Virgo (23 August – 22 September)
Your ruling planet Mercury begins December in the fire sign Sagittarius which rules your home, family, your past and where you come from. This area of your chart is especially lively in the first half of the month whether you’re catching up with family, you’re excited about decorating your home or you love the buzz of Christmas.
You may find a real pull to visit your childhood home now or reconnect with someone you knew as a child. There may be a happy occasion to celebrate that’s the reason for a get-together or you find yourself feeling more sentimental about the past. Traditions like Christmas stimulate your memories of all the Christmases you’ve celebrated and the family you’ve loved and lost.
Jupiter, the planet of abundance, is currently in Leo and your previous sign and this is about adopting a more spiritual approach and focusing on your inner life rather than the world outside. You may want to go back to the past to repay a favour and show your gratitude and appreciation for someone who meant a great deal to you or you may hear from someone who offers a gift or kindness to you. Take note of what happens on or around the 4th, 12th and 14th when Jupiter’s energy is most powerful.
There’s another reason why home and family matters take priority now and this is because Saturn enters this same sector of your chart on December 23rd where it remains for the next couple of years. Saturn is the planet of commitment and longevity and it suggests that home and family will bring up issues surrounding duty and responsibility. You may be putting family first for a particular reason or need to care for someone close to you. Traditionally it’s not a time to move home when Saturn is in this sector of your chart but instead focus on putting down roots where you are.
Mid-month Mercury is on the move and enters your fellow earth sign of Capricorn. This is the sign of the moment as Christmas draws closer and by the Winter Solstice on the 21st, Venus (love) and the Sun (self) are also in Capricorn. In fact, the New Moon on the 22nd has five planets side-by-side in this sector of your chart.
Capricorn rules the good things in life, whether children, a lover, entertainment or a creative project. It’s about having fun and making the most of life; enjoying what you do and seeking out pleasurable activities. If you’re looking for love, this is a wonderful opportunity to meet someone new and to enjoy some romance.
Neptune is the planet of romance and it’s currently in your opposite sign of Pisces ruling your one-to-one relationships. On the 20th and 27th Neptune teams up with first Mercury and then the Sun in Capricorn. These are positive aspects and making time for the one you love pays off. For some, this Christmas may even signal a proposal or a declaration of love.
The choppiest time of the month is on or around the 15th when there’s a Uranus-Pluto square in the heavens. This is nothing new as these two mighty Titans have clashed not once but five times already since June 2012. This current clash is their sixth meeting and there will be one final conflict mid-March 2015.
Pluto is in Capricorn and Uranus is in Aries, one of the money sectors of your chart but also past ties and those things that are hidden or secret. By now you should understand what this square aspect means for you whether it’s an issue regarding children and their education, financial or otherwise; an ex or past lover who you’re still tied to either emotionally or financially or it’s a hobby or leisure activity that swallows up your cash.
Pluto can dredge up difficult emotions and Uranus wants to break free and move on. Yet the two continue to fight it out with both equally strong. The 20th and Christmas Day itself (25th) both see personal planets, Venus and Mercury, in conflict with the Uranus-Pluto square and it’s important not to let any recurring issue spoil the proceedings.
Especially on Christmas Day, it’s a good idea to avoid any particular subject that could start an argument. Park it to one side until you’re feeling calmer or more forgiving and there’s a kinder atmosphere. Boxing Day (26th) and the 27th are perfect for loving relations.
If money is an issue for you on the run up to Christmas, there’s help at hand either from family and pooling resources or thanks to a part-time job or money-earning opportunity. Mars, the action planet, enters your work sector on the 5th where it remains until mid-January and there’s a lovely aspect between Mars and Uranus on the 21st. Look out for a signpost that guides you and team up with others to make your money go further. For some, there may even be a cash bonus or good news about work as you move into a new year.
New Year’s Eve is perfect for a venue with a difference, going somewhere new that includes good food and good drink. Celebrate in style and raise a glass to the promise of a new year.
