Super Flower Blood Moon Eclipse

LUNAR ECLIPSE [5 Sagittarius 26]

This month’s Full Moon is a total Lunar Eclipse, when the light of the Moon is ‘eclipsed’ in its relationship with the Sun & Earth. During a Lunar Eclipse, the Sun & Moon are at opposite sides of the zodiac, this time around the Moon is in Sagittarius & the Sun in Gemini.

A shadow is thrown during an eclipse which is why eclipse symbolism is said to be ‘shadowy’ & hidden. Once the shadow lifts, the eclipse brings what’s hidden to light or sheds a new perspective on a current situation. 

Traditionally, you’re wise to wait a few days after an eclipse before taking action and it’s not a good date to choose to undertake a major project.

For some people, this could be the right time to clear the air, get issues out in the open and start the conversation moving, albeit dramatically. If you’re looking for an awakening, here it comes. Eclipses are often signposts, turning points in your life. They are significators of change.

Eclipses are linked to endings and beginnings. One door closes and a new door opens, someone or something is ‘eclipsed’.  Sometimes, the timing can be exact and events prove dramatic. Other times, there’s barely a flutter. 

Alternatively, this week’s eclipse may trigger a slow course of change as a series of small events move you in a new direction from now up until the end of this eclipse cycle in December 2021. 

Or, things will be activated on the Solar Eclipse in two weeks time during the New Moon phase on June 10, 2021.

Gemini/Sagittarius Axis

This eclipse is part of an eclipse cycle which cuts across the Gemini/Sagittarius axis of the zodiac. These two star signs are ruled by Mercury & Jupiter respectively. 

These two planets represent schools, education, language, foreign connections, travel, the media & the law, also religion. They are about communication, data and the flow of information. These are the areas where change will be rapid and dramatic.

The star signs Gemini & Sagittarius are linked to ideas & ideology, issues around race & religion, urging us all to challenge our thought patterns & reconsider our viewpoints, our beliefs, our values.

This could be a dramatic time for our Gemini & Sagittarius world leaders as eclipses can topple rulerships & pave the way for new beginnings.

At a basic level, you could say that this eclipse cycle is about lies (Gemini) & truth (Sagittarius). As eclipses are shadowy and hidden, knowing which way is up will be harder than usual.

Plus, with Mercury retrograde in Gemini from May 29th to June 22nd, we may be the ‘in the dark’ for a few weeks yet.

Freedom of speech, freedom of choice is a real world issue so dig deeper to find out what’s really going on.

Eclipse cycles re-occur approximately every 18-19 years. The last eclipse cycle here was December 2001 to November 2003, the previous one was June 1982 to December 1984. 

This is important for you if you’re one of the mutable star signs, Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces. Also, if the eclipse impacts on key angles or planets in your birth chart. Use a 1-2 degree orb.

Honour The Moon

As this is a Full Moon eclipse, listen to your intuition and slow down the pace. Consider your inner voice, the messages that life’s sending you. Be patient and questioning and be aware that emotions are running high. This is a time of powerful energy in the cosmos. Tap in to what the universe is telling you.

As the planetary patterns are a reflection of life here on earth, you too may be in the midst of some powerful change and transformation, whether inner or outer. 

Eclipse Themes

This eclipse falls square to Jupiter at 2 degrees Pisces and we know that big planet Jupiter expands what it touches. Therefore, expect heightened emotions, tensions to rise, over-blown bravado, bluff and grandiose reactions.  

You may decide to shed or let go of something during this powerful eclipse. You might witness division in the world, especially the way we communicate with one another & opposing belief systems.  

It’s wise to be flexible and adaptable now, to favour truth and justice, to expose lies. These are shadowy times, when it’s important to keep questioning and not lose faith.

The Solar Eclipse promises revelations and insight on June 10th/11th but the real turning point is June 22nd when Mercury turns direct.

This brings new information to light and what’s hidden is finally revealed. Where possible, put off making a big decision or major investment until Mercury turns direct.

Keep your options open, be flexible and adaptable, read between the lines, read the small print, be questioning. This is an intriguing and bewitching eclipse period.

Eclipse Watching

This will be a total eclipse of the Moon, the first since January 2019. It will be visible in the Americas, Australasia, the Pacific Ocean and SE Asia. You need to check what time – whether it’s sunrise or sunset. The UT of the eclipse is 11:14. Sadly, this eclipse won’t be visible in Europe.

The Full Moon itself should be spectacular as this is a Super Moon – its full name is Super Flower Blood Moon Eclipse. No doubt there’ll be plenty of images doing the rounds in the news and on social media. And we’ll all be able to witness the beauty of this Super Full Moon.
