Venus enters Scorpio

The planet of love and relating, Venus, dives deep into Scorpio’s emotional waters this week. This isn’t unusual, as Venus returns to each sign of the zodiac approximately once every year.
This year, however, Venus is diving in even deeper, as she will turn retrograde in Scorpio on October 3. Even though Venus returns to Libra while retrograde, she only finally leaves Scorpio on January 7, 2027. It’s going to be a deep dive for the next few months.
Venus in Scorpio is said to be in her sign of detriment. This is because Venus is associated with all things gentle and lovely. She’s kindness and grace personified, she loves partnership and sharing, beauty and harmony. When Venus enters Scorpio, she’s venturing into the underworld, the dark places, what lies beneath.
Venus in Scorpio – Passion & Power
Venus in Scorpio has a reputation for being a temptress, the femme fatale of the zodiac, sexy, sultry and desirous of all things taboo. This includes all emotions, the good as well as the bad. She can be a jealous Venus, who wants what she can’t have, who becomes obsessed with love or sex and is drawn towards temptation.
This is one side of Venus in Scorpio’s seductive ways. However, Venus rules art as well as love and Venus in Scorpio finds the beauty in decay and death and all that fades away. Scorpio’s season falls in the depths of autumn, when the leaves drop from the trees and the darkness and shadows dominate more than the light.
Remember too that Scorpio rules power and transformation. Therefore, this can be a wonderful transit for women, enabling you to channel your female energy into extraordinary feats that lead to transcendence. Scorpio’s task is to decide how to use its power, not to descend into evil, but to use its force for good effect in the world.

- Venus retreats back into Libra – October 25, 2026
- Venus turns direct [22 Libra 52] – November 11, 2026
- Venus re-enters Scorpio – December 4, 2026
- Venus leaves Scorpio – January 7, 2027
As you can see from the sequence, Venus returns to her sign of rulership, Libra, for all of November before she returns to Scorpio early December.
Venus’ retrograde phase will be particularly significant wherever 22° Libra – 8° Scorpio fall in your horoscope. I’ll be talking more about the Venus’ retrograde phase, the do’s and don’ts early October.
Venus’ 8 Year Cycle
What’s always interesting to note is whether the Venus’ retrograde in Scorpio has been important for you previously. Venus is known as the harmoniser and she creates a beautiful pattern in the heavens.
There’s symmetry involved too, as Venus returns to almost the same point in the zodiac every 8 years. Therefore, at a similar time of year, in 2018, 2010, 2002, 1994, 1986, 1978 and so on, you were experiencing the same Venus retrograde cycle.
As someone born with Venus in Scorpio, the last Venus retrograde in Scorpio was hugely significant in my own life. And, I can already see ways that this is going to be significant over the next few months.
Double Whammy Retrograde
What makes this Venus retrograde phase unique is that communication planet Mercury will be retrograde in Scorpio at the same time. Mercury turns retrograde at 20° Scorpio on October 24 and turns direct at 5° Scorpio on November 13, the day before Venus turns direct.
As both Venus and Mercury are linked to money and trading and Scorpio is one of the money star signs, you could expect this to be a pivotal period for finances too. If possible, get money matters sorted sooner rather than later.
Clashes & Support
There’s so much more to say about Venus’ journey into the underworld. She is square to Scorpio’s co-ruler Pluto in Aquarius emphasising the themes of obsession and deep, dark emotions. Key dates – September 15, October 20, December 9.
Plus, Venus is square to her lover Mars in Leo on October 10. Although, Venus will then go on to sextile Mars on November 10 & December 12 – more supportive than the ‘battle of the sexes’ clash.
And, while in Libra, Venus has help from her best friend Jupiter in Leo. Key dates – August 17, November 4 & November 28.
