Crikey – September was quite the ride around the world and on a personal level. Eclipse season played big this time around.
In response, October offers you an opportunity to gather yourself and focus on what’s important.
Some of the planets are encouraging a relaxed pace, although others are bringing intensity. Here’s what’s coming up:
Pluto turns direct – October 14
Pluto is the planet of extremes, linked to power and control. It can wipe out and raze to the ground, yet is a symbol of the phoenix who rises from the ashes.
Pluto is the first of the modern planets to turn direct and does so in early degrees Aquarius on October 14 – power to the people.
Pluto’s change of direction may be intense for you. Alternatively, there may be insights or hidden nuggets that have been shaped and perfected since May 4, the day Pluto turned retrograde.
Perhaps, there are hidden gifts or insights which you can now bring forth from the dark and use them to guide you and illuminate the path ahead.
Neptune re-enters Pisces – October 22
A big theme of this year is endings and beginnings as the outer planets move in and out of star signs.
Last month, Saturn left the first sign of the zodiac Aries and returned to the last sign of the zodiac Pisces. This month, it’s Neptune’s turn on October 22.
Like Saturn, Neptune leaves Aries and returns to Pisces, its sign of rulership. Neptune was God of the sea in mythology and loves to be in Pisces’ watery realm.
Neptune in Pisces favours dreams, idealism, fantasy, romance and losing yourself, in a good way. It’s a compassionate influence, inclusive and non-divisive.
Neptune’s journey into Pisces began in 2011 and this is the last chapter.
Neptune will leave Pisces and return to Aries on January 26, 2026 and won’t be back for another 165 years.
Libra Season
The Sun remains in air sign Libra favouring balance and harmony until October 23.
The Sun is joined by the planet of relating Venus who moves into her sign of rulership Libra on October 13. Plus, talk planet Mercury starts the month in Libra up until October 6.
Put all this together and it’s an ideal month to work on your relationships, as Libra is the diplomat and mediator of the zodiac. Prioritise love and care for other people and be an upholder of peace.
Scorpio Season
Scorpio season begins officially on October 23 this year. However, action planet Mars is strong in Scorpio throughout October and talk planet Mercury is in Scorpio from October 6 to October 29.
This means that the Scorpio themes of power and transformation are prevalent throughout the month.
[n.b. Mercury will be back in Scorpio from November 19 to December 11. This tells you that Mercury’s next retrograde phase is on the way. Mercury will turn retrograde in Sagittarius on November 9 and turn direct in Scorpio on November 29. A good reason to get things moving this month!]
Scorpio season coincides with Halloween, Day of the Dead and Samhain, a powerful time to reconnect with ancestors and embrace the night world and all that lies beyond.
During Scorpio season in the northern hemisphere, nature begins to break down to mulch back into the earth creating rich compost for a new season of growth next year.
The cycle of life, death, rebirth and renewal is closely aligned with the star sign Scorpio. Tap into your witchy nature, grab your black cat and broomstick and conjure up some magic.
Moon’s Phases
Full Moon Aries – October 7
During the Full Moon, the light of the moon is at its peak. Traditionally, a Full Moon is the time to trust your intuition, make important decisions and bring matters to completion or culmination.
This is the start of the waning phase of the Moon cycle, an ideal time to release and let go of what’s no longer needed in your life.
This month’s Full Moon falls across the Aries/Libra axis on October 7. The ruler of the Full Moon is Mars strong in Scorpio. Be decisive and cut through the crap.
New Moon Libra – October 21
A New Moon is a symbol of new beginnings. Traditionally, a New Moon is the time to launch a project, begin something new and start over.
This is the beginning of the waxing phase of the Moon cycle, an ideal time to set your intentions for the month ahead. Make a wish when you first catch sight of the crescent Moon, a couple of days after the New Moon date.
This month’s New Moon takes place in Libra, the star sign of relationships, on October 21. The ruler of the New Moon is Venus strong in Libra. There’s power and intensity during this New Moon phase but favour love over hate.
Last Word – People Power
As governments and people in power push us to be divided within society and in the world, refuse to forget your fellow human beings.
The fights and protests need to be switched back towards those who hold the power and wealth and want inequality in the world. Don’t be blinded by what’s happening or fall into oblivion.
