Your horoscopes for December are here.
Neptune Turns Direct
December 10
Neptune turns direct on December 10 at 29° Pisces. Like Saturn, Neptune is completing its journey through the last star sign Pisces and both planets will move into the first star sign Aries in the first two months of next year, 2026.
This is important as there’s a theme of completion currently underway. Where are things falling away or dissolving? Where are you being asked to surrender and put your trust and faith in the universe?
If you have planets close to 29° Pisces, you may be awash with creative ideas or tears this month. Or perhaps, you’re communing with the spirits or you’re drawn to the sea.
Neptune’s influence is creative and artistic, mystical and spiritual. The true meaning of this time of year is often lost amidst the parties, presents, social whirl and commerciality.
Yet, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to spend some time this month in prayer or solitude. All the inner planets, Mars, the Sun, Venus and Mercury are square to Saturn & Neptune in Pisces as they move through fire sign Sagittarius.
The key dates are the 9th, 17th, 21st & 30th (squares to Saturn), the 14th, 21st, 24th – also 1st Jan (squares to Neptune). This is slowing things down and encouraging inner contemplation.
Sagittarius is keen for you to fire some arrows high into the sky to see where they might land in the future. These themes are especially strong during the Full Moon & New Moon – see below.
Don’t charge into 2026 without first completing what’s needed in 2025. Astrology’s major theme right now is endings and beginnings and both are necessary.
Solstice – Sun enters Capricorn
December 21
The Sun leaves fire sign Sagittarius and enters earth sign Capricorn on December 21, the day of the Solstice. This heralds the change in season when the Sun ‘stands still’ in the sky, the literal meaning of sol-stice (Sun – stands still).
The Solstice is one of four markers of the zodiac, the Equinoxes and Solstices which herald a new season. The Solstice occurs when you reach the shortest day and longest night or longest day and shortest night, depending where you live. Here in the UK, the days are growing shorter and the nights longer.
One of my favourite quotes about the Solstice states, “something in us needs to know that at the end of the longest night there will be light”. This seems especially poignant at this time of year.
The Solstice heralds a new beginning. Make sure to honour the Solstice and light a fire or burn candles. This tradition is in honour of the heat and warmth of the Sun which brings us vitality, energy and life. The Sun and Moon have never failed to keep rising and setting daily, amidst all our upheavals on this planet.
Moon’s Phases
Full Moon Gemini
December 4
During the Full Moon, the light of the moon is at its peak. Traditionally, a Full Moon is the time to trust your intuition, make important decisions and bring matters to completion or culmination.
This is the start of the waning phase of the Moon cycle, an ideal time to release and let go of what’s no longer needed in your life.
This month’s Full Moon on December 4 cuts across the Gemini/Sagittarius axis of the zodiac, representing travel and education, religion and beliefs.
Plus, this Full Moon is ruled by communication planet Mercury and Mercury is still in Scorpio during the Full Moon, creating one more Grand Water Trine on December 6/7.
Therefore, this Full Moon could heighten emotions or coincide with an important turning point. You may find yourself at a crossroads and need to make a big decision about your next steps.
New Moon Sagittarius
December 20
A New Moon is a symbol of new beginnings. Traditionally, a New Moon is the time to launch a project, begin something new and start over.
This is the beginning of the waxing phase of the Moon cycle, an ideal time to set your intentions for the month ahead. Make a wish when you first catch sight of the crescent Moon, a couple of days after the New Moon date.
This month’s New Moon falls in fire sign Sagittarius on December 20, the star sign linked to travel, education, learning, beliefs, principles and truth. Sagittarius likes to be on a mission and have adventures.
This would be an ideal New Moon to fire some arrows high into the sky to see where they land in 2026. Set your intentions for next year.
