Your ruling planet Mercury is in Sagittarius and your home and family sector as December begins. The planet of relating Venus is here until the 10th and the Sun until the 21st. This suggests that you’ll be getting together with family or be opening your doors to other people in the run-up to the festive period.
Gemini Full Moon
The peak time for family matters is during the Full Moon on the 8th. This Full Moon cuts across the Gemini/Sagittarius axis of the zodiac and the foundations of your horoscope.
You might be busy organising family or be getting the house ready for the festive period. Don’t overdo things, however, otherwise it could quickly become exhausting rather than enjoyable. Full Moons are often a time of heightened emotions and can coincide with drama.
This could be true because during the Full Moon, retrograde Mars in Gemini opposes the Sun in Sagittarius and sits in a tight conjunction with the Moon. This combination often flags up the possibility of opposition to your plans or strong competition. This may be evident on the 1st too, when Venus opposes Mars, the lovers of the heavens eyeing one another from opposite sides of the zodiac.
Yes, Mars can be passionate but there is a flip side to Mars as it’s the planet of anger. You might feel frustrated with the one you love or vice versa. At the very least, this could bring an opportunity to clear the air to help resolve any issues between you.
You may find that the in-laws or a partner and your family are not seeing eye-to-eye. You might be overly busy with work or career matters. Or, perhaps you’re currently unemployed and any frustration could leak out on the ones you love. Mars retrograde can indicate an imbalance.
There is an added factor in the shape of Neptune square to Venus on the 4th and the Sun on the 14th. At its best, this is fairytale romance when you enjoy losing yourself in love and falling in love is blissful and enchanting.
Yet, a square aspect often indicates some form of soul-searching, when you may be chasing an elusive dream. If you’re not in a relationship, this could be a wistful time for you when you dearly would love to have someone special in your life. The run-up to the festive period could be especially emotional for you.
Earth Sign Energy
What does help you throughout December is the fact that earth sign energy begins to dominate. Being a Virgo, you’re one of three earth signs. And, when planets are in your element, there’s a natural flow in your astrology.
Your ruler Mercury is the first to enter earth sign Capricorn on the 6th followed by Venus on the 10th and the Sun on the 21st. The Sun’s move into Capricorn heralds the Solstice. Plus, two days later, there’s a New Moon in Capricorn on the 23rd. This is an ideal time to set your intentions and to start over if it’s been a bumpy few weeks.
Capricorn rules play rather than work in your horoscope. Therefore, if you get a chance to take a step back and pace yourself throughout December, this might be the best option.
Certainly, it’s a promising time to focus on all the things in your life that you love, whether it’s romance, children, entertainment or fun. The more you put personal issues to one side and aim to enjoy yourself, the more your spirits are likely to soar.
Jupiter Joy
There’s big news towards the end of the month as big planet Jupiter is on the move. Jupiter leaves your opposite star sign Pisces and moves into fire sign Aries on the 20th. Jupiter’s already been in Aries from May 10th to October 28th and will remain here until May 16, 2023.
Jupiter’s the planet of luck and opportunity and is associated with plenty. It’s the planet linked to freedom. Even though Jupiter leaves Pisces and your relationship sector and enters Aries, the focus remains on other people. In particular, joint finances and shared resources.
For example, this could be the settling-down period, when you create a joint bank account and learn to live alongside your partner day-to-day. Aries represents the sector of your horoscope that’s linked to sex and intimacy. It may be a time when you’re thinking about these key issues and what you want when it comes to love.
This doesn’t only apply to a personal relationship. For example, you might be ready to start a business partnership or work alongside another person in a specific role in your life, e.g. lawyer, an agent, a personal trainer, a therapist, a coach.
When Jupiter’s in Aries, it’s the perfect time to get expert advice, especially when it comes to finances or legal matters. Jupiter’s a global planet so there are no restrictions and you can expand your circle of expertise.
You may discover more about what Jupiter in Aries will bring on the 20th. Also, the 29th when there’s a lucky Moon/Jupiter conjunction in Aries. This lovely pairing will be visible in the night sky and it’s an ideal time to make a wish.
There could be a celebration, a bonus or gift or an opportunity to boost your cash flow, your investments or clear a debt. The key is to work alongside other people and not go it alone.
Mercury Retrograde
It is important to note, however, that your ruling planet Mercury turns retrograde on the 29th and will remain on go slow until January 18, 2023.
Therefore, don’t run before you can walk. Perhaps, you need to be aware that learning a new skill takes time. Know that with Mercury in retreat, you may have to go backwards before you can go forwards. Or, you find it hard to get hold of the right person and have to play a waiting game.
What Mercury retrograde is good for is learning and research, reviewing and revising your plans. An ideal way of spending the Mercury retrograde phase is to retreat and wind down so you can find a new perspective. Some plans may unravel during the Mercury retrograde phase but be flexible and give other people the benefit of the doubt.
You could reconnect with someone from your past during this Mercury retrograde phase. For example, a childhood sweetheart. Or, someone who played a key role in your upbringing.
You may be rethinking what fun means to you while Mercury’s in retreat. Or, perhaps you’re returning to a past hobby or creative activity. If there’s a love decision to make, you’re wise to wait until Mercury turns direct.
Yet, there is a promise of love and fulfilment over the festive period. This is because Mercury switches direction conjunct Venus and in a lovely connection to Neptune in Pisces.
Mercury & Neptune dominate on Christmas Day, December 25th, and are focal during the last week of the year. It’s a cosmic reminder to put bad feelings to one side, practise forgiveness and appreciative the love you share with other people.
