This week, there are no longer any retrograde planets and you may start to feel the shift pulling you forwards. Plus, two key planets move into fire signs this week.
The three fire signs are Aries, Leo & Sagittarius, the motivators of the zodiac. Fire signs want to play, experience joy, be spontaneous and leap into action.
Mercury enters Aries – April 16
Communication planet Mercury first moved into Aries on March 3rd and turned retrograde here on March 15th. Mercury moved out of Aries and back into water sign Pisces on March 30th but returns to fire sign Aries on April 16th.
Mercury in Aries is the fast-talker, motor-mouth of the zodiac. It’s an impulsive and impatient placing for the planet of communication. A fiery Mercury means business and isn’t going to hang around waiting for other people. Therefore, this is a good time to put yourself first and do whatever you need to gear yourself up and get motivated.
Mercury in Aries is about making things happen, learning fast and speaking your mind. You may be ready to initiate something new and do it your way. On April 26th, Mercury returns to the same degree where it turned retrograde (i.e. it’s out of its shadow phase) and will remain in Aries until May 10th.
Mars enters Leo – April 18
Like Mercury, action planet Mars is leaving a water sign this week. Mars leaves Cancer and enters fire sign Leo on April 18th.
Like Mercury, Mars has been in fire sign Leo already from November 4, 2024 to January 3, 2025. This is where Mars turned retrograde on December 6, 2024.
In astrology, Mars is the warrior. When Mars is strong in a fire sign, this symbolises desire, passion, a fighting spirit, physical activity, courage and daring. Mars wants to get from A to B as swiftly as possible. Direct action is Mars’ domain, fierce and forceful.
Mars can power forward in Leo as this is a confident star sign. This combination is adventurous, daring, creative, loud and proud. You may feel revved up and raring to go once Mars is back in Leo. Perhaps, you’re picking up a creative project or idea which you were working on at the end of 2024.
Mars will return to the place it was when it turned retrograde on May 3rd (out of its shadow phase) and remains in Leo until June 17th.
Fire Power
You may be ready for action this week with Mercury’s move into Aries and Mars’ move into Leo. This will benefit the three fire signs in particular. However, it’s good news for everyone, especially if you’re ready for some joy, motivation and feel-good planetary energy. This is your opportunity to walk (Mars) your talk (Mercury) and do (Mars) what you say (Mercury).
However, there is a proviso because fire signs can symbolise hot air, bravado and foolhardy actions. Things could be heating up on the world stage and on a personal level.
Therefore, the Sun’s move into earth sign Taurus on April 19th could help to bring some common sense and stability. Although, next week’s astrology is extra lively. It may not be until the New Moon in Taurus on April 27th when things begin to calm down.
