Virgo December 2017

winter, Virgo

Virgo (23 August – 22 September)

The emphasis throughout December is on the sign of Sagittarius, down at the base of your horoscope, representing your home and family, your past and where you come from. The Sun is here until the 21st, the planet of relating Venus is in Sagittarius from the 1st to the 25th and your ruler Mercury is here all month.

This is where your focus lies, whether you’re getting your home ready for the festive period, you’re busy visiting relatives or family or you’re caught up running all over the place, wearing your chauffeur’s hat.

There’s love and happiness on the one hand, especially when you spend quality time with the people you love. On the other hand, it’s not all ease and flow, because your ruling planet Mercury is retrograde in Sagittarius from December 3rd to 23rd.

This is often a time of miscommunication or misunderstandings, and you always have to be extra flexible and accommodating when Mercury’s up to its tricks. Being a Virgo, you often want things to work like clockwork but you do yourself a favour this month by lowering your expectations, even if only a little way.

Money is a major theme this month, and this becomes clear on the 1st when Mars in Libra clashes with Uranus in Aries, cutting across the financial axis of your zodiac. This could highlight an argument around money or a fight over who owns what or who’s paying for what.

It’s a difficult planetary combination and if you can steer clear of trouble or stay away from money arguments on or around this date, you do yourself a favour. Aim for the 6th instead, when common sense prevails.

There’s also the possibility to earn a quick buck this month, whether you decide to rent out a room, team up with family to share expenses, or you find a way to earn money part-time and online. The significant dates in this respect are the 10th, 16th and 20th.

Even though your ruler Mercury is on go slow for much of the month, action planet Mars moves into Scorpio and your communication sector on the 9th. This is a passionate combination so throw yourself into life close to home and reach out and connect with old and new friends alike.

Take note of what happens on or around the 3rd too when Jupiter in Scorpio teams up with Neptune in Pisces. Together these two planets are about turning dreams into reality and how you can bring more creativity or passion into your everyday life.

There’s also romantic potential here and another key date for love is the 28th when Mars and Neptune unite. Pisces is your relationship sector and love benefits when you share your emotions openly.

Another significant planetary move takes place on the 20th when Saturn leaves behind the sign of Sagittarius where it’s been since December 2014. Saturn’s a tough planet to negotiate and is often synchronous with a period of duty or responsibility.

Over the last few years, Saturn’s focus has been on your past, your home and your family. There may have been a lack in one of these areas, a hardship to deal with or tough facts to come to terms with.

Saturn’s move brings a lighter feel, the lifting of a burden. There may be a chance to finalise matters and create security in your life that’s built on love, happiness and firm foundations rather than stem from a place of fear.

You might have been de-cluttering lately or feel ready to let go and move into a lighter, brighter and easier future. This could coincide with a move of residence or simply a shift in consciousness, letting go of whatever’s held you back in the past.

Saturn moves into Capricorn, your fellow earth sign, and a star sign in which Saturn is strong. Saturn is swiftly joined by the Sun on the 21st and the planet of love and relating, Venus, on the 25th. This is where you need to readjust your focus as Capricorn rules your creativity and passion, romance, children and your hobbies.

Saturn is renowned as the taskmaster of the heavens but in a fellow earth sign, there’s more opportunity to work with Saturn rather than have Saturn work against you. It won’t always be easy and you do need to prove your commitment and actively hone your self-discipline and level of responsibility.

This is about taking control and being powerful, whether in love, as a parent or creating your masterpiece. Saturn thrives on hard work and learning important lessons. The answers to your questions lie inward, within yourself and this is an excellent time to consider your inner motivations and analyse what drives you.

If you’re a parent, you’re probably already aware of the level of commitment necessary to be there for your children. Can you take this same level of commitment into your love life or your creative endeavours?

This is what Saturn is asking of you and at times it will feel more like a demand than a question. The festive period provides some answers and the Sun/Saturn connection on the 21st followed by the Venus/Saturn connection on the 25th point the way.

It’s not a totally cheery picture and you might have to put your children before yourself or be apart from someone you love. This is also about playing the long game rather than choosing short-term satisfaction. Be bold and brave and true to your convictions.
