Full Moon Gemini: Opposing Views

FULL MOON [19 Gemini 52]

London – December 12, 2019 (05:12 GMT)

New York – December 12, 2019 (00:12 GMT-5)

Sydney – December 12, 2019 (16:12 GMT+11)

This is potentially an emotional week with a Full Moon dominating on Thursday 12th December, the day of the General Election. In the US, the impeachment hearings for Donald Trump are underway. Note, this Full Moon is immediately powerful for both world events as Donald Trump, Boris Johnson & Jeremy Corbyn are all Gemini leaders.

This week’s Full Moon falls across the Gemini/Sagittarius axis, ruling travel, education, religion, beliefs, communication & rhetoric. The exact degree of the Moon is 19 Gemini 52, the Sun opposing it at 19 Sagittarius 52.

Full Moon Energies

In the lunar cycle, the Full Moon is a time of completion and culmination. The Full Moon will be most powerful for you if you have planets or angles in your natal chart within a 2 degree orb of the Full Moon degree.

Yet, all of us are more likely to experience stronger emotions, sleep restlessly and even display ‘lunatic’ tendencies (the word lunatic being derived from lunar, attributed to the Moon). One of the iconic images of the Full Moon is the wolf baying at the moon.

Feminine intuition and magic powers are heightened at the time of the Full Moon. This is one reason why the Full Moon is a time of celebration and ceremony. In ancient times, it meant the party could go on longer when there was no artificial light.

Reconciling Opposing Energies

The dynamic of a Full Moon in astrology is an opposition and always presents a challenge on how you synthesize opposing energies or clashing wants and needs.

There’s invariably an element of conflict but with that comes the opportunity to find a way to work together and use complementary skills or viewpoints for the unity of the whole. That’s the ideal at the least.

Mercury in Sagittarius

During this Gemini Full Moon, Mercury is its ruler and in its sign of detriment, Sagittarius. This can be a lot of blather and hot air. At its best, this is an enthusiastic, excitable Mercury, fond of philosophical debate.

Its flip side is a lack of tact, all talk and no trousers, ideology and meaningless rhetoric. Add to this the fact that the Sun and Moon are square to Neptune in Pisces and there’s an element of confusion or illusion around mid-week events. The hype is hyped-up to its maximum.

The Neptune influence on the Full Moon should make for some weird and wacky dreams, if you are able to sleep. Personally, the Full Moon crazy sleep patterns have already kicked in this week!

Venus Fly Trap

Plus, this Full Moon is sandwiched inbetween a Venus fly trap. Venus in Capricorn, Saturn’s sign, hemmed in by Saturn on Wednesday 11th and controlled by Pluto on Friday 13th. It’s testing astrology.

Take care you’re not caught up in a situation which is hard to get out of. Are those Gemini leaders listening?

If you are signed up to my weekly astrology newsletter, you will have seen my take on the astrology for the General Election. A void of course Moon traditionally means ‘nothing will come of it’, i.e. this suggests the country will remain split (Gemini rules duality). On a personal level, here are the areas in your life which are highlighted by this Full Moon. Read both your Sun sign and your Ascendant sign for a comprehensive overview:

  • Aries: Busyness close to home, neighbours & siblings versus travel & exploration
  • Taurus: Personal possessions & values versus other peoples’ money & joint resources
  • Gemini: Personal goals & self care versus relationships & one-on-one partnership
  • Cancer: Retreat & recuperation versus work, service, health & fitness
  • Leo: Friends, groups & networks versus self-expression, creativity, children & love affairs
  • Virgo: Career & vocation versus home & family
  • Libra: Travel & exploration versus busyness close to home, neighbours & siblings
  • Scorpio: Other peoples’ money & joint resources versus personal possessions & values
  • Sagittarius: Relationships & one-on-one partnership versus personal goals & self care
  • Capricorn: Work, service, health & fitness versus retreat & recuperation
  • Aquarius: Self-expression, creativity, children & love affairs versus friends, groups & networks
  • Pisces: Home & family versus career & vocation

Good advice during this Full Moon is not to get involved in a heated debate if you don’t want to end up in trouble. It’s potentially a noisy Full Moon, so find your quiet place, your sweet spot.

Also, stay true to your principles and speak your mind. In the UK this means, please do vote on Thursday 12th – your voice counts.

Here’s wishing you a happy & celebratory Full Moon.
