We are currently in the dark side of the moon in those couple of days before a new moon cycle begins.
The next new moon takes place on Sunday 13th September (07:41 BST). This is a powerful New Moon as it’s a solar eclipse and it connects to the karmic nodes in the heavens.
The word ‘eclipse’ tells you a lot about eclipse symbolism. It’s classically an ‘out with the old, in with the new’ experience and you sometimes have to ask yourself who or what is being eclipsed? Eclipses have a shadowy, hidden theme and they match events/actions that you didn’t see coming.
Rest & Retreat
This eclipse takes place in the earth sign Virgo, one of the ‘introverted’ signs of the zodiac. The Moon has now entered Virgo (Friday 11th September 14:55 BST) and remains here until Monday morning. Virgo is one of the earth signs, associated with writing and critical thinking.
This eclipse and especially the couple of days leading up to it are perfect for turning inward, for slowing down the pace and taking stock. Pay attention to the small things, the detail in your life and give yourself time and space to rest and retreat, to read and write.
The eclipse degree, 20 Virgo, opposes Chiron, the healing planet, in Pisces and it’s an ideal time for inner work, meditation, analysis and deep thought.
A Power Point of Energy
There’s a gentle feel to this eclipse even though a solar eclipse is a power point of energy and this weekend heralds a major week in the heavens with some huge planetary shifts.
This is not the time when you’re advised to sit back and take life for granted. Sometimes when you look back on key eclipses, you recognise that they coincided with important turning points so be mindful in the way you engage with life.
The Virgo/Pisces axis represents service, caring and compassion. Listen to where in life you’re being called forth, where kindness is needed, where you can help others. Rise to the challenges which come your way and steer yourself in a new direction but first go inward and retreat.
Mark The Pace Slow
Traditionally you’re advised to wait a few days after an eclipse before taking action or making big decisions. Yet four days after this eclipse, communication planet Mercury is on go-slow so the wise thing to do is to put the big goals on hold and be patient.
The lie of the land will look completely different by mid-October when Mercury is once again direct and some stunning astrology provides the perfect scenario for dynamic and successful action. For now, take life one step at a time.
Here’s a quick guide to the specific area of your life under review during the eclipse:
Aries: Health, work, your everyday lifestyle & routine
Taurus: Children, creativity, entertainment, love affairs, luck
Gemini: Home, family, your past, where you come from
Cancer: Communication, siblings, neighbours, your local community
Leo: Money, resources, your personal values
Virgo: Self, image, name, your identity
Libra: Retreat, quiet time, seclusion, service to others, introspection
Scorpio: Friends, groups, social networks, social concerns, hopes & wishes
Sagittarius: Career, vocation, status, your role in the public eye
Capricorn: Travel, education, learning, your philosopy of life
Aquarius: Joint finances, sex, life’s mysteries
Pisces: Relationships, your 1-to-1’s both personal & professional
