Easter Sunday falls on the first Sunday after the first Full Moon following the spring equinox.
This year, 2013, there was a Full Moon on March 27th, only one week after the date of the spring equinox. This is why Easter Sunday falls earlier than usual this year on March 31st.
Easter is a celebration of the return of the light of spring after the dark of winter and the continual cycle of birth and new life. In the UK, it’s bitterly cold but I am starting to think about planting out seeds at least in the greenhouse so new life can begin to grow.
Aries energy
Spring cleaning is another popular activity at this time of year and it often feels cathartic to throw out what’s old and unused in life in order to make space for new energy and input. As the month of April and this new week begins, there are four key planets in the sign of Aries, the first sign of the zodiac. Aries represents new birth, initiating new activities and the spontaneous impulse.
Step out of your comfort zone
I read an article in yesterday’s papers about stepping out of your comfort zone and how important it is to expand your life, even in small steps. The article suggested drawing a circle and writing in it all the things you’re comfortable with and enjoy doing. You then write activities and ideas that will test you outside the circle and you draw a bigger circle enclosing them with even more challenging goals beyond and so on creating a new plan to keep you engaged and active in life. It’s an interesting idea and I agreed with the author, Philippa Perry, who said “I have found that if we don’t test our limits from time to time, the comfort zone can shrink”.
Sun sextile Jupiter
This fits the Aries energy and even though this week there’s relatively little planetary activity, what there is feels forward-thinking and goal-oriented. Today the Sun in Aries is in a sextile aspect with the planet of new opportunities, Jupiter, in Gemini. Jupiter brings good things your way but it asks you to participate in life and take risks and expand your world in order to make the most of what life has to offer. It feels a positive and lucky energy.
Mercury out of shadow
At the end of the week on Saturday 6th, Mercury (mind) is back at the place it was in the zodiac where it turned retrograde on 23rd February 2013 at 19 Pisces. This means that Mercury is finally out of its shadow phase bringing with it a theme of second or even third chances. Go back over old ground and reconnect with someone or revisit something you began early in February. You can find out what this means for you personally by reading your monthly stars for April which as of yesterday are live on the website.
Venus/Mars Aries
On Sunday 7th, Venus and Mars, the heavenly lovers, come together in Aries and the first sign of the zodiac. Mars (lust) is powerful in Aries whereas Venus (love) is weaker. Yet it’s the male and female energies combining so together the two are stronger than they are individually. It promises togetherness in relationships, it’s a wonderful day for initiating a date or new love and it suggests that, for all of us, balancing the opposite sides of our nature is the way forward and collaboration and connection with others is the road to happiness. Make love, not war.
