Taurus (20 April – 20 May)
Your ruling planet Venus remains in Pisces until the 6th. Venus, the planet of love, is expansive in Pisces, a boundless water sign linked to the sea and the emotions. At its best, this is unconditional love, a sensitive and empathic placing for the planet of relationships.
In fact, the first few days of March could be stand-out days for you and this is not a time to hold back when it comes to love. This is because there’s a Full Moon taking place on the 2nd in Virgo and your romance sector. Plus, big planet Jupiter is well-placed in Scorpio and your relationship sector.
Jupiter teams up with Venus on the 1st and talk planet Mercury on the 2nd. These two planets, Venus and Mercury, then connect on the 4th. All in all, this is gorgeous astrology for relationships and close connections. Reach out to other people, find your tribe, fall head over heels in love.
Jupiter switches direction on the 9th and this is when Jupiter’s opportunistic vibe is emphasised. You can’t have too many people in your life now and it’s through your 1-to-1 connections where good fortune lies. This is not a period to go it alone. Instead, create strong alliances and enjoy your 1-to-1’s, both personal and professional.
Financial ties are well-aspected early in the month as action planet Mars marches through Sagittarius and your joint finance sector. This can be the planetary equivalent of an adrenalin rush. Whether your finances are up or down, you have to be courageous and bold to make the most of money matters.
Engage fully with what’s happening in your financial situation. Trust your intuition close to the 11th when Mars teams up with spontaneous Uranus in the most hidden sector of your horoscope. Act fast and you can complete a deal or at least get someone off you back.
You might be seeking out a loan for a study or travel project or decide to set up a crowd funding campaign online. Events mid-month could swing things in your favour and, at the very least, it’s worth a punt.
There’s another strong dynamic that kicks in throughout March. This is the focus on the star sign Aries, the sign previous to your own. This will be felt from the 6th, when both Mercury and Venus enter Aries hand-in-hand.
Traditionally, when planets are in Aries, this is about being on your own rather than with other people. There’s a solitary feel to Aries, the sign linked to the individual. Sometimes, events conspire against you to bring a period of solitude or alone-ness. You may be feeling under the weather or want more time to yourself to deal with a personal situation.
Other times, you’re looking after people too, who need you. This brings out the caring side of your nature, your earth mother archetype. In fact, this is very possible in March because of the emphasis on Pisces, a sensitive and caring star sign. You might want to be there for a good friend in need or work alongside other people helping others.
See what transpires close to the New Moon in Pisces on the 17th, potentially a powerful day for friendship, group connections and teamwork.
The Sun enters Aries on the 20th, the day of the Equinox and the start of the new zodiac year. This is primarily an excellent time for making a fresh start and boosting energy levels. In the northern hemisphere, the Sun’s move into Aries coincides with the onset of spring.
Three days after the Equinox, however, communication planet Mercury turns retrograde and remains on go slow until April 15th. So there’s a stop-start feel to this year’s new beginning or should that be a start-stop. Take your time later in the month and don’t rush into anything new if it doesn’t feel right.
Mercury retrograde is an excellent time for preparation and research, working behind the scenes. This fits with the emphasis on the star sign Aries, readying you for the planets’ move into Taurus, your star sign.
There is another planetary dynamic, however, which suggests that even if you’re home-bound or having to proceed slowly in life, you can still line up new adventures and think about what next. This is because action planet Mars moves into your fellow earth sign Capricorn on the 17th where it remains until mid-May.
Capricorn rules travel and study in your horoscope, it’s about the bigger picture in life and looking ahead. You are perhaps going to have to fight harder than usual to make things happen and dig deep to find your inner strength. This could depend on how much you want to step into your power, take on a new role, be ambitious. If you want something badly enough, your tenacious Taurus character will kick in.
Sometimes, it’s easier to wait until the timing feels right, to be in flow rather than try and force the issue. The end of the month could be fruitful in this respect as your ruling planet Venus moves into your star sign Taurus on the last day of the month, the 31st.
This coincides with the second Full Moon in March, a Blue Moon, which falls in the sign representing balance and harmony, Libra. Once you feel more settled or your work or health is progressing easily, then you may choose to take on some bigger challenges in life.
Get people on your side, ask for support or friendship when you need it and don’t feel that you have to try and achieve the impossible. As a Sun Taurus, you know more than most that happiness comes via contentment and the easy, natural flow of life.
Hi Sally. I have a general question (maybe for your blog?) about Mercury Retro. I blew out my knee on my wedding day in Sept 2016. I tried having it repaired, but now it needs to be replaced, and the only date my surgeon has available is March 27th. I’m wondering what effect Mercury Retro has on surgery, and more to the point, having an artificial joint installed during that time. Thx!
Hi Paula, sorry to hear about the knee! Mercury retrograde isn’t ideal for major surgery although I guess it will slow you down for a while whether you like it or not! You would need to look at other factors in your birth chart to see if they balance out the Mercury retrograde phase. The basic answer is that I wouldn’t choose it for surgery but if it’s the only date available, then consider what else is happening in your birth chart. Hope that helps. Sending best wishes, Sally
In my opinion, Aries/Scorpio relationships are the most passionate, yet exhausting combos in the zodiac. It”s like a rollercoaster ride, both are very ambitious and want to be heard, but they both have different intentions. And it will always feel as if the Scorpio gives more to the Aries, then they will receive in return. The attraction is electric, but the willpower to keep things balanced is always wavering. I used to attract Aries for years lol
