Talk planet Mercury turns direct on August 11 after three weeks retrograde. This is major news as it’s been a doozy of a Mercury retrograde phase since July 18. Mercury has been on go slow in Leo, the ‘big cat’ star sign.
I managed to put my back out for a week – Leo rules the spine as well as the heart – and then tripped up on the beach and had a few bumps and grazes. Nothing major but it slowed me down.
Out in the world, it seems to have been particularly chaotic with earthquakes, tsunami warnings, volcanos, fires, floods, etc. Here in the UK, we also had air traffic control glitches.
The Mercury retrograde phase often coincides with extreme weather which disrupts transport, Mercury’s rulership. Communication issues, misunderstandings and technological breakdowns can also coincide with the Mercury retrograde phase.
Yet, Mercury retrograde can be a promising time for retreat, holidays, taking a step back and slowing down. It may have been an unusually creative Mercury retrograde phase for some of you as it fell in fire sign Leo.
Turning Points
From August 11, it may seem as if things are starting to pick up speed or order begins to be restored.
Here’s how to make the most of the planet of communication back up to speed:
- try again – second chances are a classic Mercury direct theme
- sort out any misunderstandings
- consider what Mercury retrograde taught you, i.e. where are you wasting your time?
- speak up, be direct and honest
- initiate a conversation
- write a list and deal with what’s most important first
- do what you say you will, recommit
- handle any technological or financial issues
- grab someone’s attention
- plug back in, renew your energy and focus
Mercury turns direct at 4° Leo which is a hot spot if you have planets or angles here. This means that Mercury’s triggering the Big Pattern of outer planets which are in early degrees of Aries (Saturn/Neptune) Gemini (Uranus) & Aquarius (Pluto).
Aries represents individual action and Leo is where you shine while the air signs Gemini & Aquarius link to the collective, a reminder of people power and coming together within society. Focus on your personal goals & aims and consider how you can attract the right kind of support or backing. Together, you’re bigger & better.
Venus-Jupiter Joy
This week’s Mercury direct turning point feels extra celebratory because there’s a a Venus-Jupiter conjunction the following day, August 12. Venus rules love, money, art and beauty and Jupiter expands what it touches.
Together, these two planets promise Big Love or Big Money. The Venus-Jupiter conjunction takes place once a year and is considered one of the best planetary conjunctions.
Plus, the two planets meet in the caring and kind star sign Cancer. Cancer represents home, family and security and Jupiter is a protective influence.
