Mars & Money

Your ruling planet Mars changes star sign on the 3rd leaving behind Scorpio and entering Sagittarius. Mars is storming through fire sign, Sagittarius, ruling your money, your possessions and self-worth until mid-February. Therefore, this is an excellent time to focus on your finances and put energy into spending money or earning money, whichever is most relevant to you.

There is a speculative nature to Mars in Sagittarius and you may be more willing to take risks or invest your money. Adventure and knowledge are linked to Sagittarius so this would be an excellent month to start a savings plan if you want to travel or commit to a course of study.

Mars has a relatively free run through Sagittarius this month apart from a potential conflict with the planet Neptune on the 28th. This muddies the waters and it isn’t a good date to spend, invest or gamble. Neptune is linked to illusion. Sometimes, what you think is a good deal turns out not to be. Don’t allow yourself to be lead astray, fooled or seduced at the end of the month.

Otherwise, you’re wise to focus on money and in particular work out where your values lie. What’s of most importance to you right now in your life? Is it what you own, is it what you experience? Get clear about your priorities as you line up your 2020 goals or intentions.

It’s also an excellent month to look at your pricing if you offer a service or product. Consider whether you’re being paid what you’re worth. Start as you mean to go on in 2020 and use Mars’ dynamic energy to fire up your finances, your self-value and self-worth.

Eclipse Season & Saturn-Pluto

There is some powerful astrology this month including a Lunar or Full Moon Eclipse in Cancer on the 10th and the Saturn-Pluto conjunction in Capricorn on the 12th. Eclipses promise change or a sudden turn of events and the Saturn-Pluto conjunction has a theme of endings.

Note that the eclipse is part of the eclipse cycle cutting across the Cancer/Capricorn axis of the horoscope which began in July 2018 and completes in July 2020. Therefore, you may already be aware what this means for you.

These sectors of your personal horoscope rule education, communication, travel and study. It’s where you expand your horizons, where you dream big, where you increase your knowledge and life experience.

Travel could be more than just a holiday this month or planning a trip with a difference. You might bump into someone who opens up new possibilities in your life. Or, you end up somewhere that proves serendipitous, being in the right place at the right time.

Most importantly, however, this is about your voice, your words. Pluto is your co-ruler and this whole combination is about stepping up your game. You might have to say No to the authorities or elsewhere in your life. You may need to prove your authority, your power and step in to take charge of a situation. Consider what’s ending in your life and what you need to relegate to the past in order to start over.

If this is about people, Capricorn rules your siblings and your neighbours, also your local community. Consider where or how you need to ‘lay down the law’ in these relationships in your life. Or, alternatively, step in and take charge.

There is a definite theme of opposition in your life during this period in the month as Uranus turns direct in Taurus and your relationship sector on the 11th, sandwiched between the Eclipse and the Saturn-Pluto conjunction. This suggests you won’t get on with everyone although it may feel urgent or important to speak your mind.

Aquarius’ Moves

The other star sign that’s pivotal throughout January is Aquarius. Venus, the planet of relating, is here until the 13th. And, both Mercury (communication) and the Sun (identity) enter Aquarius on the 16th and 20th respectively. Aquarius rules your home and family, your domestic situation. It’s about your past, your roots and where you come from.

It’s likely that you’ll have a lot to discuss or talk about in these areas of your life, whether you’re planning to move home or you’re organising a family get-together or celebration. It’s a good month to get sorted at home or implement a new rota or schedule outlining who does what around the house. Aquarius works best when there are rules and guidelines, a structure in place.

Note that Mars, your planet, is in Sagittarius, your money sector and Venus, your partner planet, is in Aquarius and your home sector until the 13th. This suggests there will be significant areas to discuss or sort out within a relationship. You might think about starting a family, be dealing with the in-laws or consider building work or a new location.

Romantic Vibes

Love and romance are part of the planetary picture once Venus enters romantic Pisces on the 13th. Pisces is a fellow water sign and not only rules romance but children and pregnancy, creative projects, entertainment and luck. 

Neptune’s also here, Pisces’ ruler and the 27th could prove dreamy and romantic for some Scorpios. This may be a stunning period for new love or a creative project. Take care that you don’t lose yourself entirely in a fantasy world, however, and keep a firm grip on reality. 

The flip side of Neptune is illusion and seduction. Keep your savvy Scorpio wits about you, so you’re not fooled or deluded. Also, be aware that the lovers of the heavens, Venus and Mars, clash on the 27th, so you may have different ideas to your other half about your dreams, your hopes and wishes.

At its best, this is a month when you can start to move your situation forwards and start to make the changes which will help you create strong foundations in your life in the year ahead.
