Top Tips Astrology For April 2024
Last month’s Lunar Eclipse on March 25th marked the start of an eventful few weeks, so dig deep and get ready to do battle moving into April.
The Sun will move into earth sign Taurus on April 19th but Aries season is extended this year, thanks to talk planet Mercury and action planet Mars. Aries is dynamic and forward-moving, also pushy and aggressive. Notice whether you’re the one who’s fuelled by passion and anger. Or, you’re around other people who are leaping into life all guns blazing.
Mercury retrograde – April 1 to April 25
First up this month, it’s important to note that communication planet Mercury turns retrograde as soon as April begins. Like the Sun, talk planet Mercury is in fiery Aries and will retreat back through the zodiac on April 1st from 27° Aries to 15° Aries where it turns direct on April 25th.
Traditionally, Mercury retrograde is the time to avoid big decisions and major investments. Mercury rules transport and is the planet linked to trade. In Aries, it’s a time to stop fighting, put down your weapons and rework your strategy.
If you need to do a deal or sign a contract, read the small print and double-check everything. You may not have all the information at your fingertips when Mercury’s in retreat.
What Mercury retrograde is good for is to actively engage with all the re-words – reconsider, reflect, retreat, redo, rework, revise, reconnect, reminisce, research, etc.
Retrograde planets turn your attention inwards and towards the past. It’s a time for second chances, slowing things down and rethinking your next steps.
Solar Eclipse [19 Aries 24] – April 8
While Mercury is retrograde, a second eclipse takes place on April 8th. This is a powerful total Solar Eclipse in Aries and it will be visible in central and north Americas.
If you’re in the right place, it’s worth watching the eclipse, which is an awesome sight. Although, you’re wise to pay attention to the safety rules and wear proper eclipse glasses. It will be early evening when the eclipse goes live.
A Solar Eclipse is a powerful symbol of new beginnings. Yet, as with all eclipses, a shadow has to fall. It’s only when the shadow lifts that a new landscape is revealed.
Wherever you find the star sign Aries in your horoscope, this is where you have a powerful beam of energy. Sometimes, Solar Eclipses coincide with accelerated growth when the wheel of fortune kicks in moving you in a new direction.
Plus, this Solar Eclipse is unique because it’s in a partile, i.e. exact conjunction with Chiron, the wounded healer. Chiron is about the physical body and emotional wounds.
Whether you’re a teacher, a healer or undergoing a process of healing, Chiron often plays a pivotal role. Don’t take any unnecessary risks on the Solar Eclipse and embrace healing, whatever that might mean for you.
You can usually take advantage of any changes coinciding with eclipses a few days later. However, this time around you’re wise to wait until late April before you take action, because of Mercury’s Retrograde phase.
Jupiter conjunct Uranus [21 Taurus 49] – April 21
The Jupiter-Uranus conjunction only takes place once every 13-14 years. The last time was 2010 and before that 1997. It’s a powerful combination with the two planets linked to freedom bringing a theme of opportunity and change.
In earth sign Taurus, this could spell good news for progressive developments linked to science, technology and the environment.
On a personal level, these two planets symbolise the entrepreneur, the risk-taker, the person who dares to be different, the radical activist. They represent breaking out, breakthroughs and genius potential. This could be the combination that helps you make the breakthrough you’ve been waiting for.
Wherever this combination falls in your horoscope, it’s encouraging you to take a leap of faith.
Full Moon [4 Scorpio 18] – April 23
The Sun enters Taurus on April 19th and a few days later, there’s a Full Moon in Scorpio on April 23rd.
Full Moons are a time of completion or culmination and this Full Moon could represent a significant turning point. It falls two days after the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction and two days before Mercury turns direct.
This is the time to make decisions, listen to your intuition and bring matters to completion. During the Full Moon, you can release and let go of unwanted emotions.
During this Full Moon, Pluto is square to the Sun and Moon, and Pluto is the planet linked to endings. This period in the month feels definitive. It may only be when one door closes in your life that you’re able to embrace freedom and start afresh.
If things aren’t moving in the direction you choose this month, hang in there. The big shifts could come thick and fast from April 21st onwards.
