NEW MOON [20 Aquarius 41]
February 9, 2024 (22:59 GMT)
This weekend, there’s a New Moon, which in itself is a powerful symbol for a new beginning and a significant time to make a fresh start.
This New Moon falls in star sign Aquarius, ruling friends, groups and the collective. It’s a networking and social New Moon in the star sign linked to technology, astrology and all things modern. As Aquarius is the future-oriented star sign, it’s an ideal Moon to set your intentions not only for the month ahead but the year ahead as well.
Crescent Moon
New Moon energy kicks in a couple of days after the exact date/time of the New Moon. Make a wish when you first see the crescent Moon in the night sky which will appear at the weekend.
New Moon energy continues for the subsequent two weeks and all the planets currently have a free run through the zodiac. There are no retrograde planets until April 1st. This is a forward-moving period in the year, so make the most of it.
The Uranus Factor
This New Moon has extra buzz because the closest planetary aspect is to the planet of change Uranus. The New Moon falls late on February 9th (GMT) and the Sun-Uranus square aspect is exact on February 8th.
Uranus is co-ruler of Aquarius and closely linked to the New Moon activity. Uranus is the rebel planet, the inventor, the disruptor, the square peg in the round hole. If ever there was a time to stand out from the crowd and do something different, something unique, this is it. If you’re waiting for a catalyst to make things happen, the stars could be aligned.
You may not feel you fit in during the New Moon in Aquarius but does it matter? You may be full of ideas and want them to happen now, overnight. You might worry you’re going out on a limb and no-one will understand you. There’s an eccentric quality to this month’s New Moon. Yet, sometimes, the best ideas are ahead of their time.
Remember with Uranus, be ready for the unexpected. Not everything will work out the way you expect it to. Technological glitches and lightning strikes could cause havoc and Uranus’ motto is ‘anything goes’.
Jupiter Luck
Another powerful influence is big planet Jupiter active during the New Moon phase. There’s a square aspect between talk planet Mercury in Aquarius and enthusiastic Jupiter in Taurus immediately following the New Moon. These two planets come together on February 10th.
This is a lovely symbol for friendship and being around people who lift your spirits. It’s a great time to leap into life and embrace what you enjoy in the world. Be a positive thinker and look for the silver lining in any cloud.
Jupiter is a reminder that luck is an attitude. When you have a big vision, a willingness to take risks and a strong self-belief in yourself and what you’re engaged in, then luck and opportunity will find you.
Find your tribe, be innovative and different and line up some future goals during this lively New Moon phase. This could be a great time for online initiatives, as Aquarius rules technology. Make waves in your community. Encourage change and join in with progressive and future-oriented protests and activities.
Jupiter-Uranus Conjunction
The biggest planetary aspect this year is undoubtedly the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction at 21° Taurus on April 21st. The Leo Full Moon on January 25th was square to Jupiter and this weekend’s Aquarius New Moon on February 9th is square to Uranus.
This is giving you a flavour of what to expect during April. Wherever you have key planets or angles close to 21° Taurus in your horoscope, there’s excitement and electric energy encouraging you to take a leap of faith. Things are speeding up in the cosmos – can you feel it yet?
