Full Moon [11 Scorpio 20]
May 1, 2026 (18:23 GMT+1)
This week’s Full Moon is the first of two Full Moons in the month of May. They are both Micro Moons rather than Super Moons, i.e. they will smaller than usual in the night sky.
This doesn’t make them any less important on an astrological level. The two Full Moons book-end the month with the Scorpio Full Moon on May 1 and the Sagittarius Full Moon on May 31.
The Moon reaches its peak during the Full Moon phase. This is a time when emotions are heightened and important matters are brought to completion. If you like to work with the energy of the moon, this is the time to look at what you want or need to release and let go of.
Full Moons are a time of celebration and this Full Moon especially so as it coincides with the pagan festival Beltane, marking the beginning of summer in the northern hemisphere.
It’s a colourful time of year and there will be many festivals and celebrations as we enter the merry month of May. It’s a time to revel in nature’s beauty. Trust your female intuition during the Full Moon and tap into your witchy knowingness.
Full Moon Scorpio
This is even more important this time around because the Full Moon takes place in the deep and dark water sign Scorpio linked to healing, regeneration and transformation.
Scorpio rules sex, money, death and rebirth and all things taboo. It’s about the psyche and what’s hidden. Scorpio’s keyword is power, whether you use it for good or bad effect. We’re hanging out in the underworld, the night world when we’re in Scorpio’s domain.
In Scorpio, you can enter into the dark untouched places releasing emotions that have been hidden away or ignored. You encounter the shadow side of life. By digging deep, you find the part of yourself that’s fearless, authentic and real.
This is not always a comfortable place to be. Yet, if you are a Scorpio or have Scorpio planets in your chart, you may already know that a journey through the underworld can unearth hidden riches.
When you explore and embrace all of life, the dark as well as the light, you often emerge wiser and stronger for the experience.
Life, Death & Rebirth
During this week’s Full Moon, the Sun is in Taurus and the Moon is in water sign Scorpio. The cycle of life, death and rebirth is clearly shown through the opposite star signs Taurus and Scorpio.
The earth sign Taurus is linked to nature and growth, a time of abundance, while the water sign Scorpio is linked to death and rebirth as nature dies down. Regeneration, compost, the eternal cycle of life and death which is never-ending.
The Full Moon in Scorpio can highlight where you need to be healed and where best to channel your own healing abilities. You might uncover issues around power or where you feel powerless. You may discover where you’re in control and where you can tap into your inner power to accomplish incredible feats.
This Full Moon may provide the opportunity to make an important decision. At the Scorpio Full Moon, it’s about doing what feels right rather than what you think is right. Although, ideally, it’s wise to balance your head and your heart if you’re facing a turning point. Be confident and use the Full Moon in Scorpio to be empowered.
Other Planetary Aspects
The closest major aspect to the Full Moon is a square to Pluto, co-ruler of Scorpio. The Sun-Pluto square aspect took place on April 25 and Pluto is slowing down getting ready to turn retrograde on May 6. This adds intensity and emphasises the themes of release and letting go, detoxing, decluttering, de-stressing.
Pluto’s shift to retrograde motion turns your attention inwards and backwards. A cosmic nudge to let go of things that aren’t working out and move away from anything or anyone toxic in your life. Ditch old emotions and habits that no longer serve you. The Scorpio Full Moon is daring you to dig deep.
The other major aspect during the Full Moon phase is a positive aspect to Jupiter in Cancer, the planet of protection, good fortune and growth. The Sun-Jupiter sextile aspect will fall on May 11.
The realm of the underworld contains hidden riches and both Pluto and Jupiter are planets associated with wealth. Plus, there’s a theme of leaving the past behind (Pluto) so you’re free to move into the future (Jupiter).
Finally, the Moon in Scorpio is creating a Yod pattern with Venus in Gemini and Saturn in Aries. The Venus-Saturn sextile aspect completes one hour after the Full Moon.
Therefore, this Full Moon may be a helpful time to delve into relationships. What’s hidden may come to light. Scorpio’s a loyal star sign and Saturn favours commitment. Know who’s got your back and prioritise intimacy and connection.
From the Dark to the Light
This Full Moon is an ideal time to do the inner work ready for the Full Moon Blue Moon in Sagittarius on May 31.
Learn more about yourself, your inner motivations but don’t stay too long in the dark or difficult places. This is Pluto’s Full Moon, co-ruler of Scorpio, while in four weeks time, it will be Jupiter’s Full Moon, ruler of Sagittarius.
The two Full Moons are encouraging you to change what’s needed on an inner level so you can be authentic and true to who you are. And, in so doing, find your place within the world and actively engage with it. From inner to outer, from darkness to light.
