New Moon [28 Scorpio 12]

The New Moon takes place on November 20. This is a powerful New Moon as it falls in the passionate water sign Scorpio, where the Sun and Moon sit side by side. Scorpio is fixed water accessing emotions and feelings on a deep level.
Traditionally, a New Moon symbolises new beginnings and is an excellent time to sow seeds and set new intentions. However, this New Moon falls while Mercury’s retrograde and is full of surprises – see below.
Scorpio Power
Scorpio evokes themes of regeneration, hidden riches and secrets emerging as this is the area of hidden knowledge. Go in deep, wait in silence, listen, be, experience the void.
When you wipe the slate clean, you can start over. When you let go of toxins, purge, empty out, you make space in your life for new commitment and intensity. This is Scorpio power at it best, the ability to let go of what’s no longer needed so you can channel your energy and purpose with laser focus.
Water signs represent emotion and ultimately they are silent. Practise being quiet during the New Moon to allow a different kind of knowingness to surface.
Scorpio is the star sign linked to darkness when the veil between worlds is at its thinnest. Open your windows and cleanse your home to let out the dark and allow in the light. Honour and release the past and create space to bring fresh energy in.
Grand Water Trines
During this New Moon, the planets are working together in emotional water signs. A big feature of this month is the faster-moving planets in Scorpio aligning with Jupiter in Cancer, Saturn and Neptune in Pisces.
Water Trines create a flow of energy which can be channelled into a creative, artistic, compassionate or spiritual outlet. It’s potentially psychic too, especially as Scorpio season is linked to the underworld and what lies beyond.
You’ll be feeling this flood of emotion during the New Moon phase and during the days around it.
The Sun aligns with Jupiter & Saturn on November 17, Mercury aligns with Jupiter & Saturn on November 22 and Venus aligns with Jupiter & Saturn on November 26. The planets are in flow linking the three water signs Scorpio, Cancer and Pisces.
Mercury & Uranus
However, it’s not a straightforward New Moon for two reasons. Firstly, communication planet Mercury remains retrograde and sits exactly next to the Sun and Moon on the day of the New Moon – the three planetary bodies at 28° Scorpio.
Therefore, are you wise to start something new on this New Moon? Possibly, potentially, especially as the Sun/Mercury cazimi conjunction takes place only a few hours after the New Moon phase. The cazimi conjunction can be a time of magic or miracles when you’re wise to listen to your hunches and life’s synchronicities.
This whole combination turns your attention inward, so there may be a deep inner transformation taking place. You may experience a knowingness about what’s right for you to do and a conviction around your next steps. Yet, you’re encouraged to keep a secret and keep your cards close to your chest.
Secondly, all three planetary bodies, the Sun, Moon and Mercury retrograde are opposed by the planet of change Uranus at 29° Taurus during the New Moon phase. Another good reason to listen out for synchronicities and be open to surprises and the unexpected.
This New Moon could bring a breakthrough and fast as Uranus is associated with awakening and innovation. New beginnings may happen spontaneously. Or external events are the reason why you need to start over and begin afresh. You rarely know with Uranus what to expect except that change is imminent.
Whatever power is unleashed, this feels like a significant New Moon phase. Yet, don’t go hell-for-leather and do your best to stay cool and collected. Don your Scorpio dark glasses and create your own air of mystery and intrigue.
