The Lunar Cycle: In Tune With The Moon
One of the easiest ways to be in flow with astrology is to get in step with the lunar cycle.
In ancient times there were 13 months in the lunar calendar and the word ‘month’ derives from the old English word for ‘moon’.
Each Moon cycle lasts for approximately 28 1/2 days and when you first catch sight of the crescent moon, make a wish for New Moon wishes can come true.
The New Moon is the beginning of a new cycle and a perfect time to start something new. Sow seeds, launch a project, take the initiative. At this point, the Sun and Moon sit next to one another in the same sign of the zodiac.
The following two weeks is when you want to put out a lot of dynamic energy to see things grow. Then you reach the Full Moon phase, a time of completion, the culmination of the lunar cycle. This is the perfect time to celebrate and to acknowledge what you’ve achieved. At this point, the Sun and Moon oppose one another in opposite signs of the zodiac.
The subsequent two weeks is when you consolidate what you started, complete deadlines, start to wrap things up. The period directly before the next lunar cycle heralds the dark of the moon when the moon isn’t visible at all in the night sky. Traditionally this was a time to rest and retreat in readiness for the new New Moon and a wave of fresh energy.
