Sagittarius (22 November – 21 December)
December is the time to symbolically let go of anything that’s not worked out or is past its sell-by date in your life. It’s also a month when you need to shake off anything that’s weighed you down or been a burden.
This is an important month to do so because the Sun is in your sign of Sagittarius until the 21st and the focus is on you. Look to the year that’s past, reflect on where you’re at now and set some new intentions for the year ahead. When the Sun is in your sign, it’s time to line up some new goals and aims and put yourself first.
It’s also a good month to get out and about and enjoy the social whirl. If you’re a typical Sagittarius, you love the party season and any excuse to hang out and make new friends.
The lovers of the heavens, Venus and Mars, spend a good deal of time in Aquarius and your social sector this month. Mars is here until the 19th and Venus enters Aquarius on the 7th where it remains until the end of the year.
So have some fun, do things differently, ring the changes. Put any worries or difficulties to one side at least some of the time and make the most of this sociable time of year. If you’re looking for love, it’s a gorgeous period to meet someone new and the Full Moon on the 14th lights up the relationship sector of your chart.
Christmas Day, December 25th, could be the date when you decide to introduce someone new to the family as love planet Venus takes centre stage.
Yet it’s not all fun and games this month and one area where you need to proceed cautiously is money. This is because communication planet Mercury turns retrograde on the 19th in Capricorn and your money sector. So don’t get carried away spending for Christmas and ideally do your Christmas shopping before the 19th and stick to your budget.
Once Mercury is on go slow, it’s time to conserve your money rather than spend wildly. You might be waiting on money owed or need to rejig your finances due to a change in fortune.
The period between Christmas and New Year is promising to ask for help or help someone close in return. There’s a New Moon in Capricorn on the 29th, an ideal date for new initiatives.
This is when money, home and family all come together and you can start to look at new ways of boosting your money fortune heading into 2017. Yet whatever your current financial situation, wait until Mercury turns direct before taking direct action. January 12th could turn out to be a significant turning point.
The other factor to note this month is Saturn, also in your sign of Sagittarius and alongside the Sun on the 10th. Saturn known as the enemy of ‘the lights’, the Sun and Moon, because it rules opposing signs to where the Sun and Moon shine bright. The Sun is strong in Leo and the Moon in Cancer, whereas Saturn’s signs of rulership are the opposite, i.e. Aquarius and Capricorn.
Therefore when you have Saturn in your sign, it can be a time of low energy, when you feel deflated or dejected. You might have experienced periods of sadness, hardship or ill health over the last two years whilst Saturn has been in Sagittarius.
The plus side of Saturn is that it gives you grit and determination to see things through. Saturn is the planet linked to hard work and when Saturn’s in your sign, you gain a clear understanding that sometimes the best things in life can only be achieved when you commit yourself 100%.
Saturn brings a new level of commitment to your life this month but this doesn’t necessarily cross over to your relationships, especially love and romance. This is because of a key planet in Aries and your romance sector and that planet is Uranus.
Uranus is an impulsive, unpredictable planet which brings excitement but also change. This doesn’t indicate settling down for the long-term and if you’re currently single, you may enjoy remaining that way with a few flirtations or flings along the way. Basically, when Uranus is in charge of your love life, anything goes and an unconventional approach to love suits you best.
Yet Saturn and Uranus combine on Christmas Day, December 25th, which means your love stars look lively. For some, there’ll be a chance to spend the festive period with someone new. You won’t please everyone by doing so but this is your life and you want to take your chances whilst you can.
The end of the year could also bring something or someone special into your life and this might be related to children or young people. You could decide to adopt a child, hear you’re about to become a grandparent or be asked to be a godparent. Whatever move it is will indicate more responsibility for you and yet you find yourself stepping forward willingly to help out.
It’s such lively astrology over Christmas that anything goes. Your ruling planet Jupiter is in the mix on Boxing Day, December 26th, as Jupiter and Uranus oppose each other across the zodiac. So friends might be involved in the mix and nothing feels settled or calm. You need to keep your wits about you and a flexible attitude to the festivities will definitely help.
For some, the astrology indicates a big announcement and happiness but what takes place will necessitate quick thinking or a change of plan. With Saturn in Sagittarius and your ruler Jupiter prominent too, it might be up to you to take charge of a sudden change of events.
