2016 Your Year Ahead: Jupiter In Virgo

Jupiter VirgoJupiter Virgo: Earth Sign Satisfaction

Jupiter is the biggest planet in astronomy and the best planet in astrology.

It represents opportunity, growth, expansion, freedom; it’s the planet of hope, trust and faith; Jupiter is ‘jovial’ and a lover of hedonism and wherever Jupiter is in your chart, this is where you can embrace life to the full.

Jupiter takes 12 years to circuit the zodiac which means it spends approximately 1 year in each star sign. Since August 2015 Jupiter has been in the earth sign Virgo where it remains until September 9th 2016.

What’s important to note is that Jupiter is in ‘detriment’ in Virgo, i.e. Jupiter does not feel comfortable in a sign that has a very different nature to its own. Jupiter wants to be expansive whereas Virgo pays attention to the details; Jupiter wants to go crazy whilst Virgo wants to play by the rules; Jupiter is optimistic joy and Virgo is meticulous efficiency.

You can see that this isn’t a marriage made in heaven and yet Jupiter in Virgo has many good qualities. This is the time to discover (Jupiter) what you’re good at (Virgo) and to hone your crafts and skills.

You might discover a vocation (Jupiter) that helps other people (Virgo), you might have a vision (Jupiter) to serve or to be of service (Virgo). This spells good news for the health and well-being industries (Virgo) and we all benefit from a timely reminder of the mind-body-spirit connection.

More earth planetary factors are Mercury retrograding through the earth signs and the dominant Virgo & Pisces eclipses. What’s important to note is that the Virgo axis of the zodiac highlights themes of service and sacrifice which are foreground during 2016.

At their best the signs of Virgo and Pisces tap you in to the rituals of daily life, you’re grateful for what you have, understand that less is more and you want to actively seek out a spiritual or devotional element to your own life.

Food and harvest are Virgo themes and Pisces rules the sea and liquids. How we share what we have with each other; how the earth feeds and nourishes us; how we create a sustainable environment; how we care for the vulnerable in our society. All these issues remain under sharp focus in 2016.
