Full Moon Aries: Lessons In Love

Full Moon Aries

Full Moon [06 Aries 00]

29 September 2023 (10:59 GMT+1)

Super Moon

This week’s Full Moon on September 29th is the last of a run of four Super Moons. This is the Harvest Moon, the closest Full Moon to the Equinox which took place on September 23rd. The glow of the Full Moon will be bright and beautiful, bringing light to the darkness.

Full Moons are a time when emotions are heightened and life becomes more dramatic. The police and hospitals are often more prepared for a Full Moon weekend.

It’s a time of ritual and celebration too, when you are offered an opportunity to honour the Goddess of the Night in her full glory. The Moon world is witchy and magical, spooky and mysterious, a chance to reconnect with Mother Earth, the wider universe and the goddess within you.

During the Full Moon, events culminate, matters come to completion. It’s an ideal time to listen to your head as well as your heart and trust your inner voice. When you do so, you can tap into your intuitive, instinctual nature and make balanced decisions.

Aries Energy

This week’s Full Moon is in the sign of individuality Aries. Aries can be an explosive and passionate energy, strident and brave. The role of the individual becomes more important – ‘I did it my way’ is Aries’ mantra.

The Aries’ spark flicks the switch back on. It wants action, something new. When the world feels as if it’s out of control, this is when it’s important to take responsibility for your actions, to keep coming back to you.

The Moon in Aries opposes the Sun in Libra, the sign of relationships, during the Full Moon phase. How you are in the world impacts the people around you. Other people’s actions impact you in return.

Yet, you can still choose how to respond, how to be. You can make a choice every day on how you want to be around other people, out in the world and, most importantly, with yourself.

The Axis of Relationships

This could be an important Full Moon for relationships. This is because the karmic nodes moved back into Aries and Libra in July 2023 where they remain until January 2025.

This shift in energy, plus love planet Venus’ retrograde phase from late July to early September 2023, coincided with more than the usual number of break-ups and relationship issues.

The new eclipse cycle focuses on the star signs Aries and Libra. This Full Moon isn’t part of it and yet, it’s pulled into the pattern. Next month’s New Moon is a Solar Eclipse in Libra.

This week, on the same day as the Full Moon, love planet Venus is square to Uranus, a classic symbol of divorce or love splits. Obviously, this won’t play out the same way for everyone. Yet, unstable relationships may be exposed under the Full Moon spotlight.

Aries is the star sign that rules the self and Libra rules relationships. The challenge during this Full Moon phase is how to keep your own identity when you’re in relationship, either personally or professionally. Don’t lose yourself or lose sight of who you are.

The deeper learning comes from seeing and understanding yourself in relation to another. When you dive deep into love or a key partnership in your life, this holds up a mirror revealing more about you. Compromise is a necessary aspect of any partnership as is remaining true to yourself – often a fine line to walk.

Love Lessons

Yet, there’s more going on during this Full Moon that adds another layer, a new perspective. Look at Venus and Mars during the Full Moon and Venus is at 22° Leo while Mars is at 21° Libra. They are in a sextile aspect, a supportive connection.

Venus and Mars were lovers in mythology and the astrological glyphs are the symbols for women and men, love and sex. Mars has been chasing after Venus since she turned direct early September but Mars can’t catch up. Venus isn’t interested in hanging around and is getting away.

There’s an additional factor at play. The Sun is in Venus’ star sign Libra during the Full Moon and Venus is in the Sun’s star sign Leo. This means they are in ‘mutual reception’ i.e. working together.

There’s a technique in astrology that allows you to swap the degrees of the two planets when they are in mutual reception. Swap them around and this would put Venus at 22° Libra making an almost perfect conjunction to Mars. Is there a mediator or third party working as an interloper or facilitator of love?

Plus, the Venus-Uranus square can play out in different ways. Align this with a Full Moon cutting across the Aries/Libra axis of the zodiac and it could be an exciting time for love. See what happens when you open your heart, act spontaneously and let someone know you love them.

At first glance, this Aries Full Moon looks feisty and divisive. Yes, there is likely to be more controversy around relationships, gender equality, what’s acceptable behaviour and what’s not. In some circumstances, attack may be the best form of defence and self-respect should always be honoured and upheld.

Awe & Wonder

Delve a little deeper and this Full Moon could deliver something special. If you’re ready to embrace more awe and wonder in your life, go and stand under the glow of the Moon and bask in her beauty.

Listen out for a cosmic reminder that you can’t fully experience love in your life, if you’re not willing to be vulnerable and open your heart. Love and loss know one another intimately. They may be opposite ends of the axis but they are both great teachers on this awesome path we call life.
