for The Pianist in 2002. It was his Saturn Return. If Timothee Chalamet beats him this year, he’ll become the youngest actor to win the Best Actor award, also on his Saturn Return. Brody is a Sun Aries and he has Saturn at 16° Gemini on his Midheaven at 17° Gemini. Jupiter is homing in (nb. last time it was Saturn, the coming-of-age planet, this time it’s lucky Jupiter). Plus, Brody’s career planet is Mercury at 27° Pisces with the karmic North Node bang on it. It’s striking astrology.

Timothee Chalamet is the youngest nominee, a Sun Capricorn. His Moon is at 27° Pisces so the North Node is exactly on it. His career planet is Venus at 7° Aquarius. He’s had some big transits already going on in his career. What’s fascinating is that Chalamet is playing the icon Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown. Dylan is a Sun Gemini and Dylan’s career planet is Venus at 12° Gemini, so it’s Dylan who has the brilliant Jupiter transit.

There’s no time of birth for Sun Sagittarius Colman Domingo. His Mercury is at 13° Sagittarius so Jupiter’s almost directly opposite it. Perhaps, his career planet. Plus, his Venus is at 22° Scorpio with Uranus almost directly opposite it.

There’s no time of birth for Ralph Fiennes and he’s born on the cusp. Surely, he’s got to be a Sun Capricorn rather than a Sun Sagittarius? Conclave has been doing well this awards season but Fiennes astrology isn’t all that convincing. He’s got Jupiter at 7° Pisces so the New Moon on February 28th was close to lucky Jupiter.

Sebastian Stan is playing Donald Trump in The Apprentice. Interestingly, he’s a Sun Leo which is Trump’s Ascendant sign. Stan’s Sun at 20° Leo is on the Ascendant of the Oscars chart. His Moon is at 5° Gemini so Jupiter’s been over that point already. He was born with Neptune exactly on his Sagittarius Ascendant so he’s good at creating an illusion or fantasy.

Astrologer’s Choice: Adrien Brody or Timothee Chalamet (& Bob Dylan!). It’s a tough one to call. I’m going Timothee Chalamet (thanks to Bob!).

Director

  • Jacques Audiard (b. April 30, 1952, 1:00am, Paris, France) Sun Taurus – Emilia Pérez
  • Sean Baker (b. February 26, 1971) Sun Pisces – AnoraWINNER
  • Brady Corbet (b. August 17, 1988) Sun Leo– The Brutalist
  • Coralie Fargeat (b. November 24, 1976, 11:30am, Paris, France) Sun Sagittarius – The Substance
  • James Mangold (b. December 16, 1963) Sun Sagittarius – A Complete Unknown

Jacques Audiard is a Sun Taurus with a Capricorn Ascendant and his Moon at 16° Cancer. This is where Mars has turned direct but it’s in his relationship sector so it may be more about other people than himself.

Unfortunately, there’s no time of birth for Sean Baker. A Sun Pisces, it was his birthday a couple of days before the New Moon in Pisces on February 28th. His Moon may be at end degrees Pisces but it’s not certain without a time. He does have Pluto at 28° Virgo so the Pisces triple conjunction opposes his Pluto.

Brady Corbet is a Sun Leo and it’s his Jupiter Return year. He was born with Jupiter at 3° Gemini. His North Node is at 14° Pisces so the Sun is almost there. Interestingly, his Mars is at 10° Aries where Venus is turning retrograde.

Coralie Fargeat is the only female director up for the Best Director award and a Sun Sagittarius – this is a common star sign for directors as they need a big vision and an ability to (literally) see the bigger picture. Both French directors have their times of birth in the public domain. Fargeat’s born on a tight Sun/Mars conjunction so she’s a tough cookie. Plus, she has a Mercury/Neptune conjunction at 11°/13° Sagittarius so Jupiter’s opposite. It’s actually a fascinating chart and with her Jupiter at 25° Taurus, she could be a surprise winner.

James Mangold is another Sun Sagittarius. He has Jupiter at 9° Aries where Venus is turning retrograde. I’m not sure what this means for the male directors but it doesn’t feel especially lucky.

Astrologer’s Choice: Sean Baker is a hot favourite to win but without a time of birth, it’s not clear cut astrology. I’d like to see Coralie Fargeat spring a surprise but I guess it’s going to be Sean Baker.

Best Picture

  • Anora – WINNER
  • The Brutalist
  • A Complete Unknown
  • Conclave
  • Dune: Part Two
  • Emilia Pérez
  • I’m Still Here
  • Nickel Boys
  • The Substance
  • Wicked

I’ve seen half of the films in the Best Picture category. As mentioned above, either Anora or The Substance would be a fitting win for the Venus retrograde in Aries theme. I love Wicked for Venus Aries retrograde too, also the deluge of Pisces planets and the Mercury/Neptune fantasy/musical theme.

It seems as if the other main contenders are The Brutalist or Conclave. I can’t see The Brutalist fitting the symbolism of the Oscars chart but Conclave does. The flood of planetary activity in Pisces and Jupiter in the 10th house is about religion and popes. The twist at the end of the movie also invokes the Venus Aries retrograde theme.

n.b. as I’m writing this Pope Francis is in ill-health and may be nearing the end of his life – real life mirroring fiction? A Sun Sagittarius (religious star sign), Francis became Pope with Mars at 0° Aries which is a pivotal degree throughout 2025/2026. He’s just reached his third Saturn Return, his Saturn at 16° Pisces, perfect symbolism for becoming Pope.

Astrologer’s Choice: Conclave is my first bet, second choice Anora.
