Top Tips Astrology January 2026

January 2026 Astrology

Your horoscopes for January are here.

There’s a lot to look forward to in 2026 and a lot to be hopeful for. Here’s what’s coming up this month:

Capricorn Party

All the inner planets are moving through earth sign Capricorn once talk planet Mercury joins the party on January 1. This means that there are a lot of powerful conjunctions in Capricorn. Here’s the schedule:

  • January 6 – Sun/Venus 16° Capricorn
  • January 8 – Venus/Mars 18° Capricorn
  • January 9 – Sun/Mars 19° Capricorn
  • January 18 – Mercury/Mars 26° Capricorn

The Sun rules your identity, Venus rules love and money, Mars rules action and drive and Mercury rules communication. Plus, Venus and Mars are the symbols for love and desire, women and men.

Therefore, this is not a month to go it alone, especially as big planet Jupiter in Cancer opposes the planets in Capricorn. Hang out with your loved ones, create family in your life, find your tribe, be in community, take your place amongst your fellow human beings.

Aquarius Overload

As you’ll read in this month’s important dates – see below – all the inner planets move into Aquarius in January. This means that there are two more important conjunctions. Here’s the schedule:

  • January 21– Sun/Mercury 1° Aquarius
  • January 29 – Mercury/Venus 14° Aquarius

However, there’s another significant planet in Aquarius – Pluto, where it will be for the next twenty years. Pluto’s the planet of loss and endings, power and transformation. Aquarius rules the collective and technology. In some countries, this is returning power to the people and it’s a major symbol of the rise of AI, Artificial Intelligence.

This month, all the inner planets make a powerhouse conjunction with Pluto. Here’s the schedule:

  • January 20 – Venus/Pluto 3° Aquarius
  • January 22 – Mercury/Pluto 3° Aquarius
  • January 23 – Sun/Pluto 3° Aquarius
  • January 27 – Mars/Pluto 3° Aquarius

This is powerful stuff, especially if you have planets/angles close to 3° Aquarius. Your horoscopes will reveal more about what this means for you.

Saturn Pisces sextile Uranus Taurus

January 20

There is a major planetary aspect which is active all month and exact on January 20. This involves the planet of tradition Saturn working in sync with innovative, future-oriented Uranus.

It’s a combination which combines the old and the new. This is because Saturn is the last of the traditional planets and Uranus is the first of the modern planets.

This planetary aspect isn’t about throwing out what you’ve started or beginning again. Instead, this is perfect for renewal, reform, reinventing what you’ve done or reworking an old project.

Be progressive, adopt an experimental approach and turn what’s ordinary into something extraordinary. Saturn is in imaginative, creative Pisces and Uranus is in practical hands-on Taurus. This same planetary aspect took place on April 4 & August 12, 2025. This is the completion.

Neptune Enters Aries

January 26

Neptune’s realm is the world of illusion and fantasy. The planet was discovered in 1846 during an era of major developments in photography and film, pharmaceuticals and anaesthetics, spiritualism and social reform.

The world of escapism is Neptune’s domain which includes poetry, music, art, film, romance and the media, also drink and drugs, binge-watching and losing yourself in social media. Neptune rules gas, oil, liquids and the sea.

Neptune’s been in its sign of rulership Pisces since 2011, although Neptune dipped its toe into Aries from March 30 to October 22, 2025.

Neptune’s moving from the last star sign Pisces to the first star sign Aries on January 26, a symbol of a new world, where it will remain until 2038/2039. The last time Neptune moved into fire sign Aries was 1861.

Saturn joins Neptune in Aries on February 14 and they make their epic conjunction at 0° Aries on February 20. I’ll be talking more about what this means for you next month.

Moon’s Phases

Full Moon Cancer

January 3

During the Full Moon, the light of the moon is at its peak. Traditionally, a Full Moon is the time to trust your intuition, make important decisions and bring matters to completion or culmination.

This is the start of the waning phase of the Moon cycle, an ideal time to release and let go of what’s no longer needed in your life.

The Full Moon on January 3 cuts across the Cancer/Capricorn axis of the zodiac. Both earth signs favour tradition and are linked to home and family, work and vocation.

Venus and Mars, the lovers of the heavens, sit either side of the Sun during the Full Moon phase. Plus, protective Jupiter is in Cancer in a wide conjunction to the Moon. Consider who or what family means to you.

New Moon Capricorn

January 18

A New Moon is a symbol of new beginnings. Traditionally, a New Moon is the time to launch a project, begin something new and start over.

This is the beginning of the waxing phase of the Moon cycle, an ideal time to set your intentions for the month ahead. Make a wish when you first catch sight of the crescent Moon, a couple of days after the New Moon date.

This month’s New Moon falls in earth sign Capricorn on January 18 and talk planet Mercury and action planet Mars are next to the Sun and Moon.

This is an ideal New Moon to walk your talk and do what you say. Be a leader and motivator, cardinal Capricorn’s themes.

  1. Happy New Year! My Saturn is 27 Pisces. I’m having an extended return age 59. Will this be momentous for me; I have already lost a parent during the Summer retrograde? Huge adjustments having to be considered.

    1. Hi Susan, I’m sorry to hear about the loss of your parent – that’s tough. What’s happening this month is some form of completion around what’s been going on in your life so hopefully it will more helpful or stable moving forward. Both Saturn Returns are a major period of reassessment in your life. Sending best wishes, Sally
