Virgo (23 August – 22 September)
Your ruling planet, Mercury, is in retreat as December begins. It moves back into Scorpio and your communication sector on the 1st and turns direct on the 6th. This is the time to speak up and have that all-important conversation.
If there have been any misunderstandings or difficulties while Mercury was on go slow, dive straight in to sort things out. Mercury in Scorpio wants to get to the heart of the matter, unravel a puzzle and bring about resolution.
You may find you’re willing to go in deep and talk about any topic, however taboo. This is a key theme of the month ahead because there’s another planet in Scorpio, Venus. Venus returns here on the 2nd and remains in Scorpio all month.
You may remember that Venus was in Scorpio from September 9th until October 31st. Venus turned retrograde in Scorpio on October 5th, so things haven’t been clear or made sense for some time. When it comes to relationships, talk intimately and aim for closeness and connection.
Venus is in good shape this month and teams up with the slower-moving planets on the 16th, 21st and 28th. You might reconnect with a child or lover which could bring you and someone special in your life closer still.
Prioritise your relationships this month as it’s here where you can make progress. The other reason for this is passion planet Mars in Pisces and your opposite star sign throughout December. This is where there’s excitement and movement in your life. Mars rules the libido so it’s great for a healthy sex life but it’s also about engagement and working at relationships.
There is a flip side to Mars, however, because Mars rules anger. You might feel frustrated with the one you love or vice versa. At least, this brings an opportunity to clear the air and resolve any issues between you.
There is an added factor in the shape of romantic Neptune. Neptune has been in Pisces since 2012 and it’s not going away anytime soon. At its best, this is fairytale romance when you enjoy losing yourself in love and falling in love is blissful and enchanting.
Neptune’s in play in the first week of the month, when emotions are strong. This could pit your partner against your family or indicate some kind of rift that’s tricky to resolve. If anything, let things simmer away until after the 7th when Mars and Neptune come together in Pisces.
The middle of the month is less challenging and a better time to work at your close relationships. The other date to note is the 24th when your planet Mercury clashes with Neptune. This often indicates some form of soul-searching, when you’re wishing for an elusive dream.
If you’re not in a relationship at present, this could be a wistful time for you when you dearly would love to have someone special in your life. You do need to be careful with Neptune that you don’t confuse fantasy with the reality.
Neptune is a seductive influence and the flip side is that you lose touch with reality and expect life to be romantic and fairy-tale all the time. Of course, this is rarely the case so be wary of having overly-high expectations and don’t get swept away without first ensuring you’ve dropped anchor.
Home and family life figure strongly this month too, with the Sun in Sagittarius until the 21st and your ruler, Mercury, returning to Sagittarius on the 12th. Plus, there’s a New Moon here on the 7th, a symbol of new beginnings.
You might be busy visiting family or inviting friends and family round to yours. Don’t overdo things, otherwise it could become exhausting rather than enjoyable. Plus, there is the issue of the in-laws or a partner and your family not seeing eye-to-eye. This will be different for each of you but beware that this is where there could be a clash in your life leading up to the festivities.
There are a couple of stand-out dates for home and family affairs, the 20th and 21st. Firstly, the Sun in Sagittarius gains support from innovative Uranus in Aries and your joint finance sector on the 20th.
This is great for helping one another out and teaming up with family to make life easier for all of you. Money could come your way unexpectedly or perhaps you’re the one who wants to help a local family or your nearest and dearest.
On the 21st, it’s your planet Mercury in action when it teams up with lucky Jupiter in Sagittarius. This is a repeat of a planetary aspect which took place on November 27th, when Mercury was retrograde, i.e. on good slow. This often coincides with good news and it’s a protective and caring influence.
One of you may make a grand gesture on or near this date which will be remembered for some time to come. Home is where the heart is with this planetary combination, so make the most of it.
On the 21st, the day of the Solstice, the Sun moves into earth sign Capricorn and this is about having fun. Romance too is under the cosmic spotlight, especially during the Full Moon on the 22nd. This could be gorgeous for meeting someone new or being with the ones you love. Emotions are heightened and once again it’s about family and embracing the people in your life.
On the 25th, Christmas Day, the Moon is in Leo, perfect for a retreat or spiritual reflection. Combine this with a family celebration and you’re doing nicely.
Fast forward to the 31st, New Year’s Eve, and the Moon is in Scorpio, great for some deep and meaningful conversations as you bring in the New Year. It would also fit to celebrate with your siblings, neighbours or local community.
Wishing you a happy and peaceful festive season, whatever your faith and however you choose to celebrate.
Sally.
Thankyou for the past 12 months.
Best Wishes
Mary
