Leo Season – Solar Eclipse
As August begins, Leo is the star sign of the moment as the Sun remains in Leo until the 23rd. Plus, communication planet Mercury joins the Sun in Leo from the 9th to the 25th. And, big planet Jupiter is now in Leo where it will remain until the middle of next year.
This turns the cosmic spotlight towards money in your horoscope. Leo rules your assets and possessions, your values and self-worth. Therefore, this would be a positive time to get on top of finances and put systems in place which can help the financial process. Decide what money means to you and where your values lie.
Plus, this month’s Solar Eclipse falls in Leo on the 12th, a powerful portal of energy. This is part of the Leo/Aquarius eclipse cycle which began in February 2026 and will continue until January 2028. Money matters are only going to become more important to you moving forward.
What’s notable about this eclipse cycle is that nearly all the eclipses are Solar Eclipses, i.e. turbo-powered New Moons. Solar Eclipses often coincide with accelerated growth when things happen fast propelling you forward at top speed. You could become bold and daring around money over the next eighteen months.
Plus, on the 15th, there’s a lovely Mercury/Jupiter conjunction in Leo. This combination is great for investing or speculating. Both planets are linked to education too, so you might be actively learning more about money. Perhaps, a conversation you have sparks a new idea on how to make money.
In addition, there’s a powerful Jupiter/Saturn trine aspect on the 31st which links your money sector – Leo – with your career sector – Aries. You may be saying yes to a new career path that’s potentially lucrative. Or you’re ready to invest in your future. Do whatever feels right for you.
Venus Libra
Also this month, the planet of love, money and beauty Venus moves into Libra, the star sign at the base of your horoscope. Libra is your home and family sector.
This suggests that loving connections and a safe base are the areas where peace and harmony can be found. You might be involved in an interior design or renovation project. Or you’re welcoming visitors into your home. Either way, it’s important you have somewhere in your life where you can rest and retreat and revel in the comforts of life.
Family are going to be important to you now. Perhaps, this is linked to the focus on money, whether you’re sharing expenses or you’re helping your family out financially.
Virgo Season – Lunar Eclipse
Earth signs like Virgo favour stability and routine. The Sun is in Virgo from the 23rd and talk planet Mercury joins the Sun here on the 25th. This is about your routine and life close to home.
If you’re a typical Sun Cancer, you favour routine in your life and enjoy your home comforts. The 27th could be a stand-out date for socialising and community matters. This is when there’s a magical Sun-Mercury cazimi conjunction in Virgo.
However, on the 28th, the following day, there’s a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Pisces. This eclipse is part of the Virgo/Pisces eclipse cycle which began in September 2024 and completes in February 2027.
You often feel eclipse energy more powerfully than other people because you’re a Moon child. Your star sign Cancer is ruled by the waxing and waning Moon which is why you often experience the whole gamut of emotions. Your moods can change as quickly as the shape-shifting Moon. Therefore, know that you might feel more emotional during this eclipse and your feelings may be close to the surface.
This eclipse highlights your education and travel sectors. Eclipses can steer you in a new direction as life steps in to change your plans. You might be studying to retake exams or you may feel unsure about the future.
This could be a time when you’re lost in your thoughts, perhaps feeling unsettled. If this is true for you, express your thoughts, write them down or talk to people you trust.
Travel and study, education and religion are the areas of your life that could be ripe for change. You may be exploring your spiritual path or be engaged in a clash or conflict of beliefs.
Or you receive important news about a course or trip. Be aware, however, that eclipse symbolism often indicates that something has to come to an end or be given up, before you can embrace something new.
You may need to be extra flexible, because change could come about unexpectedly. The reason for this is that wild-card Uranus is square to the Sun, Mercury and Moon on the day of the eclipse, the 28th.
It’s not usually wise to take a big leap of faith when Uranus clashes with other planets. At its most extreme, this could mean leaving the 9-to-5 and venturing into new territory. Perhaps, you’ve had enough of doing the sensible thing and you’re ready to seek pastures new.
Mars’ Power
Talk planet Mercury leaves your star sign Cancer on the 9th where it’s been for an unusually long time since early June. Two days later, action planet Mars enters your star sign Cancer where it will remain until the end of September.
Mars is only in your star sign once every two years and this can be a motivating, go-getting force. Mars rules passion and action, drive and ambition. Sometimes, it takes Mars to get you fired up and ready to rock and roll. Leap into the driving seat of life once Mars is on your side.
Plus, this may link back to events in the middle of last year when expansive Jupiter moved into your star sign Cancer, in June 2025. Since then, the personal sector of your horoscope has been active. And, this month, Mars is coming along to get everything moving again.

- Know that eclipses are closely linked to the karmic nodes and wheel of destiny – they often act as a signpost or turning point.
