New Moon Virgo: New Beginnings

new growth

New Moon [11 Virgo 04]

September 3, 2024 (02:56 GMT+1)

It’s a lively start to September, so thank heavens for a New Moon in Virgo, the star sign of order and ritual on September 3rd. Traditionally, a New Moon is an ideal time to set your intentions. Then, you make a wish when you first see the crescent Moon in the night sky, a couple of days later.

At the exact moment of the New Moon, the Sun and Moon sit side-by-side in the zodiac in earth sign Virgo. Virgo is the star sign of order and analysis, list-making and strategy, resourcefulness and measured behaviour. It’s linked to work and routine, lifestyle and health, self-care and service to others.

Therefore, this is an excellent New Moon to start a new habit or begin any activity that feeds you, nurtures you, grounds you and strengthens you. The call of this New Moon in Virgo is to continue living your life well, restore order, calm the mind and not let fear or worry take hold.

A New Moon in a feminine earth sign is the ideal time to put one foot in front of the other, to allow the constancy and beauty of nature to soothe your soul, to be grateful for the rituals and routine of your daily life. Much nurturing and care may be needed now. Start with you, the ones you love, heal self and others, help and be of service, then gently move out into the world.

Uranus & Pluto

The days before the New Moon are the dark of the Moon, a time to rest and retreat. Yet, the planets aren’t having any of it this time around as both wild- card Uranus and power planet Pluto are intense and deep.

Uranus turns retrograde on September 1st and has been active since mid-July. Uranus is linked to technology and innovation, it’s the trigger and the spark that unites the collective. It’s a go-getting dynamic combination and ideal for accelerating New Moon beginnings, perhaps too fast! There’s a controversial, independent edge to Uranus.

Pluto is evident during the dark of the Moon too, as it returns to earth sign Capricorn on September 2nd. Pluto is coming back to clean up old business and will finally leave Capricorn on November 19th, before handing over the reins to Aquarius.

What will get razed to the ground with Pluto in Capricorn? Will the old structures fall or hierarchies collapse? Is Pluto gearing up ready to give its power to Aquarius, the star sign of equality and the collective?

Some of what’s going on will be hidden and behind the scenes. Take your time on a personal note moving into this new month. Be diligent, deliberate and true to yourself.

The Saturn Factor

The closest planetary aspect to the New Moon is an opposition to Saturn. The Moon opposite Saturn is exact on the same day, September 3rd, while the Sun’s opposition to Saturn perfects on September 8th.

Saturn is said to be the enemy of the lights, the Sun and Moon, as it rules the two star signs furthest away from the Sun and Moon’s rulerships. Saturn rules Capricorn (opposite Cancer – the Moon’s star sign) and Aquarius (opposite Leo – the Sun’s star sign).

The planet Saturn requires a cool and measured response. Perhaps, there will be some roadblocks or hold ups when things don’t work out. Or you’re tired and low at the seed moment of the New Moon.

Saturn’s the get real planet and does lend you discipline, stamina and a refusal to give up. This New Moon could go one way or the other, as there’s a Mars-Neptune square aspect on the same day, September 3rd. Neptune can fool you, seduce you and lead you astray. Saturn keeps returning to what’s possible and what’s real.

It’s a fairly chaotic New Moon period. Even more reason to pay attention to the details and come back to basics.

What Does It Mean For You?

Here’s a quick guide to the areas of your life highlighted by this week’s New Moon. Read both your Sun sign and your Ascendant sign:

  • Virgo: Self, image, name, your identity
  • Libra: Retreat, quiet time, seclusion, service to others, introspection
  • Scorpio: Friends, groups, social networks, social concerns, hopes and wishes
  • Sagittarius: Career, vocation, status, your role in the public eye
  • Capricorn: Travel, education, learning, your philosopy of life
  • Aquarius: Joint finances, sex, life’s mysteries
  • Pisces: Relationships, your one-to-one’s both personal and professional
  • Aries: Health, work, your everyday lifestyle and routine
  • Taurus: Children, creativity, entertainment, love affairs, luck
  • Gemini: Home, family, your past, where you come from
  • Cancer: Communication, siblings, neighbours, your local community
  • Leo: Money, resources, your personal values

Virgo is a star sign that can get a bad press for playing small. Yet, the best way to create change in your life is to take one small step at a time towards your chosen goal. Making big demands on yourself may not pay off but create new daily practices and you can slowly and effectively change the habits of a lifetime.

Wait until the silver slither of the crescent moon emerges in the night sky a couple of nights after the New Moon date. Then, you make your New Moon wish and tend to your garden of life.

Wishing You A Happy New Moon
