How are you doing after March’s crazy astrology? Two eclipses and a double whammy retrograde of Mercury (communication) and Venus (love/money) was quite the cosmic mix.
Two big examples of cosmic chaos were London Heathrow airport closing down after a power outage and the White House accidentally leaking war plans. I’m sure there are a lot more examples of things turning chaotic not only in the world but on a personal level too.
Therefore, it could come as something of a relief that April is a month of turning points. Here’s what’s happening:
Mercury turns direct – April 7
Communication planet Mercury turns direct in emotional water sign Pisces on April 7 after being retrograde since March 15.
Mercury turning direct is the time to plug back in, chase up correspondence, other people and get back on track with what you need to do. Reopen the lines of communication and get things moving.
Mercury moves back into fire sign Aries, the star sign where it turned retrograde, on April 16. Mercury in Aries is motor mouth, direct, fierce and outspoken.
Venus turns direct – April 13
Venus, the planet linked to love and money, turns direct in romantic, compassionate Pisces on April 13 after being retrograde since March 2.
Venus rules money and Mercury rules merchandise, the markets and trade. Therefore, mid-April may be a significant turning point for finances. Certainly, it’s a positive period to sort things out and get back on track with money matters.
Love too may reach a significant turning point during this period, especially as there’s a Full Moon in Libra, the star sign of relationships, on April 13.
Venus moves back into fire sign Aries, the star sign where it turned retrograde, on April 30. Venus in Aries is warrior woman, forceful and strong.
Both Venus & Mercury turn direct in Pisces close to where the Lunar Eclipse took place on March 14. If you have planets or angles close to 24-26° Pisces, you may have a real sense that things are starting to get resolved which went wrong mid-March.
Moon’s Phases
Full Moon Libra – April 13
During the Full Moon, the light of the moon is at its peak. Traditionally, a Full Moon is the time to trust your intuition, make important decisions and bring matters to completion or culmination.
This is the start of the waning phase of the Moon cycle, an ideal time to release and let go of what’s no longer needed in your life.
This month’s Full Moon falls in air sign Libra on April 13. As Libra is ruled by Venus and Venus turns direct on the same day, this date could prove significant for love or money. Decisions can be made.
During this Full Moon, the Sun is in a tight conjunction with wounded healer Chiron in Aries. Whether you’re a teacher, a healer or undergoing a process of healing, Chiron can play a pivotal role.
Embrace healing during the Full Moon phase, whatever this means for you. There may be a theme of atonement playing out.
New Moon Taurus – April 27
A New Moon is a symbol of new beginnings. Traditionally, a New Moon is the time to launch a project, begin something new and start over.
This is the beginning of the waxing phase of the Moon cycle, an ideal time to set your intentions for the month ahead. Make a wish when you first catch sight of the crescent Moon, a couple of days after the New Moon date.
This month’s New Moon falls in earth sign Taurus on April 27 and the Moon in Taurus is said to be a safe harbour.
However, this New Moon is square to Pluto, the planet of power, loss and transformation. Plus, it falls on the same day as the Mars-Pluto opposition – see below.

Mars opposite Pluto – April 27
Action planet Mars returns to fire sign Leo on April 18. Mars has already been in Leo from November 4, 2024 to January 6, 2025.
This is because Mars turned retrograde on December 6, 2024. This means it’s a good time to return to a project which started at the end of last year.
Mars in Leo is a creative dramatic force but the end of the month brings a warning. The Mars-Pluto opposition on April 27 is a tough combination which indicates power struggles, domination and force.
On a personal level, don’t put yourself in a situation which could turn volatile or violent. Instead, use your anger and passion (Mars), your power and resilience (Pluto) to bring about the right kind of change.
These two major planets faced up to one another on November 3, 2024 in Leo & Aquarius and again on January 3, 2025 in Cancer & Capricorn.
Power games or conflicts may intensify as the month ends. Alternatively, it could mean that a crisis situation which has been in play over the last six months finally comes to completion.
Saturn sextile Uranus – April 4
There is a major planetary aspect which is active all month and exact on April 4. This is a helpful backdrop to the month’s events and involves the planet of tradition Saturn working in sync with innovative, future-oriented Uranus.
It’s a combination which combines the old and the new. This is because Saturn is the last of the traditional planets and Uranus is the first of the modern planets.
This planetary aspect isn’t about throwing out what you’ve started or beginning again. Instead, this is perfect for renewal, reform, reinventing what you’ve done or reworking an old project.
Be progressive, adopt an experimental approach and turn what’s ordinary into something extraordinary. Saturn is in imaginative, creative Pisces and Uranus is in practical hands-on Taurus.
