Uranus Changing Star Sign

The three modern planets, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are all changing star sign within the space of a few years. Pluto’s now in air sign Aquarius and Neptune has begun its journey into fire sign Aries. This week, Uranus is starting its flight through air sign Gemini and changes star sign on July 7.

Uranus was discovered in 1781 during a period of revolution and is the planet linked to innovation, technology, rebellion, freedom and change. On average, Uranus spends approximately seven years in each star sign, hence the title of this post ‘The 7 Year Itch‘.

There’s an erratic and unpredictable edge to Uranus. The planet of change is linked to radical action, genius moves and invention. Uranus in your star sign can bring moments of excitement and innovation or pull the rug out from under you.

Uranus In Taurus – 2018 to 2026

Uranus is the change-merchant and has been in earth sign Taurus since 2018. Taurus is the star sign linked to money, security, land, food, produce, nature, art, sex and fertility.

Uranus in Taurus has been a wake-up call for what we’re doing to our earth and our resources. The global environmental movement Extinction Rebellion was founded in May 2018 when Uranus first moved into Taurus. Its two founders were both Sun Taurus.

Plus, there have been significant financial changes over the last 7 years. A cashless society fits Uranus in Taurus symbolism, as does a digital revolution.

Another key signature of Uranus’s move through Taurus has been the farmers’ protests and there have been both crises and scientific innovations around food, not all good.

If you’re interested in the longer article I wrote back in 2018/2019 about what Uranus in Taurus would bring, you can check it out here: Uranus Enters Taurus. There’s a lot that’s played out as predicted by the astrology.

Uranus enters Gemini on July 7 but will return to Taurus on November 8, 2025 and takes up residence in Gemini on April 26, 2026 where it will remain until 2032/2033.

So what will it means as Uranus moves into air sign Gemini, the star sign of communication? One of the other modern planets Pluto is already in an air sign Aquarius and the technological, futuristic world is well underway thanks to AI and new ways of communicating.

Uranus In Gemini – 2025 to 2033

Experimental Uranus is likely to feel at home in Gemini for a couple of reasons. Firstly, Uranus doesn’t work well with the fixed earth sign Taurus. If you’re a Sun Taurus or you have Taurus planets, you’ll know that your star sign is averse to change and Uranus in Taurus has been the earth shaker. Uranus is likely to fare better in air sign Gemini. Uranus will be more flexible in nippy Gemini, one of the mutable star signs.

Secondly, Uranus is the higher octave of Mercury, Gemini’s planet – they are different modes of communication with Uranus being modern and technological. Yet, they are both about transmission and networks. Uranus rules the airwaves, flight, lightning and electricity.

Therefore, this feels great for new technologies, communicating with outer space, new discoveries and inventions. Perhaps, a new language will be discovered or there’ll be a flurry of twins being born, as Gemini is the star sign linked to siblings, specifically twins.

Uranus in Gemini is a powerful symbol of diversity, as Uranus is an eccentric influence, unconventional and pushes back against the norm. This feels much-needed in our current world.

There could be a revolution in transport, as this is Gemini’s realm. Electric cars are an obvious symbol for Uranus in Gemini, as Uranus is linked to electricity. Cars that drive themselves and little mobile pods that ride the airwaves.

There are likely to be further developments in brain chips turning humans into computers and major advances in speech recognition technology. Wherever technology can push back the boundaries of what’s possible, outrageous and radical Uranus will want to make it happen.

The combination of Uranus in Gemini feels speedy. On a personal level, you could expand your knowledge or learning at record speed. New records could be set around super-human feats of intelligence and robots could take over the world.

Use the internet and technology to boost your potential but don’t forget the human touch. Stay connected to life and your fellow human beings.

Uranus In Your Life

Uranus takes approximately 80 to 84 years to circuit the zodiac and this is when you celebrate your Uranus Return. Sometimes, you’re catapulted back into the spotlight unexpectedly during this phase in your life. It’s an ideal time to reinvent yourself and have a last shot at a long-held dream or goal.

Uranus has an erratic orbit but somewhere between the age of 39 to 45 you experience your Uranus half-return, the astrological equivalent of a mid-life crisis. Uranus is associated with shocks and surprise, as it’s the planet of spontaneity and rebellion.

If you hit 40 and do something wild, crazy and out of character, you’re leaning into Uranus active in your horoscope. There’s a saying that ‘life begins at 40’ and it’s often a decade when you’re willing to have a shot at something you’ve wanted to do since you were young.

On a personal level, be aware that Uranus can play out in different ways. It’s an impulsive influence, a trigger or catalyst for change. It’s also the planet of splitting off and moving away.

Uranus transits are often date-specific so notice what happens when Uranus moves into Gemini on July 7th. Uranus often plays out in a similar way to eclipses, i.e. external events come out of the blue, the things in life you didn’t see coming. Yet, you can use Uranus’ energy to get things moving.

A good way to work with Uranus in Gemini is to think differently as this is a symbol of radical communication. It’s a powerful symbol for community and finding your tribe, the more alternative and unconventional, the better.

The Bigger Picture

So far this year, four major planets have changed star sign which is highly unusual. It’s no wonder the world feels unstable with so much shifting in the cosmos. Here’s a quick update:

  • Neptune entered Aries – March 30 (changes star sign every 12 years)
  • Saturn entered Aries – May 25 (changes star sign every 2-3 years)
  • Jupiter entered Cancer – June 9 (changes star sign every year)
  • Uranus enters Gemini – July 7 (changes star sign every 7 years)

This is quite something, especially with the two modern planets Uranus & Neptune changing star sign. This follows on from Pluto’s move into Aquarius in 2023/2024 which only takes place approximately once every 15-20 years.

It means that all three of the modern planets, Uranus, Neptune & Pluto, have been moving in and out of different star signs. Neptune will return to Pisces later this year and be back in Aries in January 2026. While Uranus will return to Taurus later this year and will be back in Gemini in April 2026.

Life in April 2026 may seem remarkably different to what it was in March 2023 when Pluto was the first modern planet to start its journey into Aquarius and out of Capricorn.

This transitional period is a major time of endings and beginnings and things may feel unstable until the modern planets are more established in their respective new star signs.

Uranus in Gemini – Previously

As is often the case when a major planet prepares to change star sign, this is already being experienced in the world. Astrology is based on the premise ‘as above, so below’. It works in your life on a personal level but it works collectively too and the movement of the planets mirror events on earth.

This is already a time of major change in many countries around the world but one country that grabs the headlines is the USA. Its maverick wild card president Trump (b. June 14, 1946) was born on a Sun/Uranus conjunction in Gemini. If anything, his crazy unlawful decisions are going to get wilder. And note that he was born with Mars, God of War, on his Ascendant.

The previous times that Uranus was in Gemini were all major periods in history for the US. I’ve named the big events for America which took place while Uranus was in Gemini during the time periods below:

1941-1949: America became involved in World War II

1858-1866: American Civil War

1774-1782: American War of Independence

Obviously, it’s not only about America but the astrology is symbolically resonant with what’s currently happening in the States. Gemini represents community and Uranus is a symbol of the collective.

One symbol of Pluto in Aquarius is ‘power to the people’ and Pluto will remain in Aquarius until 2044. As Uranus moves through Gemini over the next 7-8 years, it’s likely to be a time of radical change and upheaval and community initiatives will grow. Find your tribe and stand up against injustice.
