Update – written on March 18 2026
Only 3 out of 6 this year, although Michael B Jordan was one of the three who had strong astrology in the Best Actor category, so that would have made it 4 out of 6. The Sun shining bright on Michael’s natal Jupiter was good news for him – see below. I wouldn’t have gone for Amy Madigan or Sean Penn looking at their astrology. Sean Penn was born on a Sun/Uranus conjunction so maybe he was the surprise factor.
There were some notable wins for the women especially Autumn Durald Arkapaw who became the first woman ever to win the Best Cinematography award for her work on Sinners. (I watched Sinners coming home on the plane from India and thought it was fantastic – Michael B Jordan totally deserved his win). And I loved that the K-Pop Demon Hunters all girl trio won Best Song for Golden.
Oscar Predictions
The Oscars astrology predictions have been an annual affair on this website since 2017. I started the predictions to see whether astrology could help predict the winners and, the clear answer is yes. You can search back on the website to look at the astrology and the predictions for the last eight years. This year’s Oscars ceremony takes place on March 15th.
Oscars’ Astrology 2026
To make the Oscars’ predictions, the chart for the start of the awards ceremony can be revealing (see chart at the bottom of this article). This shows the main astrology to look out for and what themes may be foreground.
This year, the Oscars ceremony takes place in Pisces season as befits the glossy Hollywood glamour of the movie awards ceremony. Pisces’ modern ruler is Neptune linked to film, beauty and fashion trends.
However, for the first time since 2012, Neptune is no longer in Pisces, the Hollywood star sign but has moved into fiery Aries. It will be interesting to see whether this plays out in the Oscar wins. Neptune’s currently at 1° Aries.
This year, the Sun rules the Leo Ascendant and is at 25° Pisces making a friendly sextile aspect to Uranus at 28° Taurus in the career/success sector of the horoscope. Uranus is often a nod to newcomers doing well, sometimes it’s the outsider who wins. What’s notable about this year’s nominees is that there are so many newcomers to the list.
In fact, only 5 of the names below have previously won an Academy Award. I’m not sure that’s highly unusual but it’s likely to be a clean sweep for new Oscar winners.
The ruler of the Taurus Midheaven is Venus at 11° Aries, a strong symbol for women and girl power. The Moon at 16° Aquarius is on the Descendant at 18° Aquarius, another nod towards women being big winners this season.
What is notable about this year’s awards ceremony is that communication planet Mercury remains retrograde. Mercury will turn direct on March 20 but could play a trickster role and make predicting more challenging.
Also, Mercury is coming off a lively conjunction to action planet Mars when words (Mercury 9° Pisces) can be used as weapons (Mars 10° Pisces). It would be no surprise if many of the winners don’t comment on what’s happening in the World.
As always to make the predictions, I’ll be looking at Jupiter, the biggest and best planet. It often shows for success and Jupiter’s currently at 15° Cancer. Plus, Jupiter’s only just turned direct on March 11 and this gives it extra power.
Expect the Cancerians to be prominent. Or, look out for the nominees where Jupiter’s lively in their horoscope. There are a lot of fabulous Cancer actors, e.g. Tom Hanks, Meryl Streep, Tom Cruise, Margot Robbie.
Here are my predictions for the top 5 categories plus Best Film. As always in astrology, you’re hoping to find times of birth for the nominees but that’s not always the case. The time of birth can help you predict more accurately and I’ve noted whether this information is available in each category.
Actress In A Supporting Role
- Elle Fanning (b. April 9, 1998, 4:20am, Conyers, GA, USA) Sun Aries – Sentimental Value
- Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas (b. April 9, 1989) Sun Aries – Sentimental Value
- Amy Madigan (b. September 11, 1950) Sun Virgo – Weapons
- Wunmi Mosaku (b. July 31, 1986) Sun Leo – Sinners
- Teyana Taylor (b. December 10, 1990) Sun Sagittarius – One Battle After Another
There are four new nominees in this category and only one who’s had a previous nomination but not won, Amy Madigan. Sadly, there’s only one birth time available so this limits the astrology. Here’s what we do know.
Elle Fanning is a Sun Aries with four planets in the first star sign. Her Midheaven – success point is 0° Sagittarius so the recent Saturn/Neptune conjunction was making a lovely trine aspect to it. Her Ascendant is 14° Aquarius which means the Moon is applying to it. And, she has Jupiter, her career planet, at 15° Pisces. This means that she’s got a lovely Jupiter trine aspect too. It’s compelling astrology.
Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas is another Sun Aries in the same movie as Aries Elle Fanning, another newcomer to the Oscar nominations. In fact, she was born on the same day as Elle, although different years. It was her Jupiter Return last year – Jupiter Gemini – and, without a time of birth, there’s not a lot of exciting astrology leaping out.
Amy Madigan is a Sun Virgo and is born on a New Moon – this was a common theme looking at the charts of the nominees. Her Pluto is at 18° Leo and on the Ascendant of the Oscar’s chart. Plus, her Mercury is at 29° Virgo so the Saturn/Neptune conjunction fell opposite this as it moved from Pisces to Aries.
Wunmi Mosaku is a Sun Leo with her Mercury at 26° Cancer which means Jupiter will be there in a few month’s time. She has her natal Jupiter at 22° Pisces and the Sun would have been conjunct her Jupiter three days previously.
Teyana Taylor is the hot favourite for this category. Sadly, there’s no birth time for her. A Sun Sagittarius, she has four planets in Capricorn and, most notably, her Mars is at 0° Gemini. Therefore, the Saturn/Neptune conjunction would have been sextile this point in her horoscope. She was born the year after the major Saturn/Neptune conjunction but it was still active in her horoscope. Having to look elsewhere for possible success, her progressed Sun has reached her natal Saturn this year. Is it enough for a win? Time will tell.
Astrologer’s Choice: A tough category to predict. I love Elle Fanning’s Jupiter ‘kiss’ but I’m going for Teyana Taylor.
Actor In A Supporting Role
- Benicio del Toro (b. February 19, 1967, 12:10pm, San Juan, Puerto Rico) Sun Pisces – One Battle After Another
- Jacob Elordi – (b. June 26, 1997) Sun Cancer – Frankenstein
- Delroy Lindo – (b. November 18, 1952) Sun Scorpio – Sinners
- Sean Penn – (b. August 17, 1960, 3:17pm, Burbank, LA, USA) Sun Leo – One Battle After Another
- Stellan Skarsgard – (b. June 13, 1951) Sun Gemini – Sentimental Value
Benicio del Toro is no newcomer to the Oscars. His Sun is at 0° Pisces and his Saturn is at 28° Pisces so the Saturn/Neptune combination is interesting for both. It’s been his Saturn Return and his Sun had a lovely semi-sextile aspect to it. Plus, it’s his Jupiter Return year, although his Jupiter is at 25° Cancer. Lovely astrology nonetheless.
Jacob Elordi is an Australian actor who’s playing some epic roles – Frankenstein and Heathcliff. A Sun Cancer, he’s got Jupiter in the mix with three planets in the water sign, although none being directly activated by Jupiter. With no time of birth for him, there’s not a lot else to go on.
Delroy Lindo is a new nominee to the Oscars and a Sun Scorpio. Being born in 1952, he was also born on a Saturn/Neptune conjunction in Libra. He has Uranus at 18° Cancer so Jupiter’s heading towards it, although we don’t know what it rules in his horoscope. His north node is 15° Aquarius so the Moon is upon it.
Sean Penn has previously won two Oscars so he’s not a newbie. A Sun Leo, he has the Moon at 5° Cancer and his Midheaven is 2° Libra so Neptune is opposite it. Not a lot else leaping out astrologically
Stellan Skarsgard is definitely one to watch but no time of birth. A Sun Gemini, he was born with Uranus at 8° Cancer so Jupiter’s been over that point this year. Plus, it’s his nodal return and his north node is 13° Pisces close to the Mercury/Mars conjunction. In addition, his Jupiter is 10° Aries which means that lovely Venus at 11° Aries is upon it.
Astrologer’s Choice: Stellan Skarsgard
Actress In A Leading Role
- Jessie Buckley (b. December 28, 1989) Sun Capricorn – Hamnet
- Rose Byrne – (b. July 24, 1979, 10:16, Sydney, Australia) Sun Leo – If I Had Legs I’d Kick You
- Kate Hudson – (b. April 19, 1979, 10:51, Los Angeles, CA, USA) Sun Aries – Song Sung Blue
- Renate Reinsve – (b. November 24, 1987) Sun Sagittarius – Sentimental Value
- Emma Stone – (b. November 6, 1988 , 9:30am, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) Sun Scorpio – Bugonia
If the current awards are anything to go by, the Oscar for Best Actress Is Jessie Buckley in Hamnet. She was brilliant in Hamnet, a mesmerising performance. Unfortunately, there’s no time of birth for her but it is her Jupiter Return year – her Jupiter is at 5° Cancer which is a lovely nod towards doing well. Jessie is a Sun Capricorn and was born with six planets in this hard-working star sign. Her natal Saturn is at 15 Capricorn 08 so Jupiter’s exactly opposite it. Plus, her karmic north node is at 17° Aquarius and the Moon is applying to it during the ceremony. It’s her first nomination for Best Actress.
Rose Byrne is an Australian actress with her Sun at 0° Leo. This means that the Saturn/Neptune conjunction at 0° Aries was exactly trine her Sun. She’s got compelling astrology as we have a time of birth for her which puts her Midheaven – success point at 5° Cancer and she has Venus in the 10th house of career/success at 21° Cancer so lucky Jupiter’s in the mix.
This is Kate Hudson’s first nomination for Best Actress. A dynamic Sun Aries, what’s notable about Kate’s horoscope is that her Mercury is at 1° Aries 53 which means Neptune is almost on it. Plus, her Midheaven is 12° Aries which means Venus is very close to it – at 11° Aries. In addition, her Ascendant is 24° Cancer so Jupiter’s heading that way and it’s her Jupiter Return year – Kate’s Jupiter is at 29° Cancer. She’s a strong contender.
Renate Reinsve is a first time nominee and her Sun is at 1° Sagittarius – therefore, she’s got the lovely trine aspect from Neptune – same as Rose Byrne. Plus, Renate has Lilith at 16° Cancer, the wild one, which means that lovely Jupiter is almost on it. Without a time of birth, however, there’s no more information to glean from her horoscope.
Emma Stone is a previous Oscar winner, a super Scorpio born on a Sun/Pluto conjunction. Her Mars is at 0° Aries so the recent Saturn/Neptune conjunction was bang on it – Mars on her IC but an important planet being a Sun Scorpio. Jupiter’s not evident in her horoscope, however, and her Jupiter Return was last year.
Astrologer’s Choice: Some fantastic astrology for this group with Neptune transits prominent. However, I’m going to go for Jessie Buckley with that exact Jupiter opposition.
Actor In A Leading Role
- Timothée Chalamet (b. December 27, 1995, 9:16 pm, Manhattan, NY, USA) Sun Capricorn – Marty Supreme
- Leonardo DiCaprio – (b. November 11, 1974, 02:47, Los Angeles, CA, USA) Sun Scorpio – One Battle After Another
- Ethan Hawke – (b. November 6, 1970) Sun Scorpio – Blue Moon
- Michael B Jordan – (b. February 9, 1987, 8:14pm, Orange, CA, USA) Sun Aquarius – Sinners
- Wagner Moura – (b. June 27, 1976, 12:00, Salvador, Bahia, Brazil) Sun Cancer – The Secret Agent
An interesting category as there are birth times for four of the five nominees.
Timothee Chalamet has been nominated before – he was up for Best Actor last year for A Complete Unknown – but he’s not won, as yet. Another super Capricorn – he has five planets here including the Sun – it may not be his year again unless the Academy is feeling kind. The only nod towards an unexpected win is that his Midheaven – success point – is 28° Taurus and Uranus is currently at 28° Taurus. His Moon is at 27° Pisces so the Sun’s applying to it as well.
Leonardo DiCaprio has already won an Oscar. A Sun Scorpio, he was born with the Midheaven – success point – at 3° Cancer and he has Saturn at 18° Cancer in his career sector. Jupiter’s not far off and his career planet is the Moon at 15° Libra which means Jupiter’s exactly square his Moon during the award ceremony. It’s intriguing astrology
Ethan Hawke is the only nominee in this category without a birth time which is a shame because he’s a hot favourite. He’s been nominated before but hasn’t won as yet. Another Sun Scorpio, Ethan was born on a Sun/Jupiter conjunction with Jupiter at 15° Scorpio. Therefore, he’s getting a lovely Jupiter trine aspect. Interestingly, the time unknown chart put his Moon at 16° Aquarius, exactly where the Moon is when the awards ceremony begins. Plus, he was born with Neptune at 0° Sagittarius so he’s had the ‘dreams come true’ Saturn/Neptune conjunction trine this point in his horoscope.
Michael B Jordan is a Sun Aquarius, the star sign of the moment. His Sun is at 20° Aquarius relatively close to the Moon at 16° Aquarius honing in on his Sun. We do have a time of birth which puts his Midheaven – success point – at 3° Cancer and he has the Moon at 10° Cancer in his career sector. Therefore, Jupiter’s been a positive force for him over the last year but is now separating and moving away. He does have Jupiter at 25° Pisces exactly on his Descendant and that’s where the Sun is on the day – 25° Pisces. Is it celebration for himself or another? – the Descendant point.
Wagner Moura is another first time nominee and a Sun Cancer so immediately this is interesting, thanks to Jupiter. His Sun/Venus conjunction is at 5°-8° Cancer which means that Jupiter has already been there but has been a positive influence for him this year. His Midheaven is 10° Capricorn which means that his career planet is Saturn at 2° Leo and Neptune is trine that point in his chart.
Astrologer’s Choice: Some wow astrology for this category especially Ethan Hawke, Michael B Jordan & Wagner Moura. I’m going for Ethan Hawke.
Director
- Paul Thomas Anderson (b. June 26, 1970, 3:47, Los Angeles, CA, USA) Sun Cancer – One Battle After Another
- Ryan Coogler (b. May 23 1986) Sun Gemini – Sinners
- Josh Safdie (b. April 3, 1984) Sun Aries – Marty Supreme
- Joachim Trier (b. March 1, 1974) Sun Pisces – Sentimental Value
- Chloe Zhao (b. March 31, 1982) Sun Aries – Hamnet
Paul Thomas Anderson has had many Oscar nominations but never won as yet. He is a Sun Cancer which is a good sign thanks to Jupiter. Plus, he has Mars at 15° Cancer which means Jupiter’s directly on it. His Midheaven – success point – is 15° Aquarius so the Moon is upon it and it’s his nodal return – his north node is at 4° Pisces.
Ryan Coogler is the director of the hugely-nominated Sinners and a first-time nominee. A Sun Gemini, he has Venus in Cancer but at 2°. His Sun, however, is also at 2° Gemini so Saturn and Neptune are active with their theme of new beginnings. It’s a shame there’s no time of birth because the noon chart puts his Moon at 1° Sagittarius and also being triggered in a positive aspect from Neptune.
Josh Safdie is another Sun Aries, a dominant star sign this season. He was born with Neptune at 1° Capricorn and Pluto at 1° Scorpio so Neptune’s active for him. Most promisingly, his Saturn is at 15° Scorpio 09 with Jupiter exactly trine to it, although we don’t know what Saturn rules in his horoscope.
Joachim Trier is a Sun Pisces with his Sun at 10° so Jupiter’s been trine to it previously. He has Mercury at 1° Pisces and Mars at 1° Gemini which means Neptune is active for him and the Mercury/Mars conjunction is bang on his Sun. Therefore, if he gets hold of the microphone you can expect him to be vocal.
Chloé Zhao is another Sun Aries and has won previously for Nomadland. Her Sun is at 10° Aries so Venus is on it which could be lovely for her. She has Mercury at 28° Pisces so the Saturn/Neptune endings and beginnings has been active for her. Plus, her north node is at 18° Cancer and Jupiter’s moving toward it. I don’t know that she’s going to win this time but I think she’s going to be foreground.
Astrologer’s Choice: Paul Thomas Anderson.
Best Picture
- Bugonia
- Frankenstein
- F1
- Hamnet
- Marty Supreme
- One Battle After Another
- The Secret Agent
- Sentimental Value
- Sinners
- Train Dreams
Astrologer’s Choice: It’s a competition between One Battle After Another & Sinners – both titles resonate with what’s happening in the world. I’m leaning towards One Battle After Another.
