Notice what happens at the start of the Mercury retrograde phase. Are there delays, frustrations or changes of plan? Be flexible and adaptable when the communication planet is up to its tricks. Often things take longer than planned.
This Mercury retrograde phase begins the day after a powerful Lunar Eclipse in Virgo on March 14. It’s a double whammy of illusion, confusion, a cosmic muddle and a mess. Take your time and don’t rush into anything new.
Mercury will remain retrograde for three weeks until April 7. This can be a time when you’re playing a waiting game and it’s wise to develop patience. Aries isn’t renowned for being patient so this could be a bigger challenge than usual.

Mercury turns retrograde in Aries, a symbol of the fast-talker, motor-mouth. It’s an impulsive and impatient placing for the planet of communication. A fiery Mercury means business and doesn’t want to hang around waiting for other people. Mercury in Aries wants to speak first, think later.
However, this isn’t the time to leap into action or speak without thinking. Mercury retrograde phases often coincide with misunderstandings and it’s a time to take the pace slow rather than charge in all guns blazing.
You may need to learn patience the hard way as Mercury in Aries is invariably impatient and quick to anger. Be aware that you could quickly become irritated and frustrated if things don’t work out the way you want.
Consider whether you can take some time out and use the Mercury retrograde phase to stop, rest and retreat. This might be especially important for the fire signs – Aries, Leo and Sagittarius – to ensure you don’t hit burnout. Try not to rush, as this could lead to accidents.
Double Whammy Retrograde
This feels like a particularly powerful Mercury retrograde phase as it coincides with a Solar Eclipse in Aries on March 29 and the planet of relating Venus is retrograde at the same time. It’s a double whammy effect. So what does this mean?
For starters, if you have planets/angles at 9°/10° Aries, you’re in the hot zone. This is where Venus turned retrograde on March 2, where Mercury turns retrograde on March 15 and where the Solar Eclipse falls on March 29.
It’s a loaded point in the zodiac and may feel electrifying. One minute, you’re charging back into the past, the next you’re moving forward at turbo speed.
Plus, it’s unusual to have the planet of love, money and sweet things Venus retrograde at the same time as the planet of communication and the mind Mercury. Both planets are linked to money and trade so it’s a double no-no for making major financial decisions or investments. And not surprising that the stock markets are going crazy.
Ideally, put the big decisions until mid-April if possible. Venus is already retrograde and won’t turn direct until April 13. If you do need to make a big investment during the next six weeks, ensure you read the small print carefully and ask all relevant questions.
Otherwise, the two planets represent different areas of life. Venus rules love and Mercury’s a social planet. Venus rules beauty and Mercury rules communication and transport.
What may happen during this double whammy retrograde phase is that your life is impacted because of what’s going on in a partner’s life or regarding a third party.
Also, it’s an indication that you’re wise to find your tribe, your people and plot and plan in secret or behind the scenes. Venus & Mercury are both social planets and working as a team, in cahoots.

Note that like Venus, Mercury moves back into Pisces and both planets will turn direct at a similar point in the zodiac, 24°-26° Pisces. This is close to where the Lunar Eclipse falls on March 14 at 23° Virgo/Pisces.
