SOLAR ECLIPSE [29 Virgo 05]
September 21, 2025 (20:54 GMT)
Partial Eclipse
Eclipse season continues this week with a supersonic Solar Eclipse in Virgo on September 21. This eclipse is part of the Virgo/Pisces eclipse cycle which began in September 2024 and continues until February 2027.
It’s a partial eclipse which means that the disc of the Sun isn’t completely in shadow. Instead, it looks as if it a bite’s been taken out of it and it won’t be visible in many areas of the world.
Endings & Beginnings
However, this is a super-interesting eclipse for a couple of reasons. Firstly, this eclipse falls right at the end of the star sign, one of the critical degrees, 29° Virgo. This follows on from last month’s New Moon at 0° Virgo on August 23rd.
Effectively, a Solar Eclipse is a turbo-powered New Moon, a symbol of new beginnings. Yet, this eclipse is about endings as well as beginnings. It may be encouraging you to shed something that’s no longer needed.
A New Moon Solar Eclipse acts like a New Moon igniting you into action as you move into a new stage or phase in life. Yet, during this eclipse, one door may have to close before a new door can be opened.
There’s another reason for this theme of endings as the planet most closely connected to the eclipse is Saturn. Saturn’s moving back through Pisces, the last star sign, and completing its journey here over the next few months.
Saturn opposes the Sun and Moon on the day of the eclipse. As this is the planet of limitation, obstacles and boundaries, consider what this means for you. What’s slowing you down? Or where are you wise to stop and reflect before moving on?
Eclipse lore states that you’re wise not to launch anything on the eclipse date but to wait and see what emerges.
Virgo/Pisces Axis
The Virgo/Pisces axis in the zodiac represents the meeting of the physical and spiritual realm. Virgo rules health and the body and favours ritual and time in nature. Virgo is the star sign of service to others, including animals.
Whereas, Pisces is a cosmic influence expanding you out into the universe, encouraging you to surrender to life and have trust and faith in the universe. Yet, be wary of losing yourself in a way that’s not beneficial to your body or mind and tend diligently to your soul and spirit.
There’s a theme of cleaning and cleansing, getting rid of toxic energies to allow space for what’s new and pure to emerge. In the western world, many of us lack a connection to spirit or faith, which can be deeply healing and reassuring.
Do whatever’s needed during this powerful eclipse phase to seek a devotional aspect to your life so you can be in flow. Healing work, prayer or meditation, seek the sacred flame within.
Solar Eclipse
There’s another important factor regarding this week’s Solar Eclipse as it’s the only Solar Eclipse in the whole Virgo/Pisces eclipse cycle. This feels significant.
Wherever you find the star sign Virgo in your horoscope, there’s currently a powerful beam of energy. Sometimes, Solar Eclipses coincide with accelerated growth when the wheel of fortune kicks in moving you in a new direction.
Eclipses can swing both ways – they can coincide with miracles and synchronicities, also crisis and the unexpected. There’s real potential, however, for this Solar Eclipse to bring something new and remarkable into your life.
Notice who or what comes into your life on or around this eclipse. If you have planets or angles that are close to the eclipse degree, 29° Virgo, more likely than not change is on the way. Or at the very least, an opportunity to reorient your compass as you move forward.
What Does It Mean For You

Any thoughts about what it might mean to be born on this eclipse series or is it meaningless given the dates have moved on?
I was born in Aug 71 and it repeated in 1989 then 2007. This edition occurs at the end of my 5th house conjunct my Pluto.
You’re having your nodal return which is always important. And this eclipse cycle runs from Sept 2024 to Feb 2027. Christina & I did our last podcast – see Podcast page – on the Moon’s nodes which you might find helpful. Also this post: https://sallykirkman.com/a-new-eclipse-cycle-begins-pisces-virgo-chaos-order/ Hope that helps 🙂
Thanks Sally – I will listen to that one again later – always enjoy your podcasts.
My nodal return in Aquarius isn’t until June 2027, this is the specific Saros eclipse I was born under which is why I’m wondering whether it has an effect.
Worth noting what happens for sure 🙂
