LUNAR ECLIPSE [15 Pisces 23]
September 7, 2025 (19:09 GMT+1)
September is eclipse month and, this weekend, there will be a spectacular total eclipse of the Moon on September 7. The eclipse will be visible in many parts of the world.
Here in the UK, try and catch Moonrise on September 7 as it’s likely to be special. Check out what time the eclipse is in the world wherever you live or you could choose to watch a livestream. Here’s the link to one site that can tell you more: timeanddate.
Eclipse Season
A Lunar Eclipse falls during the Full Moon phase when the light of the Moon is eclipsed due to its relationship with the Sun and Earth.
During a Lunar Eclipse, the Sun and Moon are at opposite sides of the zodiac. A shadow is thrown during an eclipse. Once the shadow lifts, it brings what’s hidden to light or sheds a new perspective on a current situation.
Traditionally, you’re wise to wait a few days after an eclipse before taking action as new information may come to light. Eclipses can be dramatic and are often associated with the unexpected events in life, the things you didn’t see coming.
Things already seem unusually changeable and many people are dealing with instability. The New Moon on August 23 lead the way into this weekend’s eclipse and was exactly square unpredictable Uranus, the planet of change, unexpected twists and turns. You may already have been experiencing weird technology glitches or plans that have gone awol.
The weekend looks unusually crazy as Uranus turns retrograde in Gemini on September 6 followed by the Lunar Eclipse on September 7. As readers of my weekly horoscope (Inner Star Circle) will know, this combination adds drama and heightened emotions to the mix. Whatever you’re doing this weekend, take extra care and be flexible.
Eclipse Lore
In ancient times eclipses were viewed as a bad omen, although in modern times they are not so feared. Eclipses are power points of energy when your spiritual awareness is heightened.
To understand eclipses, the language and symbolism of the eclipse can act as a guide. When the lights, the Sun and Moon, are eclipsed, you are in the dark and events are hidden and shadowy. Secrets emerge and what’s unknown comes to light. Who or what is being ‘eclipsed’ is a good question to ask.
As an eclipse involves three bodies, the Sun, the Moon and the Earth, this may represent a ‘triangle’ situation in your life where one person loses out allowing another person to take advantage. At an eclipse, one door may have to shut before a new door can be opened.
Eclipses symbolise a time when the pendulum of fate can swing dramatically and that may feel both exhilarating and scary. Sometimes, change happens close to the eclipse date. At other times, the influence of an eclipse can last until the next set of eclipses, six months later.
An eclipse has most impact when it falls within 2-3º of a planet or angle in your birth chart. This weekend’s eclipse falls at 15° Pisces. Very often, an event close to the eclipse date sets the wheels of change in motion and the eclipse energy plays out over the next few weeks or months.
Eclipses take place in cycles that last for 18-24 months. What can happen is you get a run of eclipses triggering key points in your birth chart and your life shifts significantly within that period. This eclipse cycle began in September 2024 and continues until February 2027.
When you look back on the past, you invariably see that major turning points in your life, moments of destiny, coincide with important eclipse cycles.
Virgo/Pisces Axis
This eclipse cycle cuts across the Virgo/Pisces axis of the zodiac. If you have planets and angles in these star signs, this eclipse cycle will be most powerful for you.
This is the axis of order versus chaos. Virgo’s ruled by Mercury, the planet of communication which loves detail, facts and figures. Pisces is ruled by two planets, the biggest planet Jupiter and the boundless planet Neptune. This is the realm of dreams and fantasy, encouraging you to get in flow with life, to be creative, imaginative and dive into the spiritual realm.
The Virgo-Pisces axis highlights themes of service, sacrifice and surrender. The star signs Virgo and Pisces tap you into the rituals of daily life through good health and prayer. Virgo is the god of small things while Pisces takes you out into the universe – the microcosm and the macrocosm.
These are not material star signs. Instead, the Virgo-Pisces axis encourages you to be grateful for what you have and to understand that less can be more. Food and harvest are Virgo themes, one of the earth signs, and Pisces rules the sea and liquids, one of the water signs.
The focus is on what we share with each other, how the earth feeds and nourishes us and the life-giving nature of water. It’s about creating a sustainable environment for everyone and caring for the vulnerable and weak in our society. All these issues are currently under sharper focus during this eclipse cycle.
Other Factors
When eclipses take place, you’re on a roller-coaster ride and this includes highs as well as low. You may find that an unexpected opportunity comes your way caterpulting you in a new direction.
Don’t fall into the negative mindset of thinking that eclipses are only bad news. Keep your own energy levels high and trust in the universe. Be around people who uplift you and watch out for people who need extra help and support.
Plus, the two nearest planetary aspects to this eclipse are both helpful. Lucky Jupiter is the ruler of this Pisces eclipse and it makes a positive planetary aspect to the eclipse at 19° Cancer. Plus, talk planet Mercury is conjunct the Sun during eclipse at 10° Virgo.
The Sun perfects its magical cazimi conjunction to Mercury on September 13 and lucky Jupiter aligns with the Sun on September 12. Jupiter in Cancer is a protective influence, kind and compassionate. Yes, this adds to the emotional feel of the current astrology but there’s an opportunity for things to work out well too.
The next eclipse is a Solar Eclipse at 29° Virgo on September 21. It’s the only Solar Eclipse in the current eclipse cycle and is powerful at it falls right at the end of Virgo. I’ll write more about this nearer the time.
Hold tight on the roller coaster of life this week and make sure you’re strapped in. Eclipse season is here.
