Turning Points

There are turning points immediately at the start of August in what promises to be a more positive month than July. The eclipses are behind you and talk planet, Mercury, switches to direct motion on the 1st (July 31st in America) after a long three weeks retrograde, i.e in retreat.

Mercury is in Cancer and your communication sector so listen out for news that comes your way or important information which comes to light. Mercury turns direct at the same degree as the Lunar Eclipse on July 16th. These two events/dates might be linked and Mercury’s change of direction presents an opportunity to resolve a problem or issue. This could be around travel or study or communication in general.

Mercury turns direct close to the New Moon in Leo, also on the 1st (again, July 31st in America). Leo rules your home and family and Cancer rules your siblings and relatives. So, there’s a family theme. Both planetary events signify a turning point, a fresh start. New Moons are a symbol of new beginnings and a chance to start over.

If someone’s gone quiet on you, speak up. If there’s been an ongoing misunderstanding or rift, it’s an excellent opportunity to pick up the phone and sort things out. Home and family are a key area of your life for the first half of August. The sooner you get busy and pro-active and resolve things, the better.

Home & Family Affairs

It’s a similar situation if you’re buying or selling property or looking for somewhere new to live. This could be a busy time of year for you with family visiting or the builders in temporary residence. In fact, it’s likely that this could be an unsettled time or perhaps you’re choosing to do things differently and be more independent.

This has a lot to do with Uranus, the planet of change and unpredictability, currently in your star sign, Taurus. Uranus clashes with your ruling planet, Venus, on the 2nd, and communication planet Mercury on the 16th. These two events are close to the New Moon in Leo on the 1st and the Full Moon which cuts across the Leo/Aquarius axis of the zodiac on the 15th. 

Note these dates as this is when significant developments are likely to take place, with regard to home and family, your past, your roots and where you come from. It could be an exciting time when you’re open to new ideas or discovering new family. It does, however, feel full on. It’s important you build some ‘me’ time in to the midst of busy-ness.

Uranus turns direct on the 12th. Often, when an outer planet changes direction, it can feel intense. If your birthday falls between April 26th-28th, you’ll notice this the most. Sometimes, you feel wired when Uranus’ activity kicks in. It’s lively and the opposite of grounded. 

Try and make sense of what you’re feeling or experiencing. This could be very personal to you, a time when you’re looking more closely at who you are and what you want and need. Sometimes, the only way you discover this is when you experience the opposite, i.e. you’re in a place or situation that dissatisfies rather than fulfils.

Money Swells

Also, around this time, money could be a big factor for you. This is because, the planet of opportunity, Jupiter, turns direct in Sagittarius on the 11th. This sector of your horoscope rules your joint finances, shared resources and all kinds of money transactions, including inheritance, tax, mortgages, investments, savings & debt, etc.

Jupiter is strong this month and teams up with your planet Venus on the 8th and the Sun on the 7th. This mid-month period could see your bank account swell. It would be a great time to start a family business, make money through property or any other project that links these key areas of your life – home & family, the past; joint finances & investments. The 21st is another date to note and great for a meeting or to ask for a loan.

Jupiter remains in Sagittarius until early December and this month you’re on a roll. You may be involved in paying for a party, anniversary or wedding. Fund-raising also falls under Jupiter in Sagittarius’ umbrella.

Love & Partnership

Love too could be part of the picture because the lovers of the heavens, your ruler, Venus, and your partner planet, Mars, are never far away from each other this month. Also, the asteroid Juno is close to Mars in the first two weeks of August.

Juno was Jupiter’s wife in mythology and is linked to marriage, soul-mate connections and loyalty. This can flag up jealousy or insecurities and it is an important month for your 1-to-1’s. The New and Full Moon on the 1st and 15th could prove significant dates in this respect.

You may tie the knot with someone close or gain new appreciation for the one you love. Notice when you’re spending a lot of time with a partner and how this makes you feel. Remember, you have independent Uranus currently in your star sign, Taurus.

New love is also under the cosmic spotlight from the 18th onwards. This is when the inner planets start to move in to Virgo, a fellow earth sign. Mars moves here on the 18th, followed by Venus, your ruler, on the 21st, the Sun on the 23rd and talk planet, Mercury, on the 29th. Finally, the Moon on the 30th which means there’s a second New Moon in August on the 30th. 

Feeling Lucky

Plus, Venus and Mars unite in Virgo on the 24th, the one and only time the lovers of the heavens come together. This is gorgeous for you whether you’re on a creative roll, you’re having a great time with the kids, you’re head over heels in love or you feel lucky.

Uranus kicks during the last week of the month when it teams up with your planet Venus on the 26th, Mars on the 28th and the Sun on the 30th. This promises something special. So, trust your natural instincts, do more of what you love and recognise that believing in luck can change your fortunes for the better.
