As the year begins, your ruling planet Venus is in Capricorn and your home and family sector. Capricorn is the star sign at the base of your horoscope. It’s about your roots, your legacy and where you come from.
Venus isn’t the only planet in Capricorn as 2026 begins. Talk planet Mercury is here from the 1st to the 20th and the Sun is in Capricorn until the same date. Plus, action planet Mars is in Capricorn until the 23rd. Therefore, you may be involved in negotiations or conversations around home and family, whether you’re hoping to heal a rift or nail a property deal.
There’s support too, as Venus and Mars are working together in Capricorn. In fact, there’s a triple conjunction here involving the Sun as well from the 6th to the 9th.
In mythology, Venus and Mars were lovers and together there’s a theme of partnership or collaboration. You may find the right person to help you, whatever your personal need. You might be moving in with someone for the first time. Or perhaps, you’re trying out a new living situation.
Whatever’s foreground in your life, aim for unity. This suits you best being a Libra as you often find conflict situations harder than most people. Reach out to others and aim to get the right people on your side.
Also this month, the Full Moon and New Moon both highlight this same sector of your horoscope. During the Full Moon on the 3rd, the Sun is in Capricorn and the Moon is in Cancer. This highlights the foundations of your life and you may have a big decision to make regarding your next steps.
Cancer rules your career and future path and this is where you find expansive Jupiter, the planet of opportunity and growth. It may be that you’re spending a lot of time with family as you’re preparing to set off on a new career journey or adventure.
The New Moon on the 18th is especially dynamic as talk planet Mercury and action planet Mars sit next to the Sun and Moon in Capricorn. This is great for walking your talk and doing what you say.
However, it’s potentially argumentative and feisty and you may have to act fast to sort things out at home or within your family. One way or another, it’s in these areas where there’s plenty going on at the start of 2026.
Aquarius Themes
As the inner planets are close together this month, they all move into your fellow air sign Aquarius around the same time. Your ruling planet Venus is first on the 17th, followed by talk planet Mercury and the Sun on the 20th and passion planet Mars on the 23rd.
When planets are in Aquarius, this is an ideal time to embrace all that’s joyful in your life. Aquarius rules all the good things like romance, children and pregnancy, creativity, entertainment, self-expression, pleasure and fun. When planets are in Aquarius, this is urging you to do more of what you love and prioritise play over work.
However, there is another planetary influence in Aquarius, the planet of loss and transformation, Pluto. Pluto’s the slowest-moving planet and it teams up with all the inner planets as they move into Aquarius. The key dates are the 20th – Venus, 22nd – Mercury, 23rd – the Sun and 27th – Mars.
This adds power and intensity to these key areas of your life. Sometimes, there’s a theme of an ending and having to close a door and move on. However, Pluto can go either way and it may mean you’re the one experiencing strong emotions around your personal life.
Be wary of romance during this period as Pluto’s themes can be power and control. Yet, it might be the right time to make a final decision about love or a personal situation. Pluto’s a definitive influence urging you to make a decision.
Perhaps, January is the month you become obsessed about a hobby, romance or pregnancy and, whatever you commit to this month, you’re likely to go all in. One way or another, emotions will run deep.
Saturn-Uranus
There’s another strong planetary influence this month as one of the major planetary aspects of 2025 completes on the 20th. This involves the planet of authority and responsibility Saturn in Pisces and your work and health sector teaming up with the planet of change and innovation Uranus in Taurus and your joint finance sector.
These two planets were working together last year on April 4 & August 12, 2025. Therefore, events now may be linked to what was happening back then.
Perhaps, you’re changing around your work and this is impacting you financially. Or you need to do things differently on an everyday basis to benefit your health.
Taurus rules joint finances and shared resources in your horoscope and is linked to the metaphysical realm, hidden and taboo issues. Money could come your way unexpectedly or perhaps you receive an inheritance or tax rebate which helps you firm up a work decision.
This could be a time when you’re able to break free from a job or role that holds you back. Or a new work opportunity arises which will pay lucratively.
Neptune Enters Aries
On the 26th, one of the slower-moving planets Neptune enters Aries, your opposite star sign. Neptune’s the planet of dreams and romance and Aries is your relationship sector.
Neptune’s already been in Aries as it was here from March 30 to October 22, 2025. Therefore, it’s wise to consider what seeds were being sown back then or who came into your life.
Neptune will remain in Aries until 2038/2039 and it’s a compassionate influence. You may feel more romantic with Neptune in Aries and, if you’re a typical Sun Libra, you have a romantic streak to your personality.
However, do be wary of being fooled when it comes to love and don’t wear rose-coloured glasses. That doesn’t mean not to lean into your dreams but be practical and realistic around your close relationships, both personal and professional.
