Mercury retrograde
November 9 to November 29
Communication planet Mercury turns retrograde three times a year for three weeks at a time. This month is dominated by Mercury in retreat from November 9 to 29.
Therefore, you’re wise to get ahead and tick things off your ‘to do’ list in the first week of the month. Mercury retrograde is the time to avoid big decisions and major investments. It’s the planet which rules transport and trade.
If you need to do a deal or sign a contract when Mercury’s retrograde, read the small print and double-check everything. You may not have all the information at your fingertips.
What Mercury retrograde is good for is to actively engage with all the re-words – reconsider, reassess, reflect, retreat, redo, rework, revise, reconnect, reminisce, research, etc. Retrograde planets turn your attention inwards and towards the past. It’s a time to slow things down and rethink your next steps.
Mercury spends the first ten days of its retrograde phase in Sagittarius, the star sign linked to travel and foreign connections, higher education and the law. Double check visas, passports and paperwork and give yourself extra time if you’re travelling.
Mercury spends the second ten days of its retrograde phase in Scorpio, the star sign linked to the stock markets, power, death and loss, healing and transformation.
Secrets could emerge, avoid anything underhand or corrupt and keep your cards close to your chest. Don’t reveal anything important until Mercury turns direct at the end of the month.
The Uranus Factor
Wild-card Uranus leaves air sign Gemini and returns to earth sign Taurus on November 8. The planet of change will be in the fixed earth sign until April 26, 2026. Then, it takes up residence in Gemini for the following 7 years.
Uranus’ move back into Taurus feels volatile, so keep close tabs on events and, in particular, your money. This is because Taurus is the star sign which rules money. Taurus’ opposite star sign Scorpio is linked to the hidden side of finances and the stock market.
And, Uranus makes three powerful oppositions cutting across the Taurus/Scorpio axis on November 19, November 21 & November 30. This feels exciting but also volatile and unpredictable.
On a personal note, don’t take any unnecessary risks, especially financial, unless you know what you’re doing. The Mercury retrograde phase is another symbol of topsy-turvy financial markets. And things are looking crazy right now.
There’s always the possibility of taking advantage of a wildly unbalanced financial market, but it requires knowledge and courage to leap in.
Also, be wary on November 4 when there’s a powerful Mars-Uranus opposition cutting across the Sagittarius-Gemini axis of the zodiac.
This combination often coincides with accidents or rage. As this opposition falls the day before a Full Moon, emotions are already heightened so steer clear of drama and angry people.
Grand Water Trines
Amidst the chaotic astrology playing out this month, there’s a beautiful flow of energy between planets in water signs and the emotional realm.
Expansive Jupiter is in Cancer and turns retrograde here on November 11, while the planet of boundaries Saturn is in Pisces and turns direct here on November 18. This means that both planets are closely connected at 25° Cancer/Pisces throughout November.
The inner planets align with Jupiter and Saturn on November 17, 22 & 26 creating a Grand Water Trine in the star signs Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces.
A Grand Water Trine can inspire hope and faith and create an opportunity to turn dreams into reality. It has both psychic and healing potential. It does, however, generate a lot of water and emotion. Water can dissolve or drown or you drift away on the tide, lost at sea.
Knowing how to express your emotions and channel your emotions constructively is vital. Find an outlet that’s creative, artistic, compassionate, spiritual or healing.
Moon’s Phases
Full Moon Taurus – November 5
During the Full Moon, the light of the moon is at its peak. Traditionally, a Full Moon is the time to trust your intuition, make important decisions and bring matters to completion or culmination.
This is the start of the waning phase of the Moon cycle, an ideal time to release and let go of what’s no longer needed in your life.
The Moon in earth sign Taurus is a safe harbour and that may be what’s needed with wild astrology playing out all around this Full Moon.
This is when events could peak, whether out in the world, on the financial stage or in your personal life. Emotions are heightened and it feels dramatic.
New Moon Scorpio – November 20
A New Moon is a symbol of new beginnings. Traditionally, a New Moon is the time to launch a project, begin something new and start over.
This is the beginning of the waxing phase of the Moon cycle, an ideal time to set your intentions for the month ahead. Make a wish when you first catch sight of the crescent Moon, a couple of days after the New Moon date.
This month’s New Moon falls in Scorpio during the Mercury retrograde phase, so hold off on those new beginnings until the beginning of December.
