Home and family remain important throughout July because of the emphasis on the star sign Cancer. The Sun’s here until the 22nd and big planet Jupiter moved into Cancer last month.
Jupiter’s an expansive influence whether you’re expanding your family or moving home. This would be an ideal month to get together with loved ones and make some key decisions around your home, your living situation or family.
The Full Moon on the 10th cuts across the Cancer/Capricorn axis of the zodiac highlighting the foundations of your life. This Full Moon comes with a sense of duty or responsibility, whether you’re digging deep to support the ones you love. Or you’re acutely aware of the direct link between your past and your future.
While the Sun’s in Cancer, you might want to retreat and slow down the pace of life and it could be a sentimental time. Care and counsel may be needed. You might turn to loved ones for advice or support, especially around money. Alternatively, you need to step in to take care of the ones you love.
Romance & Fun
The Sun’s move into Leo on the 22nd feels like a blessing for you. This lights up the sector of your horoscope which rules play, creative projects, children, romance and entertainment. The light returns when the Sun moves into Leo and hope and faith are never far away.
You could champion love once the Sun is in Leo and unleash your passionate nature. This is leading up the New Moon in Leo on the 24th, a lovely date for asking someone out, spending quality time with your kids or putting play and entertainment high up your list of priorities.
What do you want to ‘give birth to’, how you can use this creative energy in your own life? Fire sign energy is strong for you – motivated, spontaneous and fun.
Talk planet Mercury is in Leo throughout July, although the planet of communication turns retrograde on the 18th and will be on go slow until August 11th. This may not be a bad thing, however, as this favours holidays, retreat and slowing down.
You may actively choose to take a step back from work this month, at least some of the time. Your planet Mars is in industrious mode so it’s not all play and no work.
Virgo Vibes
This may be a retrograde month but, in true Aries style, you might have a lot to do. This is because your ruling planet Mars is in earth sign Virgo throughout July.
Virgo rules your work and routine, your lifestyle and your health. Therefore, it’s a month to be sensible if you’re busy with work or you have a big writing or volunteering project on your hands. Look after your health and learn how to be disciplined so your routine works for you.
Retrograde phases can be helpful for switching off and focusing on a creative task. Clear your diary so you can get things done.
Mercury isn’t the only planet turning retrograde as the planet of dreams Neptune and the planet of authority Saturn both switch direction in your star sign Aries on the 4th & 13th respectively.
Therefore, you may take your foot off the accelerator when it comes to a personal goal. Perhaps, the timing isn’t right and you know that you’ll have a better chance of getting ahead early next year.
Don’t force it if things don’t real right. This is a major period of endings and beginnings and you may still be required to experiment and explore before you can charge ahead.
Uranus Enters Gemini
Also this month, big planet Uranus makes an epic shift as it changes star sign on the 7th. Uranus remains seven years in one star sign and, since 2018, Uranus has been in Taurus and your personal money sector. This is often an unpredictable transit, like being on a roller coaster ride.
Usually it means that your finances are up and down rather than steady and stable. There can be big wins, but potentially losses too. Uranus isn’t leaving Taurus quietly as it aligns with Venus in Taurus on the 4th.
There are no guarantees with Uranus but this could be a date when you choose to take a financial risk, perhaps something you’ve been putting off for a long time. It may feel as if this is your last chance for a particular project or decision.
You may recognise that your values have changed profoundly over the last seven years and what was once important to you no longer matters. Uranus will be back in Taurus for a short period from November 2025 to April 2026 but then it will be gone.
Therefore, what takes place in the first week of July is likely to be significant and eventful regarding money. You may decide to shift your attitude or your way of doing things. Perhaps, you move away from freelance work to do something more steady and secure. Or you realise that the way you’ve earned money in the past is no longer working and it’s time to try something else.
Uranus moves into Gemini on the 7th, your ideas and communication sector. Therefore, pay attention to your thoughts and conversations during this period.
Gemini represents the written and spoken word and rules your neighbourhood, your local community and life close to home. Gemini rules siblings and neighbours too.
You may want to play a more active role within society or go rogue and start a new community or neighbourhood initiative. Uranus in Gemini is encouraging you to find your voice and use technology to good effect. It feels less materialistic and more socially and politically aware.
Mercury Retrograde Do’s & Don’ts
Remember the Mercury retrograde mantra – put off the big decisions & major investments when the communication planet is on go slow from July 18th to August 11th. Here are some top tips:
- be flexible, have plans B, C & D up your sleeve
- take a step back, do less not more
- double-check everything, read the small print
- chase up old contacts, revisit the past
- use all the re-words – revise, rework, review, reconsider
- rest & retreat, take a break, go on holiday
- do your research ready to act when Mercury turns direct
