I’m writing this weekly newsletter looking out on a snowy garden. We have freezing temperatures in the UK and many areas are blanketed with the white stuff.
It’s lovely for glorious dog walks and picture-perfect photos but even lovelier to be curled up at home warm & cosy with a cup of hot chocolate in hand.
At the end of this week, there’s a Full Moon and I read recently that February’s Full Moon is traditionally the ‘snow moon’.
The native Americans had different names for the seasonal Full Moons and the Alongquin tribe called January’s Full Moon the ‘wolf moon’ or ‘sun that has not strength to thaw’. My favourite name, however, comes from the Sioux tribe who called the January Full Moon ‘moon of the strong cold’ or ‘frost in the teepee’.
This weekend’s Full Moon on Saturday night (27/01 4:38am GMT) falls in the sign of Leo, perfect for parties and shameless self-expression. It’s a creative Full Moon so do what you love, be courageous and whatever activity you’re involved in, do it to the best of your ability.
Both the Sun (vitality) and Mercury (the mind) are now in the gloriously eccentric and genius sign of Aquarius. This is the sign of friendship and groups but Aquarius is also the sign of the outsider, the person who believes s/he doesn’t fit in. Aquarians are future-oriented and often the first to start a new trend or stand out from the crowd. It’s the sign of the rebel, the non-conformist and rules technology, science and inventions. (If you’re an Aquarian and this doesn’t sound like you, don’t forget that Aquarius has two ruling planets, unconventional Uranus and orderly Saturn).
This week is definitely Uranus’ show and if ever there was a time to ring the changes and do things differently, it’s now as both the Sun and Mercury team up with a brilliant Jupiter-Uranus connection with Jupiter in Gemini and Uranus in Aries. These two planets met in July 2012 and they’re very close again now. The two together paint a positive picture that feels lucky and opportunities arise when you take a risk or try a new tack.
Saturn is the only nay-sayer this week as it squares Mercury on Friday but it feels easier to banish doubts or dispel negative vibes. The exuberance of Jupiter and Uranus together dominate the heavenly display and makes this a very excitable week when positivity counts for a lot.
Look out for the Moon/Jupiter conjunction in the night sky early in the week when these two heavenly bodies are close.

Wishing you love, good health & happiness in the week ahead and may you have no frost in your teepee!

Dear Sally,
I have always had a keen interest in astrology. However, since my birthdate is on cusp, I’m never sure if “I’m coming or going” so to speak. I have been reading both Virgo and Libra weekly forecast, but I’m still no wiser.
Love your website, keep up the good work.
Libra/Virgo ….. who knows.
hi Olga, thanks for your message and I do know it can feel confusing if your birthday’s on the cusp. If you send me an email with your time, date and place of birth, I can check for you. If you don’t know the time, any approximation, i.e. early morning, late afternoon will help. Thank you for your kind words about my website too, they’re much appreciated.
