Happy New Year! Hooray – 2020 is over and we’re moving into a brand new year.
The themes of 2020 and 2021 are pulled together in the month ahead as there’s a clear theme of endings and new beginnings.
Capricorn Themes
As January begins, the Sun is in Capricorn, the dominant star sign in 2020. The Sun remains here until the 19th and is joined by the planet of relating, Venus, on the 8th.
Capricorn rules your friends and group activities, it’s linked to your role within society, politics or community issues. It’s about your place in the world and the people you care about the most.
Yet, this month could prove to be a decisive turning point, whether you’re letting go of a group, club or society that’s been important to you. Alternatively, you’re saying goodbye to a dear friend or social group.
This is because Pluto is in Capricorn and active this month. Pluto teams up with talk planet Mercury on the 5th, the Sun on the 14th and Venus on the 28th.
Pluto’s the planet of loss and transformation. When it’s pulled into the planetary activity, things can’t remain the same. One door has to close before a new door can open.
It may become evident what this means to you on or around the New Moon in Capricorn on the 13th. Pluto sits next to the Sun during this New Moon and this could indicate an ultimatum, a letting go or saying goodbye.
Yet, you could also find yourself being called forth during this New Moon to take the lead in a group or step into a position or role of power. Pluto works both ways and is not only about endings or loss.
Aquarius Themes
You are entering into a phase that may connect you more with the spiritual world as Aquarius is the star sign of the moment. Your traditional ruler Jupiter entered Aquarius at the end of December 2020 and is active in the first few months of the year.
Aquarius rules the most hidden sector of your horoscope and turns your attention inward. It can be a time of preparation, when you need to restore your hope and faith. You might be learning to meditate, be on retreat or find yourself listening more to your inner voice.
Aquarius is a social star sign linked to the collective, so this could indicate coming together with other people for a good cause. You might be meditating for peace or become involved in spiritual or philosophical teachings.
Follow wherever your heart leads you on this journey. In particular, notice who or what appears in your life on the 11th and 29th when Jupiter lights up first Mercury, then the Sun.
Jupiter expands what it touches and is the planet of opportunity and growth. These may turn out to be lucky dates, a time when synchronicity or coincidences abound.
Finding Your Voice
Also, you could find your voice this month and become an activist or take the lead in other key areas. This is because of what’s happening in Taurus and your communication and community sector. Action planet Mars moves here on the 6th and on the 20th Mars unites with rebel planet Uranus.
You may find it hard to hold back mid-month. Instead, you want or need to get involved with what’s happening around you, either out in the world or in your local neighbourhood.
You may be fighting for other people or defending the underdog. You might be caring for others or helping those less well-off than yourself. It’s lively planetary activity calling you forth.
The Full Moon on the 28th is part of the same picture, except it’s linked more to gaining or passing on knowledge. This Full Moon lights up the educational axis of your horoscope, whether you’re the one studying or teaching.
Get things moving this month sooner rather than later and fire some arrows high into the sky. Sign up for a course or share your views online.
Come the 30th, communication planet Mercury turns retrograde in Aquarius and you may find it harder to have your say in February.
