Full Moon Gemini: Mercury Turns Direct

Full Moon [23 Gemini 53] – December 15, 2024 (09:02 GMT)

Mercury turns direct [6 Sagittarius 24] – December 15 2024 (20:57 GMT)

Full Moon Vibes

This weekend, there’s a Full Moon in Gemini, a time of completion, culmination and celebration. You often experience heightened emotions and sleepless nights during the time when the light of the Moon is shining brightly.

This weekend’s Full Moon cuts across the Gemini/Sagittarius axis of the zodiac, representing the lower and higher mind. Gemini is the communicator, Sagittarius the seeker and explorer and both signs are linked to learning and knowledge. Gemini rules the chatter of the marketplace and Sagittarius rules foreign connections.

This highlights the bigger picture in life, as Gemini and Sagittarius favour curiosity and exploration. Write down your ideas, read a good book or meet up with people who you enjoy talking with about life, the universe and everything.

The light of the Moon shines brightly during the Full Moon phase and can coincide with the culmination of a project. You may be able to dig deep and finalise a matter that’s been dragging on, perhaps linked to transport, travel, technology or communications.

Mercury Turns Direct

There’s another reason for this as it’s a double whammy of green lights on December 15th. On the same day as the Full Moon, the planet of communication Mercury turns direct in fire sign Sagittarius.

These two events are closely linked as Mercury rules the Gemini Full Moon and both planetary phenomena bring light and truth. Watch out for green lights flicking back on either at the weekend or as next week begins.

The light of the Full Moon brings clarity and Mercury turning direct often brings new information that’s been hidden. Therefore, this weekend could coincide with a significant turning point. At the very least, now’s the time to trust your intuition and start making wise decisions.

Mercury, the planet of facts, figures and communication is back on side and working well – use his skills wisely, do what you can, get life back on track. Here are a few more ways of using Mercury back to direct motion:

  • trying again – second chances are a classic Mercury direct theme
  • sorting out any misunderstandings
  • considering what Mercury retrograde taught you, i.e. where are you wasting your time?
  • starting afresh
  • speaking your mind – Mercury in Sagittarius doesn’t hold back
  • initiating a conversation
  • launching a new project, idea, plan
  • writing a list – keep it short, deal with what’s most important or urgent in your life
  • doing what you say you will, recommitting to a promise
  • handling any technological or transport issues
  • grabbing someone’s attention
  • plugging back in, renewing your energy and focus

Important news may be revealed as Mercury switches direction in the zodiac. This could be related to events which took place at the end of last month as Mercury turned retrograde on November 26.

Retrograde Season

We are entering into an unusual season, one that’s characterised by retrograde planets. The inner planets, Mercury, Mars and Venus are all important when they enter their retrograde phases. In brief, it’s a time to slow things down, take the pace slow and rework your strategy.

Mercury (communication) turns retrograde three times a year, Venus (love/money) turns retrograde once a year and Mars (drive/action) turns retrograde every two years.

Here’s what’s happening. Mercury has just been retrograde from November 26 to December 15, 2024. Mars turned retrograde on December 6, 2024 and will be in retreat until February 24, 2025. There is then a small window without a retrograde inner planet from February 24 to March 2, 2025. This includes a lovely New Moon, a symbol of new beginnings on February 28, 2025.

However, Venus then turns retrograde from March 2 to April 13, 2025 and Mercury is retrograde from March 15 to April 7, 2025 at the same place in the zodiac. It’s a veritable smorgasbord of retrogradeness.

Pay attention to these dates and note that some of the retrograde phases will be more important to you than others. I’ve already written about Mars retrograde and will update you with the 2025 retrogrades in due course.
