NEW MOON [9 Pisces 41]
February 28 2025 (00:45 GMT)
Moondark
We are currently in the dark phase of the moon, the few days before the New Moon begins a new lunar cycle. Traditionally, this period before the New Moon is a time to rest and retreat, to turn inward and stop before you start something new.
This is an important phase in the month which is often missed. If you’re someone who’s used to being busy or you’re juggling countless roles in life, time for contemplation and reflection may be hard to come by. Try not to miss this out, even if the time you’re able to stop is brief.
Moondark is one of the names for this quiet time, the period before a new cycle begins. This is when you can pause and look at what you need in order to replenish your energy and let go of tension, emotion or stuff that weighs you down. Complete the cycle fully and you step into the future feeling lighter and unburdened.
New Moon Pisces
This month’s New Moon takes place on Friday 28th or Thursday 27th depending where you live in the world. It falls in romantic, creative, imaginative Pisces and Pisces’ nature is boundless, like the sea. Pisces’ modern ruler is Neptune, God of the sea and Pisces is an emotional, sensitive water sign.
This week’s New Moon is leading us into an extraordinary time as Neptune will leave Pisces on March 30th where it’s been since 2011. This is the start of a new era as Neptune moves back and forth out of the last degree of the zodiac 29° Pisces and the first degree of the zodiac 0° Aries.
You may have a sense what’s coming this week as the Sun & Moon are joined by Saturn, Mercury, the North Node and Neptune in Pisces during the New Moon phase. It’s a flood of planetary activity in Pisces.
Neptune isn’t the only planet going back and forth between the end and beginning of the zodiac. The planet of authority Saturn is alongside Neptune.
Plus, ideas planet Mercury and the planet of relating Venus are leading the way. Both planets are already on their journey through Pisces & Aries and this will play out throughout March & April.
It may be worth contemplating what you’re willing to leave behind and where you’re ready to start over. This is a time in history when we’re being called to unite and actively choose values which include compassion, tolerance and understanding.
When planets gather in Pisces, you can lose yourself. Push back the boundaries of life, explore what’s possible and what lies beyond the everyday. Be open to where life is calling you and follow the signs. Pisces season can be a time of healing, cleansing and releasing emotions.
In honour of the New Moon, lose yourself in Pisces’ realm, dive deep into inspiration, beauty, art, music, the creative or spiritual source. Start something new at the weekend which brings more beauty and kindness into your world and the lives of others. Find your moment of calm.
