This week is all about Capricorn, the sign of responsibility, structure, boundaries and achieving goals. Capricorns are often thought of as the workaholics of the zodiac and when planets are in this sign, it’s a good idea to have a plan about what you want to do. This helps you stay focused, organise your time effectively and gives you a gauge whereby to measure your results.
This is the sign of doing things slowly and gradually and not giving up. There are many Capricorns who demonstrate this ability to mature well and improve with age. David Bowie is a perfect example of the Sun in Capricorn. He recently released a new single, age 66, and has been a major influence in pop music for many years.
Capricorns appreciate time on their own and it’s a contemplative sign as well as the sign of high achievement. There may be a lesson in here for all of us that our best ideas often come in the moments of stillness, when we’re being rather than doing.
Last week’s New Moon in Capricorn on Friday 11th was the beginning of a new chapter in the lunar cycle and this remains a positive period to sow seeds and be proactive. Here’s a quick guide showing you where the New Moon falls in your solar chart depending on your star sign:
Aries: 10th house. Career, vocation, status & reputation
Taurus: 9th house. Travel, study, philosophy, spirituality
Gemini: 8th house. Joint finances, intimacy, taboo, rebirth
Cancer: 7th house. Relationships, contracts, opposition
Leo: 6th house. Work, health, everyday routine
Virgo: 5th house. Enjoyment, creativity, luck, children
Libra: 4th house. Home, family, the past
Scorpio: 3rd house. Local community, siblings, neighbours, communication
Sagittarius: 2nd house. Money, values, possessions
Capricorn: 1st house. Image, profile, personal goals
Aquarius: 12th house. Retreat, contemplation, inner voice
Pisces: 11th house. Friends, groups, society, the environment
This week the Sun (vitality) and Mercury (the mind) meet in Capricorn on Friday 18th, a great day to initiate an important conversation. If you’re giving a talk or presentation, this combination ensures you’re an animated speaker and if you’re writing, your words have heart.
Venus (love) is in Capricorn too and on Thursday 17th Venus conjuncts Pluto in Capricorn and sextiles Saturn in Scorpio. This is a ‘now or never’ combination. You either commit to a project or relationship and work hard to achieve your aims or you make a decision to close the door and move on. It’s a big moment for some.
The coming weekend feels very different as both the Sun and Mercury join Mars (action) in the sign of Aquarius. It feels like a breath of fresh air sweeping in and it’s an excellent weekend to network and be sociable.
