March 2025 Astrology

This could turn out to be the most important month of the year. The Equinox takes place on March 20 when the Sun leaves Pisces and moves into Aries, the start of a new 3 month season. Yet, there’s a lot more big astrology taking place.

At times, the month of March may feel like a muddle and a mess. Using astrology to help you navigate your way forward could be more essential than ever. Here’s what’s happening:

Eclipse Season

This month, both the Full Moon on March 14 and the New Moon on March 29 are eclipses. Eclipses come in pairs and take place approximately twice a year.

Total Lunar Eclipse Virgo – March 14

The Full Moon on March 14 is a total Lunar Eclipse, the second eclipse in the Virgo-Pisces eclipse cycle which is active until February 2027.

Plus, this eclipse mirrors the Lunar Eclipse on September 18, 2024. It may be that significant events back then are coming full circle this month.

During a Lunar Eclipse, the Sun and Moon are at opposite sides of the zodiac. A shadow is thrown which is why eclipse symbolism is said to be ‘shadowy’ and hidden.

Once the shadow lifts, it brings what’s hidden to light or sheds a new perspective on a current situation.

Traditionally, you’re wise to wait a few days after an eclipse before taking action and it’s not an ideal date to undertake a major project.

Partial Solar Eclipse Aries – March 29

The New Moon on March 29 is a partial Solar Eclipse. Solar Eclipses often feel like turbo-powered New Moons, a symbol of new beginnings.

However, this is the last eclipse in the Aries-Libra eclipse cycle which began in April 2023. Therefore, it could be that something in your life is coming to an end, perhaps linked to a personal issue or relationship.

Sometimes, eclipses act as a catalyst for change but you don’t recognise this until later on. Their effect can last a few months after the exact date of the eclipse, even up until the next set of eclipses, which will occur in September 2025.

In ancient times, an eclipse was an omen, a sign that there would be a rise or fall of leadership. On a personal note, it’s important to remember that there are winners and losers during eclipse season.

Retrograde Planets

On February 24, action planet Mars turned direct in water sign Cancer after being retrograde since December 6, 2024

This month, Mars is repeating its movement through the zodiac where it was in October 2024. Think second chances, especially regarding home and family affairs.

However, there are two more planets turning retrograde in March and this is significant.

Both Venus & Mercury turn retrograde in Aries close to where the Solar Eclipse is taking place on March 29. If you have planets or angles close to 9/10° Aries, you’re in the hot zone.

Venus turns retrograde – March 2

Venus, the planet linked to love and money, turns retrograde on March 2. Traditionally, the sign of Aries is not a strong placing for Venus.

This is because Venus highlights relationships which ideally should be based on equality and compromise. Aries is all about the self and if one person gets everything their own way, the balance in a relationship flips dramatically.

Venus will remain retrograde until April 13. This is not an ideal time to marry or make a major purchase or investment. Venus rules beauty, so cosmetic surgery is ill-advised.

Instead, it’s an ideal time to consider what’s important to you when it comes to your image, love, relationships and material values. Be patient and play a waiting game if necessary.

Venus creates a perfect pattern every 8 years as she dances around the Earth and the Sun. The last time Venus was retrograde at this exact same point in the zodiac was March 4, 2017 to April 14, 2017.

Mercury turns retrograde – March 15

Communication planet Mercury turns retrograde more frequently than Venus, approximately three times a year.

What’s intriguing about this retrograde phase is that it’s a double whammy of retrogrades as Mercury’s on go slow from March 15 to April 7.

This means that both Venus and Mercury are retrograde at the same time. Plus, both planets turn retrograde in Aries and turn direct in Pisces at similar points in the zodiac. They’re teaming up together.

What does this mean? The communication planet can coincide with travel chaos, plans going wrong and misunderstandings when it’s topsy-turvy. You’re wise to be flexible and have plans B, C & D up your sleeve.

As both Venus and Mercury are social planets, you may be going under the radar with a team in secret. Or perhaps, you’re reuniting with people from your past.

The best way to use the Mercury retrograde phase is to rework, review and reassess your situation.

Eclipses have a similar theme to retrogrades, in that things are often hidden from you and the truth is blurred. You’re wise to keep things close to your chest and not over-share or reveal too much.

Do your research, take a step back and reevaluate what’s important to you. Ideally, go on a retreat and wait until mid-April before making a major move or decision.

Neptune Enters Aries – March 30

Neptune is God of the sea in mythology and is completing its journey through Pisces this year and next where it’s been since 2011

Neptune likes to be in Pisces where it can be creative, compassionate and tuned into higher consciousness.

Neptune’s move into Aries on March 30 feels different and it’s the start of a new world. I’ll be writing more about what Neptune’s journey through Aries from 2025-2039 will mean on the blog and for my Inner Star Circle

In brief, Neptune’s leaving the last star sign Pisces and entering the first star sign Aries, the end and the beginning, alpha and omega. The last time Neptune moved into fire sign Aries was 1861.

Plus, the inner planets and the karmic North Node are intertwined with Neptune as it makes its epic shift.

Throughout the month, the inner planets are conjunct Neptune in Pisces on March 2, 19, 27 & 30. It’s a flood of planetary energy in water sign Pisces. You may be feeling emotional, sentimental, compassionate, sensitive or all of the above.

Whatever’s going on in the world, remember that the best way to harness Pisces’ energy is to believe in unity, be kind and caring to all human beings and tseek solace in your faith or spiritual journey.
