Who Will Win The US Election?

Trump V Harris

As astrologers, we’re often asked to predict who’s going to win an election and it’s never straightforward. Even if you are able to interpret the astrology accurately, personal prejudice and desire inevitably kick in.

Back in 2016, when Donald Trump went head-to-head with Hilary Clinton, the majority of astrologers couldn’t foresee the unpredictable outcome, a Trump victory. This time around, it’s clear that this is a tightly-fought election campaign and either candidate coming out on top will be a surprise for someone.

Yet, astrology can bring a new perspective and there’s a lot to unpick about what’s coming up, so let’s dive in a little deeper.

The date of the Election is November 5, 2024. The two main candidates are Kamala Harris for the Democrats (b. October 20, 1964, 21:28, Oakland, CA, USA) and Donald Trump for the Republicans (b. June 14, 1946, 10:54, Jamaica, Queens, NY, USA).

Planetary Connections

What’s immediately noticeable is how their two charts are closely linked (you can see them at the top of the article). For example, Donald Trump is a Sun Gemini and Kamala Harris is a Sun Libra, both air signs, the element of communication, politics and the gift of the gab.

They both have motivated fire sign Moons – Kamala in Aries and Trump in Sagittarius. Plus, they were both born with a powerful and confident Mars in Leo, most notably Trump’s Mars on his Ascendant – there’s the red hair and trigger personality.

Yet, the synastry between them goes even deeper. Trump’s Sun is at 22° Gemini conjunct Kamala’s Ascendant and North Node at 24° Gemini. Kamala has Jupiter at 24° Taurus conjunct Trump’s Midheaven at 24° Taurus. Plus, Kamala’s Saturn at 28° Aquarius is conjunct Trump’s Descendant at 29° Aquarius. And, Trump’s Moon at 21° Sagittarius is conjunct Kamala’s Descendant at 24° Sagittarius.

Does this mean their destiny is intertwined? Perhaps. What we can be sure it means is that when one candidate is having a powerful transit, so is the other.

Jupiter & Uranus

When you’re looking at planets which denote success by timing, the two which leap out are often the planet of opportunity Jupiter and the planet of surprises Uranus.

On the day of the election, Jupiter’s retrograde at 20° Gemini and close to both Trump’s Sun and Kamala’s Ascendant. While Uranus is at 25° Taurus and close to both Kamala’s Jupiter and Trump’s Midheaven. It’s not surprising that they both have powerful transits on the day of the Election, making the outcome hard to call.

What can’t be missed is the fact that Jupiter is even more powerful in Trump’s chart as he has the karmic North Node at 20° Gemini in the 10th house of career and vocation, at the exact point where Jupiter is returning to on the day of the Election.

Does this mean a triumph for Trump? Certainly, it indicates a potent moment of destiny for him. Whether he wins or loses, his claim as American Idol is guaranteed.

Pluto Power

What’s intriguing about this election is Pluto’s role, the planet of power, corruption and destruction. Pluto’s been in earth sign Capricorn since 2008 and it’s back for one final visit. This began on September 1, Pluto turned direct in Capricorn on October 12 and Pluto leaves Capricorn on November 19. This means that during this all-important US Election, Pluto’s back in the star sign of the establishment, big business, hierarchies and the old school.

Plus, on November 3, there’s a powerful opposition between God of war and anger Mars at 29° Cancer and God of the underworld Pluto at 29° Capricorn. Mars opposite Pluto is a tough opposition which indicates power struggles, domination and force. The fact that these two planets face up to one another two days before the US Election on November 5 tells you a lot about the intensity and fierceness involved.

Plus, there will be two more Mars-Pluto oppositions on January 3 & April 27, 2025 cutting across early degrees of the Leo/Aquarius star signs. Whatever power games are in play this month may continue for some time to come.

On the day of the Inauguration, January 20, 2025, Pluto will be established in Aquarius, the star sign of the collective, equality, technology and the new age. Pluto is once again powerful, as there’s a Sun-Pluto conjunction at 1° Aquarius, evident during the Inauguration and exact on January 21, 2025. This suggests that whatever happens on November 5, we are entering a new era.

What It’s Really About

What will this Election come down to? When Christina and I were looking at chart for the New Moon in Scorpio on November 1 in our latest Astrology Talk Podcast, it was obvious that there are two major oppositions involved.

Firstly, the Mars-Pluto opposition but, on the same day, November 3, a Venus-Jupiter opposition, both powerfully active during the New Moon, November 1, and on the day of the Election, November 5.

Mars is a clear archetype for Trump as he was born with Mars on the Ascendant. Venus is a strong archetype for Kamala as she’s a Sun Libra, one of two star signs ruled by Venus. This shows quite clearly the divide within society and that what this election boils down to is what you believe in and where your values lie.

Mars rules men and Venus rules women and one of the key issues is abortion. It’s an important campaign issue, alongside the economy, equality, democracy, climate and foreign policy.

Who Will Win?

What I hope for is that everyone who’s eligible to vote turns up, as the astrology shows that this is going to be a tough-fought battle. Who do I think will win? I don’t think it’s clear cut, by any means.

Personally, I’m hoping that Kamala is the bearer of the new age of politics but there’s no doubt that Trump has powerful astrology playing out around the Election. Let’s see which way the stars fall.

Update: Trump won, as you will know unless you’ve been hiding under a duvet for the past few days. His transits this year have been extraordinary. Here’s a copy of my reply to one of the comments below:

‘Trump’s got Jupiter on his side all year as it’s not only in his Sun sign Gemini but moving through his career/success sector. Plus, the powerful indicator of social change, the Jupiter/Uranus conjunction in Taurus in April 2024 fell on his Midheaven. Christina & I were already talking about how powerful this was for Trump (and the Labour Government here in the UK) on our podcast, Astrology Talk. The Jupiter-Uranus conjunction is a marker of social change. To top it off, Jupiter was exactly on Trump’s north node in Gemini in the 10th house – the point of destiny – during the election. It’s compelling astrology.’

    1. As Martin says ‘you don’t speak for all Americans’. It’s a divided country when it comes to who thinks which candidate is best.

  1. This American woman is not interested in having Harris in any position of power. Yes, it would be great to have a woman president but she ain’t it.
Most astrologers come across as liberals so of course they tend to favor Democrats.
I think the Democrats were so sure back in 2016 that Killary, oops, I mean Hillary would win simply based on the fact she was a woman and previously a lifetime politician and Trump was a loud newcomer who said things that made us go hmmmm. Many were the silent majority that voted him in.
Harris has no policy except repeating Biden’s which has run our country downhill since day 1.
Sally, sorry for politically ranting on your site. It is frustrating times for sure.
I would be curious to know what you see in the future astrologically for Tulsi Gabbard!
    Thanks!

    1. Thank you for your comment, Kim. People feel very strongly about this election and no surprise as it’s a huge deal for our world. If anything, it’s intriguing to hear different people’s opinions – we shall see what unfolds on Tuesday.

  2. Hi Sally,
Now the election has taken place and Trump is the President-Elect.
I looked at a number of predictions that had been posted from astrologers. This was a hard election to predict, and it seems that most went with Harris.
I looked at some secondary progressions. How interesting that Trump’s s.p. Mars is within a degree of the conjunction to his Chiron! Hence the two assassination attempts recently. I didn’t notice any other significant progressions. For Harris, her progressed Sun is closely sextile her Saturn, and also within range of the sextile to her Sun, separating. I thought that would bring her victory, with the better progressions.
Could it be that the Jupiter transit you noted conjunct Trump’s North Node brought him the victory? He has said that he believes his survival of the assassination attempt was because God wanted for him to save his country. A destiny? The North Node is the point of destiny. And the tenth house placement could bring added emphasis.
It has been said that Trump has started a new movement in behalf of the common working people. Many people have felt belittled by media elites who have disparaged them while advocating for more left-wing liberal policies. It will be interesting to see the direction the country takes in the next few years.

    1. Thank you for your comment. Yes, I agree the progressions for Kamala were positive with her Saturn on the Midheaven – career/success point. And she has done extraordinarily well this year, regardless of the election vote. However, I don’t think progressions are enough for prediction, as they often act as a backdrop to the year and aren’t always date-specific. They need to be backed up by transits or lunations. So, for Trump, the progression of Mars to Chiron is the attack, the wounding – the assassination attempt. During the assassination attempt in July 2024, he had a Mars/Uranus conjunction on his Midheaven backing up the progression. Also, he’s got Jupiter on his side all year as it’s not only in his Sun sign Gemini but moving through his career/success sector. Plus, the powerful indicator of social change, the Jupiter/Uranus conjunction in Taurus in April 2024 fell on his Midheaven. Christina & I were already talking about how powerful this was for Trump (and the Labour Government here in the UK) on our podcast. It’s a marker of social change. To top it off, Jupiter was exactly on Trump’s north node in Gemini in the 10th house – the point of destiny – during the election. It’s compelling astrology.

      1. Thanks, Sally!
It is so interesting to see astrology play out in real-world events!
I took an astrology class many years ago, and the teacher explained that progressions are more individual, felt by the person experiencing them, while transits are out there in the world, experienced by everyone. When it comes to world leaders and elections, perhaps transits are even more important. What these people do matters to millions of us! And it seems they often take the “role” of the planets involved.
I have read a few books by astrologers who were big fans of progressions and thought they were far more important in events happening than transits, that often transits pass without any related events occurring. I like what you say about looking at a complete picture with all the factors. It certainly seems that transits told the story of this election!
I was looking at Trump’s chart again. I think we are seeing the expression of his Mars in Leo on the Ascendant. He does not back down from attacks of any kind. If anything, they make him more determined. Love him or hate him, that’s impressive!

        1. Interesting take on progressions and transits but not one I agree with. Transits are personal to you when they trigger your natal horoscope and way more accurate in my opinion. As with all astrology, there is no 100% guarantee of them working and it’s worth bearing in mind that you only have a few progressions a year and a lot of transits. But still my favourite technique to use for timing. I agree with what you say about Trump – he embodies courage which people love and he even looks like that Mars – the red planet!

  3. As shocked as anyone else, I am starting to perceive that while Trump won, people were not voting for him. They were voting against the sense that the 21st century economy is leaving most people behind. They were voting against a sense of disentitlement. They were voting out of fury about the way US capitalism crushes upward mobility. Pluto is signaling that Aquarius will require true “power to the people”. Kamala’s platform did not speak to them.

    1. Thank you for your comment. Yes, I think a lot went down to money – yet again. It seems to be the driving force for so many decisions, including war! I’m fairly sure there were a host of other reasons why people voted the way they did. I only hope that it doesn’t create more division within society and that people want to try and come together and understand one another. Let’s see what unfolds.

      1. I watch a lot of media reports from different sources, some more right-leaning, and some more left. Very different views of the politicians and events in the news.
In the last few days, it seems that many think this election showed voters moving more towards the center. Many felt government had moved too far to the left. Bread-and-butter issues like the economy, people being able to afford groceries for example, came to the fore. “Common sense” is a phrase being used a lot. Trump has promised to improve the economy.
We shall see how things progress.

        1. Agreed, I think it’s a lot about money and the cost of living for everyday folk. And the billionaires/money guys have done phenomenally well and boosted their coffers!

    2. This is exactly what Trump does and says: „Bringing back power to the people”. Trump is about to re-install the Republican States of America – North Americas state version of before 1871. Before the global elite changed Washington into a company and put it into control of the Vatican and British Crown. Trump revised all that. And he will do a lot more. It could not be farer away from truth that people did not vote for him. Look at his rallies, there has not been anything like that in the USA before.

      1. Hi Patrick, I’m glad you’re happy but you’re not going to win over all the people who dislike Trump, myself included. There’s a huge number of people in the US who would hate to attend a Trump rally. I don’t like his values and lack of morals – I fear for the rights of women in the US and what’s going to happen to our earth as climate change will not be high on his agenda. Trump and Elon are not exactly poster boys for the ‘pro-family’ ideals of the Republican Party either – between them they have 17 kids with 6 women. So let’s see what unfolds. I think there will be more drama to come over the next few months before the Inauguration takes place.

        1. I am not trying to win over anybody. I think the problem is dis-information by the media, Sally. They evoke fear in people about Trumps upcoming policy – his first term has not confirmed that. In former times Musk was foremost the Genius, now he is attacked, too. Why Trump also picks Robert F. Kennedy you may ask? I trust the universe has a plan in these crucial times on earth. I think it needs exactly those tough people, maybe people should also be shown that light and dark are interconnected (Law of Polarity). I have no fear, I await a magnificent future.

          1. I agree that light and dark are always interconnected, Patrick, as astrology reveals. I’m not sure the universe has a plan, however, and I think a lot depends on our actions as human beings. 🙂
