Sagittarius (22 November – 21 December)
As the month begins, there are a host of planets in earth signs, plus five of the ten planets in the solar system are retrograde or on go slow. This can only mean one thing for you, that life is slowing down and in some shape or form, you’re in a holding pattern.
Earth signs are different to your own fiery nature. They’re cautious, plodding, they take the sensible, safe, secure approach to life. This is so different to you because at your best, you’re a visionary, and thrive on impulsive moves and taking risks.
Plus in your chart the earth signs focus on work and money, the serious side of life, so this confirms that perhaps you can’t do everything you want right now and your desire for fun and adventure is being reined in.
If this makes sense to you, then it’s important to go with this for now because the planets indicate this isn’t the time to do things differently. Plus the first two weeks of the month are potentially good news for work and money even if you’re not that enamoured by staying put and playing a waiting game.
The big news for you however is the fact that on May 9th, your ruling planet Jupiter turns direct in the heavens after being retrograde or on go slow since the beginning of the year. Jupiter is currently in Virgo, the sign at the top of your chart, and this rules your career and vocation, your status and reputation.
It’s about where you’re heading in life and whilst Jupiter moves forward again through Virgo and your career sector until early September 2016, you can make steady progress. Plus, Jupiter is in a powerful trine aspect with this month’s New Moon which takes place on May 6th.
This confirms that the start of May is fertile, productive and a positive period. The New Moon takes place in Taurus and this rules your working life, your everyday lifestyle and your health. This isn’t about aiming for glory or taking on a stressful role in life. Instead it’s about paying attention to your well-being, finding an easy flow in life and concentrating on what makes you feel good on a daily basis.
If you’re waiting on news about work or your health, the period between the 6th to the 9th is likely to bring answers your way. Plus, there’s a third planet in play early in the month and this is Pluto in Capricorn.
Pluto is the planet of transformation and rules your personal money sector. With the Sun in Taurus and Jupiter in Virgo, Pluto is currently making a stunning Grand Earth Trine in the sky and this enables you to materialise your goals.
It’s steady but it indicates that help is at hand on the work or money fronts and hidden riches can be discovered when you dig deep. This is a supportive and protective influence in the heavens which is helpful for you even if and especially if you’re currently dealing with life’s challenges.
However, having said that, there’s another planet in the mix and this is Mercury, the planet of communication, which is currently retrograde or on go slow until May 22nd. Mercury is also in Taurus and the work and health sector of your chart so this is a bide-your-time influence. You can’t rush into anything new now but instead you need to be patient and take the long-term approach.
Mercury retrograde can indicate misunderstandings or you hear something that turns out not to be true. Wait until Mercury picks up speed again towards the end of May before you make any final decisions. This is when you’re more likely to hear the information or news you’ve been waiting for.
The energy shifts again in the last third of the month when first the Sun enters your opposite sign of Gemini on May 20th followed by the planet of relating, Venus, on May 24th.
Gemini rules your 1-to-1 relationships, both personal and professional. It’s the people in your life who mean a lot to you, who you work with or live with or those people who influence you on a major level.
On May 21st there’s a Full Moon in your sign of Sagittarius lighting up the Gemini/Sagittarius axis in your chart. This suggests a competitive situation, a relationship that’s suddenly in the spotlight and extra important to you.
It’s a feisty energy during this Full Moon however because the planet of passion and anger, Mars, currently retrograde in your sign of Sagittarius is caught up with the Full Moon. This feels combative, argumentative and you might find it difficult or impossible if you can’t get your own way.
It’s not an easy picture for you right now with Mars building up frustration in your sign and the taskmaster of the heavens, Saturn, continuing its long-term residence in your sign. This will show you clearly what you can and can’t achieve right now. Stay within your limitations and don’t try and achieve the impossible just yet.
Your turn will come and August and September are the months to note. For now, however, choose your battles carefully and know that tempers might flare and emotions will be heightened during the Full Moon phase.
This could also be a testing time for a close relationship as love planet Venus in Gemini opposes Mars in Sagittarius on May 25th. This isn’t a settled connection by any means and if you are in a relationship or married, you’re wise to work on strong foundations earlier in May.
You are having to rethink what’s important to you in life right now and where your priorities lie and if the Jupiter-Saturn square on May 26th highlights where you’re on the wrong track, this can impact on other areas of your life too.
Good news for you is the fact that action planet Mars retreats out of your sign on May 27th giving you a breather and a chance to regroup. It also favours second and even third chances so don’t give up but be prepared to try again when the timing’s right.
Hi Sally
I really enjoy reading your forecasts!
I was wondering about this month and if having mercury natally retro in Taurus and the transit being the same would that have moresignificance for me? Also I have venus in gemini so would be having a return. and not only would that be in oppositin as well to mars in sag but I also have mars conjunct my venus and they are both in 7th house…would this mean a lot of heated moments in my relationships?!
Thanks Sally!!
hi Kim, tricky to say definitively without looking at your chart. If you have Mercury going back and forth over your natal Mercury, this is probably a time for questioning and waiting to make any big decision until Mercury is back to direct motion or makes its last transit of your natal Mercury. Venus is in Taurus this month not Gemini so you will probably get the opposition next month. It can mean a disagreement or minor clash but usually nothing more unless it’s backed up by major transits/progressions. Mars conjunct Venus is more interesting especially with Mars currently retrograde. Repressed emotions springs to mind for now but expect more passion and fire once Mars turns direct. Again depends when Mars triggers your natal Venus. Hope that helps. best, Sally
hi Kim, I’ve realised my answer might have been misleading because Venus is in Gemini at the end of May so presumably your Venus is early degrees Gemini? If so, the period round the Full Moon on May 21st is choppy and confrontational to say the least, especially as Venus and Mars are also in opposition. It feels as if it’s going to be a time when anything underlying needs to come out into the open so it can be resolved. Hope that’s a more complete answer! best, Sally
Hi Sally, thanks for replying! My venus/mars is at 16/18 * gemini, so at least I’ll miss the FM, whew. Interesting point about repressed emotions with the mars rx which at the moment is in my 1st house. I have been feeling a bit *itchy of late and irritated with others but I keep it to myself. I suppose I best talk with those around me when I am in a calmer frame of mind to air out my grievances. But with a mars/venus in gemini by the time I cool down I dont feel the need to bring it up…hows that for being wishy washy!
