There’s a dominant theme this month because of the planets in earth sign Capricorn. It’s unusual to have so many of the inner planets moving through one sector of your horoscope as the year begins but this is what’s happening in 2026. Capricorn rules your work and routine, your lifestyle and your health. Plus, it’s the areas in your life where you’re of service to other people.
Talk planet Mercury is here from the 1st to the 20th and your ruler the Sun’s in Capricorn until the same date. Plus, action planet Mars is in Capricorn until the 23rd and this can be a busy period, sometimes stressful. Be wary of taking too much on. At the same time, do what you can to stay focused and get things done. Aim to find a healthy work/life balance.
This month’s Full Moon and New Moon both highlight this key area of your horoscope. The Full Moon takes place on the 3rd with the Sun in Capricorn and the Moon in Cancer and the most hidden sector of your chart. It’s a good Full Moon to rest well and ensure your time management skills are ready to go as soon as work kicks in.
The New Moon on the 18th is more dynamic as the Sun and Moon sit next to talk planet Mercury and action planet Mars. This is ideal for walking your talk and doing what you say. A New Moon symbolises new beginnings and is an ideal time to apply for a job or start a new health routine.
Plus, the Sun and Mars have support from the planet of relating Venus. Venus rules love and money and is in your work and health sector until the 17th. More importantly, there’s a triple conjunction of the Sun, Venus and Mars from the 6th to the 9th.
This suggests having a good team of people around you. Notice who’s got your back and who you want to spend more time with. You could be employing someone new this month or decide to adopt a pet. Think love and connection and favour supportive alliances.
If you’re looking for love, you could find love in the office or in the gym this month.
Aquarius Themes
There’s another major theme which kicks in from mid-month onwards and it’s a reminder that people matter to you, a great deal. This is due to the emphasis on the star sign Aquarius and your relationship sector. This is about your intimate one-to-ones, your business partnerships and joint ventures. In fact, all significant others in your life.
The emphasis is hotting up here in the second half of January as the planet of relating Venus leads the way moving into Aquarius on the 17th. She’s closely followed by talk planet Mercury and your ruler the Sun on the 20th. Finally, passion planet Mars on the 23rd.
This is your cosmic cue to look out for people who can help or support you. Be expansive in your dealings with others, think big and be around people who open up your life in a good way.
If you’re in a relationship or married, it could be events in your partner’s life that are the reason why you need to stop and put them first for a while.
It may not be an easy time for all your close relationships, however, and this has a lot to do with power planet Pluto in Aquarius. Pluto is the planet of endings, loss and transformation, also power and control.
Pluto meets up with all the inner planets as they move into your relationship sector. The key dates are 20th – Venus, 22nd – Mercury, 23rd – the Sun and 27th – Mars.
You may sense that love is strong in your life during this period and this could be because you feel close to people you’ve lost or who’ve passed on. Or because you’re making an effort to work hard at a long-term relationship or with the people you encounter on a daily basis.
However, a relationship could end under these stars, especially if you’re caught up in a power dynamic that’s not good for you or you’re in a situation where you’re being overly dominated. This may relate to a personal or professional partnership. Perhaps, it’s time to take back the power and control in a significant one-to-one in your life. And, if that’s not possible, close a door and move on.
Saturn-Uranus
There’s another strong planetary influence this month as one of the major planetary aspects of 2025 completes on the 20th. This involves the planet of authority and responsibility Saturn in Pisces and your joint finance sector and the planet of change and innovation Uranus in Taurus and your career and vocation sector.
These two planets came together last year on April 4 & August 12, 2025. Therefore, events playing out now may be linked to what was happening back then.
Perhaps, you’re freed from a debt or you’re changing careers. Uranus is the planet of freedom and suits a freelance or easy-going lifestyle. It’s the planet of technology and all things new. Therefore, you might move a business online or use the internet to boost your profile or reach a wider audience.
Note that when Uranus is active, external circumstances often bring about change, ready or not. It may be a challenge this month to stay put in the same job and change nothing.
Neptune Enters Aries
On the 26th, one of the slower-moving planets Neptune changes star sign. Neptune leaves Pisces and your joint finance sector and moves into Aries and your travel and study sector. This may be a helpful shift for you because Aries is a fellow fire sign and encourages expansion, opportunity and growth in your life.
Neptune’s already been in Aries from March 30 to October 22, 2025, so consider what seeds were being sown back then. Perhaps, there’s a sea-changes in your finances that frees you up to make some positive choices. Alternatively, you’re letting go of the past so you can start over.
Neptune’s the planet of dreams and the imagination, a compassionate and inclusive influence. You may have dreams to see the world or save the world while Neptune’s in Aries where it will remain until 2038/2039.
